Apologies for the down-time

MR was knocked off-line all day yesterday.  All I can say in our defence is that the crash was not pilot error.  The rippling effects of a new security regime put in place by our hoster were the cause.  But here we are again, and I hope we’ve seen the back of the problem.  My thanks to James for devoting so much time to it, and my apologies to all our readers for presenting them with twenty-four hours of fayre no more interesting than an error message.

It’s Official – fake money is as good as the real thing (if not better)

by Alexander Baron

Although he is unquestionably one of the most irksome presenters on British television, Dominic Littlewood has one major saving grace; here and there he presents a programme which has real educational value. On March 9, 2010, he presented the second of five episodes of Fake Britain, which among other things showed a police raid on an illegal factory where bank cards were being cloned, literally by the hundred.

Littlewood also visited the Yorkshire town of Ilkley where shopkeepers and publicans had been on the receiving end of a blitz of forged £20 notes, which had left many of them out of pocket, but the most interesting cameo was where he brought in a counterfeit coin specialist – a former employee of the Royal Mint – who in a near two hour shopping session in the capital managed to find seven fake one pound coins. There was probably nothing too surprising about that, nor with the claim that the police would not be the slightest bit interested if you, dear reader, were to take a fake pound coin to your local cop shop. Such a course of action may leave you out of pocket, but a dud coin passed here and there will not prompt any sort of investigation while the police have terrorists to chase and motorists to harass.

But the really surprising revelation was the reaction, or rather the non-reaction, of the Royal Mint to fake coins. Though it is estimated that some two and a half percent of one pound coins in circulation have been produced illegally, the Mint does not bother to take them out of circulation. While a forged twenty pound note will most definitely leave you out of pocket and may see you questioned by the police if not actually arrested, it is quite likely that you will continue to spend your quota of fake pound coins in your local shops, and as long as neither the shopkeeper nor the bank notices (or cares) your fake money will be every bit as good as the real thing.

Wadham and the EHRC win.  The existential will go ballistic.

The BBC is reporting on its ticker service that Judge Paul Collins, sitting in the Central London County Court, has ruled that the BNP’s new membership rules are “likely to discriminate”.  The basis for this ruling appears to be that prospective members sign up to principles including a duty to oppose the promotion of any form of “integration or assimilation” that impacted on the “indigenous British”, and to support the “maintenance and existence of the unity and integrity of the indigenous British”.

If this is the case, we have indeed arrived at the existential moment I described in my last blog on the party‘s legal travails:

We have reached a defining moment in the long process of racial destruction which began with the Atlee government turning its back on the people’s rights and instincts in 1948. The BNP has stripped away everything but the one essential principle that it must fight, and fight, and fight. The Establishment has, in attempting to force the discourse of the BNP to match its own, stripped away everything but the one essential principle that the native British must die as native Britons. This is no longer about “fascism” or “the hard right” or even “hate”. It is existential …

We need more information to come out before a proper assessment of the scale of the damage can be made.  But it looks like the BNP will now have to lodge an appeal against the ruling in order to be able to contest the forthcoming General Election.

Downstream from this ruling is the prospect that anti-discrimination law will be clarified and, possible then, hate speech law will be extended to make the expression of nationalist sentiment illegal too.  This, in my view, is the logical end-game.  The British government has already “affirmed” at the UN and in the EU that there is no such thing as an indigenous Briton.  These people really do mean to destroy us.

The consequences of such a legal trajectory would be that thousands of good men and women will be imprisoned and have their lives destroyed because they love their people and they love justice and freedom too much to remain silent, and unknown numbers of others will quickly come to see violence as the only path to our survival still open.

DDR or Third Reich, which would you choose?

Die Grenze (The Border) will be showing on German TV (Sat.1) at 20:15 on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

It’s based on a fight for power between the far right and far left in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the northeastern-most Bundesland in Germany, bordering Poland, and part of the former DDR, following terror strikes by al Qaeda on oil refineries during an economic crisis.  The Chancellor (a much fitter version of Merkel) has decided to secretly support the far left party in order to prevent the far right from coming to power.  In the BRD, collaboration between ‘conservatives’ and the far left is common, the most egregious recent example being their combined efforts to illegally block a demonstration on the 65th anniversary of the bombing of Dresden.  It looks like the film’s take-home message will be that political extremism in any form is dangerous, and we should continue to support the parties that are bankrupting and race-replacing the nation.

I’ll update the thread with impressions of the film next week.

My latest teleology

by Rod Cameron

I see one of the brothers has recently been writing about the end of teleology. I am a fan of teleology and whatever the brother was on about, it was not teleology. I wish he had found another word for his angst. Speculation about the future is what keeps us on the political margins going, so I thought I would show what it is about. Teleology is about joining a few dots to predict a glorious future. We all do it: take a few premises and cantilever an extrapolation till it crashes and burns. The critics of teleology say it is not within a million miles of being a pseudo-science, and they are right, but it is a lot of fun and I am actually serious, especially since the answer to the first question, “Where are we?” is damn obvious.

We are in a post-ideological age; we are beyond the debates based on political economy – Easy. Next dot, “What does that mean?” It means we are beyond trying to understand the world in terms of good and evil; we are beyond ethics. Dot 3, “Enlarge on that”. Basically ethics was behind ideology and in the end ethics had nothing to do with predicting the eventual answer which is known as liberal democracy or democratic capitalism. Dot 4, “So?” Well, look at our particular situation. Instead of a debate on immigration we get an ethical invective, “Racist!” And do we buy that as a comprehensive response? Does any-[intelligent]-one continue to think politics is applied ethics? Dot 5, “So?” Liberalism and its mate ethics are shagged-out. With their inane reply to the anti-immigrant protest they are begging us to say something really intelligent that will bury their faith in ethics. They are destined to be replaced and we have to get in early with some new Absolutes to replace the worn-out, simplistic one commonly associated with shagged-out Christianity. Dot 6, “You are sure history is against ethics?” All ethical absolutes finish up in the same place – the philosophy dump. Dot 7, “And you no doubt have a few Absolutes handy to fill the vacuum after ethics and thereby predict future developments in the world of ideas?” Yeah. And that is enough dots to get me started. I will have to make a few points before the teleology is launched.

The Revolution of Kai Murros

Dear Constantin,

I managed to find this translation of the article about me. This was in the English section of Helsingin Sanomat so the translation is much better than what I could have done. This article is actually quite funny, I like it—what do you think?

Yours
Kai

“The elite is blind. The state can’t be toppled by revolutionary masses of workers, but by capitalists blinded by greed. Information technology is the rope from which the capitalist will hang. The revolution will be fought on the terms of the middle classes. Liberals should be beaten every day!”
These quotes are taken from Kai Murros’ book The Revolution and its Execution in Modern Society.
The publisher was thrilled to finally get his hands on a Finnish political satire. This is Murros’ first book. The author, who is not using a pseudonym, is a thirty-something historian from the petty bourgeois district of Käpylä in Northern Helsinki. He has spent a year in China on a scholarship.
Murros is now a self-designated “Marxist”, and when he was a student he was the chairman of the rather more conservative Töölö National Society. He says that he is intrigued by people who join political parties.

Linda Carty, the Reprieve lie machine, and the bleeding heart of Clive Stafford Smith

by Alexander Baron

An obscure if somewhat bizarre murder case from the State of Texas is back in the news, and the bleeding heart liberals are banging the drum again, this time for a convicted murderess who is facing execution by lethal injection.

Surprisingly, though Linda Carty is black, her principal supporters haven’t quite played the race card; they have though overplayed their hand with an endless stream of half-truths and bland acceptance of demonstrable lies. Carty’s case has garnered a great deal of unwarranted publicity in the UK and has been endorsed uncritically by the mass media because she is said to be a British citizen, a claim that is true only in a purely technical sense. Her supporters have played a tape of her begging for her life, and a cardboard cut out of her was erected on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square during the recent innovative living artwork exhibition. Those like the current writer who have longer memories, suspicious minds and a reluctance to take the top fifty Google listings at face value, will be less than impressed.

According to an article on Reprieve’s website, to which its director, campaigning lawyer Clive Stafford Smith contributed, it’s all down to her incompetent lawyer, a flawed trial and a frame-up, if not by the authorities then by the actual perpetrators. Carty was convicted of the murder of a young mother who was bound, gagged, and stuffed in the boot of a car (that’s the trunk to US readers). The evidence shows clearly that the death of Joana Rodriguez was not an unfortunate accident – which might just have reduced it to second degree murder or even manslaughter - it was an intentional and cruel act. Unlike her, Carty’s co-defendants – whom she had tricked into the kidnapping – were interested only in stealing drugs and money from the apartment the victim shared with her common law husband and his cousin.

Sally Rowan of Reprieve wrote:

If Texas go ahead with her execution, Linda will die because she had a bad lawyer, and because the British Government was not given the chance to help her at a time when it could have made a difference.

Yes, that bad lawyer again, but why should the State of Texas allow the British Government to dictate to it how it should run its criminal justice system - even if the British Government were so minded?

So what exactly are Carty and her supporters claiming?

Humour and the English Disease

If Majority Rights can be said to have a defining characteristic, then that would have to be the earnestness of its contributors and commentariat. That observation is not intended in a pejorative sense, indeed many blogs with a political orientation share that characteristic. What is somewhat perplexing though is the extent to which (over-)earnestness prevails, given the nationality of its proprietor and a goodly proportion of its readership.

This particular exegesis has been prompted by an exchange in a currently-running marathon thread in which the topic of British humour was briefly introduced. This involved two estimable contributors, neither of whom are English, as far as I aware, who raised cogent points about its psychological interpretation. So, rather than creating an unnecessary diversion I have attempted to provide some minor insight into that question here, and perhaps stimulate some lively debate in the process.

British humour or, more precisely, its English strain, is a peculiar beast, often mystifying to continentals and colonials alike. For the latter, exposure to the genre has consisted in the main of an unleavened diet of Benny Hill and Monty Python, both of which were correctly viewed as being untranslatable yet superficially accessible exemplars of broad slapstick and high pantomime, respectively. Most other offerings along the wide spectrum of English comedy, from the likes of ‘Til Death Us Do Part’ to ‘The Office’, when not confined to cultural ghettos such as PBS and BBC America, have had to be ‘localized’ to render them palatable to a mainstream audience. Some (much?) English humour is neither translatable nor transportable, especially that which is really critical social commentary or touches on awkward sensibilities.

An example of the latter can be seen in the following clip from the hugely popular ‘Spitting Image’ series. Many will be familiar with a similar parody from Monty Python in which Mr. Hilter together with chums Reggie Goering and Heinrich Bimmler are discovered in a Cornish boarding-house planning for a surreptitious invasion of the resort-town of Minehead. But the encounter here between Frau-Führerchen Thatcher and Herr von Wilcox is much darker in tone and typical of the Spitting Image oeuvre, being by design overtly political, borderline libelous and often, as here, merciless to sacred cows. To my knowledge Spitting Image has never found an audience in the US and is still unavailable on home video there.

True Science is Barbaric

A recent conversation with what might be thought of as an American Brahmin, (which seem to be coming back into vogue) included the following exchange (paraphrased):

Me: The problem with central planning is the problem with all the social sciences—the failure to respect experimentation over argumentation.  That’s why I support greater State autonomy.

American Brahmin: Ignoring the legacy of the Civil War, the entire issue of States Rights has been contaminated by the western States where there is a great deal of conflict over Federal lands.

Me: All the more reason to clarify exactly the role of States Rights with regard to scientific understanding.

American Brahmin: You really have to give up on this idea of experimentation.

Me: You are then imposing on nonconsenting human subjects unvalidated treatments!

American Brahmin: There are rules of inference in the social sciences that allow you to draw conclusions.

Me:  Such inferences appear to be so weak as to render treatments based on them unethical.  That’s what the struggle between science and theocracy was all about in the Enlightenment:  Experimentation over Argumentation.  What was left undone there was the recognition that consent of the governed cannot be achieved through a tyranny of the majority limited only by a vague laundry list of selectively enforced human rights.  You _must_ reallocate territory and encourage people to vote with their feet.

American Brhamin:  You’re denying the value of Polity!!!

Me: No, I’m saying that the philosophy of science is the proper basis for Polity...

And so forth…

The thing that struck me about this conversation is the attitude of the American Brahmin toward experimentation—as though Polity—or to cast another light on it, Politeness—rendered experimentation somehow less than Civil.

That’s when it struck me that true science is in fact Barbaric and will always be treated thus by ruling elites of any Polity because Polity depends on faith in a set of—usually unstated—hypotheses in human ecology adopted by religious faith as pragmatic enforcement of elite powers.

The New Rome; or, the United States of the World (1853)

There is a presumed history of things that is taught to most, that even the less powerful from amongst the elites believe...and then there is another history of these events, that only a relative few and powerful know.  It is important for those wishing to see not only the preservation of their own people, but the other various peoples of the world as well that make up humanity, to have an excellent grasp of the past so as to see clearly as to what to do in the present.  Hence entries here such as this...

rome_wide.jpg

The Revolutions of 1848 are suppressed across Europe and many of the revolutionary leaders and those that took part flee their countries.  Thousands from Germany that took part in the 1848 revolution there are granted refuge in the United States, amongst them one by the name of Theodore Poesche (1824-1899), a student revolutionary from the University at Halle.  Poesche, in cooperation with a person of German ancestry in the US by the name of Charles Goepp, would write a book in 1852 and entitle it The New Rome; or, the United States of the World, which is free and on-line at the linked title, and it would be published in 1853 (seven years before the election of Abraham Lincoln
) by the major US book publisher G P Putnam with its offices located in New York City and London.  This book in its opening pages claims to be a ‘a horoscope’, ‘a map of the future of mankind’, and ‘what must be’.

The book emphasizes five primary points which are as follows and in this order…

1) The separation of the United States and the British Empire is intended to be but ‘temporary’ so as to allow the order of things being established in the New World time to experience its ‘realization’...ie the United States needs time to gain strength.  In the future the United States and the British empire will re-unite.  (bottom of pg.87 and top of page 88)

2) At the time that the US and UK re-unite, thus forming ‘the Anglo-Saxon Empire’, the center of power of the British Empire will move from England to the United States, ‘its real center’, and the US will ‘take the lead’.  (bottom of pg 87 and top of pg 88)

3) The US and UK (’the Anglo-Saxon empire’), ‘having received its legitimate organization’, will co-jointly conquer and gain control of Germany, and lay hold an ‘unyielding grasp upon the countries of the Germanic confederation’.  (bottom of pg 95 and bottom of pg105)

4) Immediately following the conquest of Germany by the US and UK, a struggle will ensue centered upon Europe (in time encompassing the entire globe) between specifically the United States and Russia.  The United States will prevail in this struggle with Russia.  (pgs 105, 107, & 109)

5) The United States will ultimately acquire ‘the empire of the world’ economically by way of Capitalism.  (the entire book)

Cameron on Griffin and the MultiCult

David Cameron gave a speech sans notes to his party’s Spring Conference today (ie, it was more sincere than usual).  It included a jaw-dropping three-minute passage that makes very satisfying listening for every BNP member.  His theme was “winning it for Britain”.  I won’t write anymore.  Just listen for yourself - in particular for the loudest cheer.

Absurd assumptions about life’s advantages

Eugenics was universally condemned as being either cruel or pseudoscientific until genetic engineering and the human genome project made positive eugenics increasingly practical. Now many on the Left argue that we must make reproductive technology available to everyone. Others argue that genetic manipulations for the purpose of eugenic enhancement should be forbidden. Sometimes the argument is made that children born with these artificial “enhancements” will be deprived of living an open-ended life, free to choose for themselves what they shall become.

The idea seems to be that in a just society, a well intentioned person would naturally shun any unfair advantage over others. Paula Rothenberg’s White Privilege: Essential Readings on the Other Side of Racism, 2008, makes this argument. She writes: “But, let us assume that I am a white person, and after reading the articles in this book I am persuaded that there is such a thing as white privilege and that I benefit from it. Why might I want to rid myself of that privilege rather than continue to enjoy it and pass it along to my children? The answer has to do with simple notions of fairness and justice. Most people would feel little sense of pride or accomplishment in winning a race they started with an unfair advantage or winning a game when the deck was stacked in their favor. The satisfaction of such ‘victories’ is short-lived at best. Once I begin to recognize how much of my success is a consequence of unfair advantage, I cannot help but begin to seek ways to make amends.”

Was It Real For You?

by The Narrator

“Own a flat screen television? If not you’re missing out. In high definition everything is so clear and real looking …”

A trendy comment today on movies or TV shows is “realistic”. Over and over I hear this adjective applied to various bits of entertainment as an endorsement of it. The special effects are “realistic” or the fight scenes are “realistic” and so on.

I have to wonder, what exactly does it mean to say a movie is realistic? If there are writers, actors, directors, editors, pre-production, post production, sound and visual effects companies involved over the course of generally a year and half, what exactly does “real” mean in regards to packaged entertainment?

One example I’ve heard pointed out is the ubiquitous ‘blue screen’ or back-projections employed in films since the 1920’s, if not before. These were most commonly used in scenes where an actor or actress appears to be driving. Now they are quite obviously in a mock-up of a car in front of a projection of scenery going by. But does this matter?

I’ve read that the reason special effects have improved is that audiences today are more sophisticated than those in past times. However, is the need to be convinced that a space-ship is realistically rendered in CGI as it dog fights with aliens from Beta reticuli on the planet Zorbom really demonstrative of a sophisticated mindset?

It may seem an insignificant question but it gets to the heart of the current mentality of many a citizen of The West and their relationship with media.

And it isn’t just in the realm of goofy sci-fi films. A few years back I was encouraged to see a new James Bond film because, and I quote, “it’s not like the old ones. This one is more grounded and realistic.” I’ve never been much of a James Bond fan but I gave it a shot. And within the first twenty minutes I witnessed a superhuman comic book character running mile after mile without breaking a sweat, men free-climbing buildings like Spiderman, people jumping to the ground from two stories up (from atop cranes) –tuck-roll- then hop up and start running some more. This was capped off by the hero single-handedly defeating an army of heavily armed soldiers and slipping away during a massive explosion that, though wreaking tremendous damage and knocking everyone to the ground (save the hero), did not appear to harm a hair on anyone’s head. Apparently this was “realistic”.

‘A Dark Intrigue…’ The Revolutions of 1848

There is a presumed history of things that is taught to most, that even the less powerful from amongst the elites believe...and then there is another history of these events, that only a relative few and powerful know.  It is important for those wishing to see not only the preservation of their own people, but the other various peoples of the world as well that make up humanity, to have an excellent grasp of the past so as to see clearly as to what to do in the present.  Hence entries here such as this...

Starting in France, in February of 1848, revolutions would sweep much of Europe.  These Revolutions of 1848 would be a major milestone in the construction of the continental super-state then called the United States of Europe and today called the European Union...yet in some places this event is known of well before it takes place.  In London, over a year prior, all eyes are upon British Foreign Secretary Lord Palmerston, a person of very high rank in a certain international organization, in regards to shocking pronouncements he has made about the near term future of Europe as a whole as published below in the November 26, 1846 edition of The London Spectator, and republished in the United States on January 2, 1847 in Littell’s Living Age.  Even earlier, and reflecting a dysfunctional relationship between the Jewish and a European people, Benjamin Disraeli in his 1844 book Coningsby also seems to speak of these 1848 revolutions.

The most striking occurrence of the week is not an event, but some writing, highly Palmerstonian in its savor. According to this characteristic effusion, all Europe is about to be in commotion. A dark intrigue is seen in every region...You would think there was going to be instant war - in Italy, in Schleswig, in Switzerland, in Poland - everywhere.

Horace_Vernet-Barricade_rue_Soufflot.jpg
February 1848 Revolution in France - Barricade on the rue Soufflot by Horace Vernet

The London Spectator - November 21, 1846

The most striking occurrence of the week is not an event, but some writing, highly Palmerstonian in its savor. According to this characteristic effusion, all Europe is about to be in commotion. A dark intrigue is seen in every region, with France at the bottom of it all. The French government, we are told, has forfeited its position by the Montpensier marriage; must prepare to submit to indignities all round; and is making ready, in its truckling for pardon, to perpetrate a series of international crimes…

...Thus may France procure assent to her attempted ascendency in the penninsula. “It is true, that to combat such a combination, we have Lord Palmerston at the Foreign Office, and Lord Ponsonby at Vienna.” Too true, indeed. It is an extraordinary coincidence, that no sooner does Lord Palmerston return to office, than this universal conspiring reappears. Perhaps there is something really the matter, though not abroad. The suspicion of being the object for universal conspiracy is one trait of madness, and Lord Palmerston exhibits that symptom with renewed intensity, as though the excitements of office were too much for him. But “we” do not rely altogether on ourselves; “we rely more on the alacrity of the French Opposition to denounce these new tendencies of the policy of their government.” Lord Palmerston then reckons on hubbub in Paris as before 1841; more interpellations, more fuss making about shadowy constructive suspicions of intrigue, more diplomatic turmoil, more despatch writing! If a busy attorney, who wished to seem yet busier than he was, established himself in a country town, and set himself to work detecting flaws in the title deeds and leases all round, or presuming and imputing them all round, with a view to the general litigation that would ensue, the restlessness and turmoil excited in the country would be much like the feeling created in Europe, according to these ministerial accounts, just at the time Lord Palmerston returns to business. You would think there was going to be instant war - in Italy, in Schleswig, in Switzerland, in Poland - everywhere.

In the midst of these revolutions, in March of 1848, The London Times would publish an editorial exhorting Europe to follow the model of the United States as quoted below, italics in original.  Editorials in that paper are significant as they have long been seen as a mouthpiece of official British government thought regarding policy, much as the New York Times is in the US regarding the US government…

Pay-Back for the BNP

by Rod Cameron

New Labour’s decision to put the EHRC dog onto the BNP has cost New Labour dearly. Not only has New Labour disowned its Working Class roots, but also it has handed over on a silver plate the most precious part of its history, its formative years, to the BNP. History of a century and more ago has repeated. The danger inherent to becoming part of the Establishment is to forget your forebears and their struggles, and then you surrender your political soul. I offer you this analogy.

THE BRITISH LABOUR MOVEMENT AND THE BRITISH NATIONAL PARTY

The decision by Nick Griffin to change the constitution of the BNP to allow blacks and Asians to join, following pressure from the EHRC, should be received by the BNP with a certain sanguinity. Knowledge of the rise of the British Labour Movement will result in a wry acceptance that this is “par for the course”. Not for the first time social realities are being ignored and Establishmentarian forces are arrayed against the political newcomer.

The Social Reality

Trade unionism and opposition to immigration were preservationist/survivalist reactions to social realities. The Labour Movement was motivated by the need for working-class preservation. The BNP arises from the desire for ethnic self-preservation.

Establishmentarian Reactions

The End of Teleology

by Potential Frolic

Teleology is the attempt to become an image of greatness, or perfection, or fruition.

Previously, we looked at reasons why Palingenesis has negative aspects attaching to its political program, and how these negative aspects mar its positive aspect, which is unification of a people.

In moving from a discussion of Palingenesis to a discussion of Teleology, we’re moving from the social level to the individual level. Palingenesis regulates how social entities relate to each other, using politics and philosophy as means. Teleology regulates the relation of men to themselves, within the confines of their own minds, using images and rationalization as means. It is thus more intimate, and much more interesting.

Teleology precedes palingenesis. This is because the ideological underpinnings of palingenesis were conceived for the purpose of realizing teleological striving. For example, it was the struggle of individuals to reconnect to historical precedents, a connection to which is only possible in imagination, which begot the political manifestation of same. It was the intelligent individual’s realization of his smallness on the historical stage, and his desire to draw to himself more weight and meaning, that forged the rhetorical connections to ancient Germania and Hellas in germans of the 19th century. This can be seen, for example, in the philological posturing of Friedrich Nietzsche, alledging a special connection to ancient Hellas, discovered uniquely by him in his readings. The actual accuracy of his assertions in The Birth of Tragedy - assertions not less sweeping than those he would make in later books - were demolished in a point-by-point critique by Wilamowitz. Not that this detracts from the philosophical content of his writings. It can be seen however, that the appeal to ancient greek authority is important in 19th century literary personality combat. One finds similar idea content in Evola.

Don’t even use a question mark in Hungary

From yesterday’s The Jerusalem Post:

Hungary passes Holocaust denial bill

BUDAPEST— Hungary’s parliament on Monday approved a bill making Holocaust denial punishable by up to three years in prison, but the measure may be unconstitutional.

Lawmakers passed the bill submitted by Attila Mesterhazy, the prime ministerial candidate of the governing Socialist Party, by 197-1, with 142 abstentions.

Earlier attempts to ban Holocaust denial have been rejected by the courts for infringing on freedom of speech. Efforts to modify the Constitution to ensure the bill’s legality have also failed.

Mesterhazy’s proposal was backed by the Socialists and most of the Alliance of Free Democrats, a former coalition partner. Most members of Fidesz, the main center-right opposition party, and their allies, the Christian Democrats, abstained after Fidesz’s wish to also include the denial of Nazi and Communist crimes in the bill was rejected.

Free Democrat Gabor Horn, who voted in favor of the bill, questioned the timing of the Socialists’ proposal and wondered why a similar effort by his own party a few months ago was not accepted.

“The difference is that six months ago there was no campaign,” Horn said.

... Hate speech and incitement to violence against minorities is already a crime in Hungary, but Monday’s bill adds “denying, questioning or making light of the Holocaust” to the penal code.

In mentioning the forthcoming general election in Hungary the report at least acknowledges that Jobbik is “expected to easily clear the five percent threshold needed to enter parliament.” So something not to the Jewish taste is afoot there, at least.

Friends of Epic Beard Man 2-20-201

Greetings,

This message is to inform you that I met Thomas Brusco, aka Epic Beard Man yesterday.  There has been a huge outpouring of support for him and I would like to thank everyone for showing your concern for what he had to go through.

As you probably know there are a ton of new websites selling Epic Beard Man merchandise and various websites that claim to be created as his legal defense fund or a place to send him donations.  Tom is not associated with these websites and websites that claim to be made by him and soliciting donations are scams.

The only website that I can confirm has said they will send a portion of the proceeds is iamamotherfucker.com

To send a donation to [EBM] please ONLY send a check to:

Thomas Bruso
1720 MacArthur Blvd.  Unit 507
Oakland, CA 94602-1777

I can tell you that interacting with Tom is quite an experience and on public transportation and walking on the street he loves to talk with his fans.  I would suggest sending him a short note of why you are writing and include a stamped self addressed envelope so that he can send you a note of appreciation in return.  I will mention that thanks to generous donations from his fans he has been able to get the money he needs to attend his mom’s funeral.

A couple people have asked about who I am and I’m a San Francisco activist involved with various community organizing groups that do things like help the homeless and charity fundraisers.  I’m not associated with anyone selling EBM merchandise and like you wanted to show my concern for what he had to go through with this ordeal.

Thanks!
Andrew Yeoman

I AM A MOTHERFUCKER

Majority Rights is a site where restraint in dialogue is the rule. MR does not giddily follow every internet “meme” like a gormless schoolgirl addicted to social networking. For these and other reasons we have not yet covered the Epic Beard Man controversy. But dignity and gravitas must sometimes yield to exigency; we can keep silence no more. Andrew Yeoman and the Bay Area National Anarchists are in contact with EBM, who is not facing any criminal charges as a result of the incident, but whose life has been greatly changed by the storm of publicity that broke last week.

Be a hep cat. Stop talking about “back in the day” and BE THE DAY.

Hess and Disraeli on the Subjects of Germany and Race

Commentary of Moses Hess and Benjamin Disraeli on the subjects of Germany and race.  The quotes are somewhat reflectant of the dysfunctional relationship that has long existed between the European and Jewish peoples.

Moses Hess (1812-1875), who brought Engels and Marx to socialism, and was prominent in the early development of what would in time be called Zionism, had much to say regarding Judaism, Race, and Germany, in his mid nineteenth century book Rome and Jerusalem.

Moses Hess

“The pious Jew is above all a Jewish patriot. The “new” Jew, who denies the existence of the Jewish nationality, is not only a deserter in the religious sense, but is also a traitor to his people, his race and even to his family...”

“And yet, on the basis of my long experience, I feel inclined to assert that Germany as a whole, in spite of its collective intellectuality, is in its practical social life far behind the rest of the civilized nations of Europe. The race war must first be fought out and definitely settled before social and humane ideas become part and parcel of the German people...” Moses Hess - 1862

Excerpt From ‘Sixth Letter’ of Hess’s Rome and Jerusalem

You think my judgment in regard to the relation of the Germans to our brethren, as well as of the progressive German Jews to the Jewish people, too severe and dogmatic. You say that there are many noble spirits among the Germans who have banished from their hearts every trace of race prejudice and are permeated with the spirit of justice and humanity. And as for the progressive Jews, you think that many of them have always displayed a fine spirit of self-sacrifice when the honor of their religion or the welfare of their brethren called for -it; and that those noble spirits came principally from the ranks of those who distinguished themselves in the field of science, or commerce, or industry, and thus acquired high positions in society. To these just strictures I willingly subscribe, for I admit that my judgment was too general in its character, and it can only be justified by the fact that it was written under the influence of the Damascus affair. To-day I would hesitate very much before subscribing to it. It cannot enter my mind, at present, to deny the Teutonic race, and especially the German people, whose mental power I esteem so highly, the ability to rise, by means of progress, above race prejudice. The German spirit has other representatives than patriotic Romanticists and philosophic book-dealers. A nation that produced men like Lessing, Herder, Schiller, Hegel, Humboldt and many more champions of humanity, must certainly possess the ability to rise to the heights of spirituality and idealism.
