I thought you couldn’t become a German citizen if you didn’t have German blood? Has that law been changed?

The law was changed a few years ago to make naturalization easier for non-ethnic Germans. 
Think of the hysterical reaction from the ACLU if something like this was tried in the US. Despite over sixty years of anti-German hate propaganda the Germans have more sense of self-preservation than Americans or Brits.

How precisely do their views on homosexuality relate to their loyalty or otherwise to Germany? Last time I checked, sodomy was not one of the bedrock values of German civilization.
So, a bit of sanity, but just replacing one pc insanity with a slightly less absurd one.

Seelow, yes, I remember being shocked to learn that despite all the leftist absolutism in Germany, their laws define foreigners born on German soil as foreigners.

Sodomy may not be a bedrock value of German civilization, but not stoning people because of their private behavior certainly is.  So a charitable interpretation of this is that the questions re: homosexuality are meant to gauge how willing the immigrants are to assimilate into western culture.  Homosexuals are singled out (as opposed to adulterers) because people have not been conditioned by an “adulterers activist” lobby to see adulterers as a persecuted group.

I thought it might be a Monty Python Questionnaire, I would not know why they would bother asking them anything about loyalty, well until Germany is an Islamic state at least. Hope that answers their question before they waste so much tax payer’s money on a stupid proposition. Loyalty indeed. Someone must have put a pile of Marijuana smoke in the Administrations air conditioning! Making excuses for them- for no normal thinking person would think such a silly Idea- Would there be?

The problem is, when I go to Germany I expect to see a place full of Germans.  I don’t want to go to Germany—what’s this state doing this, Baden-Würtemberg?—I don’t want to go to Baden-Würtemberg and see a place that’s full of Turks and Moroccans.  If I wanted that I’d go to Turkey and Morocco.  So, if the test eliminates all Turks and Moroccans it’s a good idea; if not, not.  Let them put some hard things on it like solving really hard differential equations, the kind Albert Einstein had to send out to his mathematician friend because they were too hard for him.  Let them put a few of those on the test.  Let them put some questions from the highest-level insurance-company actuarial exams, an essay that has to be written in flawless Chinese (to weed out the Moroccans) plus one that has to be written in flawless ancient Gothic (to weed out the Chinese), and a dissertation on Plateau’s Many Body problem—stuff like that.  Let them throw in a mandatory treatise on the grammatical differences between the two main dialects of Lithuanian and the three main ones of Latvian and how they all evolved from proto-Baltic.  If any of them pass, the final question they have to get right is a Bible is brought in written in Greek, Aramaic, and Hebrew and the test administrator puts his finger on the closed Bible, and the Moroccan or Turk or whoever has to correctly say what Greek, Aramaic, or Hebrew word is found under the spot where he put his finger on on every single page of the Bible.  If they get that right, the final hurdle should be a requirement of definitive DNA proof that all four of the candidate’s grandparents were racially a hundred-percent German as that term would have been understood in the year 1914.  If they pass all that then, OK, they can be granted German citizenship.  We Yankees have seen what the more lax way of granting citizenship has led to and, frankly, thanks but no thanks.

Joe Guzzardi’s take on proper criteria for admitting immigrants and granting citizenship, up tonight at Vdare.com, reveals his criteria are a lot less stringent than mine (I happen to share the Japanese/Israeli view of the question:  only blood gets to immigrate and become a citizen).  As can be seen from Joe’s column, Oz has come a long way in the one-hundred-and-eighty-degree wrong direction since he was turned down for immigration there.

Marc, so why, oh why would not the question just be about not stoning them, rather than the full like ‘em or leave?
Fact of the matter is, almost any pre60s European would fail this test.

Marc is giving us a false choice obviously. It isn’t a choice between stoning them to death and allowing them to marry and adopt children (and have their “lifestyle” celebrated as perfectly normal, and teach 10 year old kids that it is just a “normal” alternative lifestyle).

Homosexuals were never given the kind of political power and importance that they are being given now in the West. And, as Alex rightly points out, practically the entire human race pre-1960s would flunk this test. 

If Islamists believe in family, should we define ourselves as those who stand for the destruction of the family? If Islamists believe in devotion to God, should we define ourselves by a hatred for religion and by a love of hedonism?

It is one thing to distinguish ourselves from barbaric behaviour. It as another to choose a path that leads to our own destruction.

Alex,

Maybe the test does ask would-be immigrants if they approve of stoning gays.  Was the actual question re: homosexuality listed? 

Anyway, I wasn’t arguing in favor of such a question, so I wasn’t offering a “false” (or any type of) choice.  I’m all for some degree of gay acceptance, but my requirements for citizenship are akin to Fred’s.

Is this Germany’s Final Solution to the Muslim problem? We must hope not. Instead, the Hitlerian policy of the same name should be adopted. This means, as any moderately well-educated person knows, the expulsion but not ,of course, the extermination of the racially and culturally alien enemies of German civilisation.

The fact that the Green Party is upset about it means it is a small step in the right direction. ANYTHING that makes Muslims feel less welcome in Germany is to the good and a move away from lemminghood by the indigenous population. 
The previous policy was to give Muslims a pass when it comes to toeing the line of the PeeCee dictatorship. A break from the concept of special privilege for the alien is a good thing.
As far as the homosexual question goes, I recall that Pym Fortuyn played a useful role before he was gunned down by a pro-Muslim leftist.
