In America, which ethnic group is most ethnocentric? The General Social Survey asked respondents if they think about social and political issues as Americans or as members of an ethnic group. The obvious choice is blacks, right? Well yeah, there’s no news there. Listed below are the percent who answered ethnic group:

1. Blacks 43.5%
2. Mexicans 21.9
3. Jews 15.8
4. Italians 12.0
5. American Indians 7.8
6. Irish 5.1
7. Scots 4.8
8. English/Welsh 2.5
9. Germans .9

I bet the jewish number isn’t representative. They’re crafty enough to know better than to answer honestly. The same probably goes to a lesser extent for Mexicans. Blacks get a “get out of media spotlight free” card at birth so their figure is probably relatively accurate.

I don’t trust self-reporting. A test like the MMPI at least has a “lie scale”, and the test is itself tested. Quo vadis?

Svy-You forgot one thing-the Jews CONTROL the social and political aspects of our society in most regards,therefore what postulate they choose to operate under is basically the same. As for the Mexicans,the only people more ethnocentric are Muslims[of any stripe].Those little bastards[Mexicans] will tell you how good his sister is in the hay,while stealing your wallet. The Muslims truly despise all non-muslims,and is probably the most honest in declaring their ethnocentrism.Allah Akbar!

It occurred to me to add that “Americanness” has become to a large extent jewishness (Emma Lazarus’ poem as axiom, etc.), especially in the minds of jews, so obviously self-deception plays a part too. Is that what you meant with the quoted statement?

It’s impossible to say, really. While clearly Jews ACT more unabashedly for their perceived self interests as a group, and most other whites ACT in their short term, and perceived self interest as individuals, who can really estimate how many whites FEEL “white.” My guess is that more than 1 percent of German Americans are aware of their ethnicity, particularly when they are reminded daily about the shame of being German on top of being white, and certainly some of these Germans don’t react with shame but hostility, whether they bottle it are not. The Germans are wonderful “bottlers”, the events of history illustrate this well. And certainly German Americans would be the most reluctant to tell a pollster they feel ethnically German and not American.

That’s not the question. The question is one of pecking order, and in my experience the vast majority of white Americans (yes, in the neighborhood of 9x%) put state citizenship before ethnic membership.

But sure, it’s hard to tell when social pressures come into play.

Blacks feel pressure to identify as blacks first; whites feel pressure to identify as Americans first (with partial exceptions for Italians and Irish).

Agreed. Non-Jewish whites are the most deceived to believe the interests of this country are their interests, regardless of government policies. As to how proud we should be of that, at this moment, is another question.

However, the unpopularity of the current administration indicates that this retarded patriotism maybe crumbling as an oppositional force (as the nation itself crumbles.) And it seems one can only expect whites to become more disenchanted with American “politics"as it is a necessity of our occupiers to posit either ever more malleable and obviously incompetent dupes or ever more transparent dissemblers in seats of power.

‘Svy-Essentially yes-sort of like when Baron Rothschild sent all his progeny to the various centers of commerce in Europe to establish their banking empire[which is alive and well today].The first thing they were instructed to do was intergrate with the business community,and assimulate to that locales manner of practice,but still remember who they were.They became Swiss,German Austrian,Italian,etc.,on the surface;but were still Jews.
