SMERSH was a counterintelligence unit whose ostensible mission was to ferret out spies, but like its cousins the NKVD, OGPU, and the Cheka it was really a police state apparatus used to destroy people,  whether innocent or guilty; this Solzhenitsyn knew, having been arrested and sent to the Gulag.

SMERSH could not thrive without a network of informers to feed the system. Where better to find troublemakers than at a newspaper? In a truly Stalinist manner

are forwarding “hateful” letters—those critical of homosexuals, Jews, illegal immigrants, including letters written by Concerned Women for America – to the terror organization known as the ADL.

Very correct.  But is it effective policing?

From today’s Telegraph:-

A sixteen-year-old girl was murdered after she and a friend were assaulted over three hours by a gang of up to six men, police said yesterday.

Mary-Ann Leneghan was stabbed in the neck and her body was found in a park.

Her friend, who has not been named, was recovering in hospital yesterday after being shot and stabbed.

She managed to escape her attackers and staggered from Prospect Park, Reading, Berks, to raise the alarm by flagging down a passing motorist.

Detectives leading the murder hunt said the two teenagers were lured into a car parked in the centre of the town on Friday night.

The girls, in what police believe may have been a “state of great distress”, were taken to a nearby bed and breakfast hotel where they were assaulted over three hours ...

Mr Warwick added: “They suffered from a series of assaults throughout the evening, culminating in the death of the 16-year-old.

“It would appear that they had been in the company of this group of males and they had been assaulted during this time.”

Police would not confirm suggestions by close friends and family that Mary-Ann’s hair had been shaved off and that she had suffered burn wounds to her head from cigarettes ...

Mr Warwick said that the men police are looking for may be of mixed race, white or Afro-Caribbean.

So not much doubt about that, then.  But, of course, we must never be told so, never be led to believe that white men tend not to prosecute sexual assaults in groups of six.  The propensity to rape and murder must, must, must be equally distributed among ourselves and our, of course, always vibrant communities.  A bit hard on the orderly, under-endowed Chinese, but equality is the thing, isn’t it?

Meanwhile, we must celebrate our diversity and agree not to look too closely into the racial identity of our daughters’ rapists and murderers.  That would be racist and totally, inexcusably wrong.  That would be inegalitarian.  That would threaten the Multi-Cult.  And, Marx-knows, the Multi-Cult is worth any number of dead white sixteen-year old girls.  Which is why the future must, must, must continue to be multicultural.  You lucky people.  And you lucky girls.

The sick thinking behind the Atlanta tragedy

Facing reporters after Brian Nichols’s homicidal rampage and escape from the Fulton County Courthouse, Howard was asked about the wisdom in having a lone female deputy sheriff escorting a large man accused of a violent sex crime. A sensible question, certainly, what with three people freshly murdered (a fourth soon would follow) and a madman now running loose on the streets of Atlanta. The gathered reporters and anyone watching on television might have anticipated a reasoned, thoughtful response, perhaps to include a call for the re-evaluation of the relevant courthouse policies. Alas, no such response was forthcoming.

BBC News and the colour of crime

The current British news page at bbc.co.uk carries eight murder stories at various stages of development:-

Cannibal gets life for killings
Jury hears final Wragg arguments
Man charged over street axe death
Shootings jury considers verdict
Elderly woman ‘killed by burglar
Teenager guilty over cap killing
Killer drink-drive officer jailed
Car ‘breakthrough’ in Milly case

Of the five cases in which the perpetrator or perpetrators are known three have black defendants.  Bear in mind how often we are assured that blacks represent no more than 2% of British society.

It is a subject upon which I blogged last December.  It is a subject upon which I shall blog in the future.  So long as an African population is living amongst us there will be a thumping increase in our violent crime and murder statistics.  Victims as yet still breathing the keen March air will be taken in the name of multiculturalism or economic growth or global hegemony or Jewish security …

Our political masters are not race realists.  But they know very well the racial identities of our most serious criminals.  They simply will not put together the two halves of the equation:  Does that African population benefit us more than it costs us in life, treasure and peace of mind?  And if it doesn’t what should we do about it?

The destruction of policing in Britain goes on apace

The U.K. Labour Party Government’s only solution to huge levels of crime by minorites is more bureaucracy and more restrictions on what police can do

The Chief Constable of one of Britain’s biggest forces has admitted that officers cannot cope with the level of violent crime.  Steve Green, Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire, said yesterday that current financing arrangements left his force unable to cope with the number of murders which have overwhelmed his officers.

The decay of the British police

“An ex-police officer writing to The Daily Telegraph compared his time as a young constable attached to Harrow Road Police Station in London in 1966, to that of today’s police “management”. He indicated that his superintendent expected his officers to be on the beat and woe betide you if you were found in the police station for no good reason. The superintendent’s view was that you did your reports on the beat or in the police box, so that there would be a continuous presence on the streets. Not only that, he would often be seen walking the ground himself, at all hours of the night. He added, that whatever happened though, you know you would be supported if you were acting in good faith and in the public interest. He compared that to the modern police officer which, when it comes to everyday policing, is rudderless and leaderless, hence the current state of inertia.

The above ex-police officer’s comments are not just a trip down memory lane. Since the late 1960s there have been fundamental changes in the management of the police force. Up until that time, a large percentage of police officers were recruited from the armed forces. They had joined after the Second World War and by the mid-sixties, many had reached the rank of Inspector or Superintendent and Chief Superintendent. Although they were in a “civilian” rather than military role, their military discipline still pervaded and this was reflected in their attitude and style of management, i.e. strict discipline and leadership from the front.
