The Dungy Affair

On December 22nd James Dungy, son of NFL coach Tony Dungy, died in an apparent suicide.  A few days ago a Stormfront post brought James’ Myspace.com profile (or rather, a Web cache of it) to my attention.  It consists mainly of stereotypical homages to black nihilism but one thing stood out, Dungy’s listing of the D.C. Snipers as his heroes.  Stretching my ebonics to the limit, the best translation I can summon is that he admired the D.C. snipers because they showed that whites aren’t the only race able to go ‘round the bend.  He expressed surprise that they’d turned out non-white.  (if the junior Dungy had read this he might’ve been even more surprised).

The virtue of Italian cardinals

I am not sure how to interpret the tale of two not particularly current documents circulated by the Church in Italy, and both disapproving of mixed marriages between Italian women and Muslim immigrants to Italy.  Yes, it’s extremely heartening that this message is being spoken.  But I am puzzled why the BBC’s Rome correspondent should file this article at all.

This is what he says:-

The Lexicon of Kulturkampf

I found the BBC’s disparate treatment of the Sydney and France riots instructive.  In typical mass media fashion*, we are served spinversions of the truth that result in - to borrow and adapt Justin Raimondo’s favored term - Bizarro World.

I apologize to the dialup users (I’m on dialup myself), but the images are the point.

* I suddenly find the term “leftist mass media” redundant.

Political scientists quantify media bias ... and it’s liberal

Thanks to Michael R for the link to this interesting survey of US media.

While the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal is conservative, the newspaper’s news pages are liberal, even more liberal than The New York Times. The Drudge Report may have a right-wing reputation, but it leans left. Coverage by public television and radio is conservative compared to the rest of the mainstream media. Meanwhile, almost all major media outlets tilt to the left.

These are just a few of the surprising findings from a UCLA-led study, which is believed to be the first successful attempt at objectively quantifying bias in a range of media outlets and ranking them accordingly.

“I suspected that many media outlets would tilt to the left because surveys have shown that reporters tend to vote more Democrat than Republican,” said Tim Groseclose, a UCLA political scientist and the study’s lead author. “But I was surprised at just how pronounced the distinctions are.”

“Overall, the major media outlets are quite moderate compared to members of Congress, but even so, there is a quantifiable and significant bias in that nearly all of them lean to the left,” said co?author Jeffrey Milyo, University of Missouri economist and public policy scholar.

One can, I guess, query the utility of the left-right model.  But one can’t query the utility of a formal measure of bias that pitches even supposedly right-wing media in the centre or left-of-centre.  It’s what we’ve always known - liberalism is endemic and the bulk of those who consider themselves on the right aren’t.

The full report will be published in The Quarterly Journal of Economics, due out any day now.

Mainstream Massage

It passes the obvious to say that the internet offers a host of political and news commentary of a character the mainstream media disdain.  Over the last year or so there has been some considerable debate about the uneasy relationship between the two.  MSM journalists don’t like to be attacked from the fringes, and surely take much gratification from net journalism that descends into shoddiness and irresponsibility.  I bet, though, they would kill for the freedom of speech we take for granted.  It’s their rotten luck they don’t have it - and we do.  It must be intensely annoying to have us freely deride them as bought and paid-for hacks.

But lest you start to feel too sorry for them, just remember the sins of ommission which characterised MSM reporting at the outset of the Paris riots or the post-Katrina looting.  And just take a moment to read this piece from the Toronto Star.

No bias here

A black professor calls for the extermination of all whites and we hear nothing about it from the mainstream media. How odd!  They’re too busy re-running pictures of terrorists being humiliated at Abu Ghraib, I guess.  And two little girls who expressed WHITE nationalist sentiments got blanket coverage, of course.

St Nelson is da number one big boss.  All fall down.

The BBC’s “interactive Power Play game, in which players were invited to choose a team of 11 to run the world from a list of around 100 of the most powerful leaders, thinkers and other high-profile people on the planet”, has declared for ... well, it’s bloody obvious really.

The runner-up was the man who never had sex with that woman.  Still more inexplicable, Noam Chomski came in at number 4 and Archbishop Desmond Tutu - a nifty dancer but not hitherto a man I would have judged fit for global governance - made it at number 8.

George Soros, the well-known

white-hater

philanthropist just pipped that embodiment of open-handed diplomacy, Kofi Annan - who came in last of the eleven.

Pixie-Face grinned his way to number 12.  Michael Moore - wouldn’t you love to have that guy in charge? - was 15th.

The good news is that the game was intended for the BBC’s younger readers who are yet to develop much in the way of critical thinking - more than half of respondents voted for the godman of Africa.  The bad news is that modern educational methods may deprive these young and impressionable minds forever of that possibility.

Let it also be noted that the BBC picked the list of 100 possible candidates itself, which narrowed the field somewhat.  As a sop to Conservatives they included OBL.  He came 70th but has declared jihad on the top 69.  He has also declared jihad on everyone below him.  Well, just on everyone, actually.

Government-Media Complex’s Reach is Broad

“The average American is a ravenous media junkie, consuming up to nine hours a day of television, web time or cellphone minutes…”

“The Ball State survey found… television [is] the most dominant media device…  Another suprising find is that 18 to 24-year-olds spend less time online than any other age group except for the over 65s….”

Theodore Dalrymple asks, is “The Guardian” institutionally racist?

This is another “read the whole thing” article  but below is the beginning of it.  Dalrymple normally seems to avoid all mention of race—perhaps because he is himself Jewish— but “The Guardian” finally seems to have got his goat:

Is The Guardian - the best newspaper in Britain - institutionally racist? Alas, I think the answer must be a resounding Yes.  I had long had the impression that blacks were over-represented in photographs published in the newspaper by comparison with people from the Indian subcontinent or with the Chinese, and I tested the accuracy of my impression by counting the photographs in the edition of 19th September 2005.

Whose Media? Whose Narrative? Whose History?

Today a demonstrator interrupted PM Blair, but not just any demonstrator. The heckler was a Mr. Walter Wolfgang a veteran “peace campaigner” and a Nazi death camp escapee. Interruptions such as the one by Mr. Wolfgang are not uncommon but never have I read such a lavish biography of a heckler - complete with links venerating the holocaust. Though the main topic of the report purports to be an expose of tightening security procedures, in fact it is nothing more than an exercise in the politics of White guilt.

If you follow the link Lessons of the Holocaust the BBC manages to drag the BNP into the mud…

‘Evil in us all’

Former Labour minister Stephen Twigg… said “If we are going to address some of the real challenges, one of the ways we will certainly do that is through citizenship education in our schools, and as part of that Holocaust education… The reason this happens is because we stop thinking of other groups of people as human beings like ourselves. They become easy to demonise”.

In the very next paragraph we are introducted to the BNP spokesman.

Just Who is Really Guilty?

Reading the Washington Post’s coverage of the Chai Soua Vang trial one might see the killing of 6 Whites as a justified act!

“Everyone was white,” Chou Vang said. “They do not understand. They will never understand what my brother went through out there,” she said. “He was not a dog to sit there and let them shoot at him. He was proud of who he is.”

[The trial] exposed racial tension between the predominantly white north woods residents and immigrants from the Hmong ethnic group.

Where are the quotes from the dead men’s families? Where are the photos of the grieving widows and children of the murdered?

Follow Up on KTHV Story

(Original Report Here)

UPDATE: Please read all the comments on this post before acting.

This Monday I received an email from .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) the KTHV media outlet which reported the rape of a 13 year old Arkansas girl by a Negro “evacuee” from New Orleans. In this third correspondence the email states:

We do not know her race, only her age and that she was reportedly mentally challenged. Police have not released any other information.

This response seems incongruous with the two previous emails in which I requested identification of the victim’s race, KTHV stated: first, “what difference does it make” ; and second, “we must protect the victim’s identity”.

The third email from KTHV also referenced a Lt. Rodney Neighbors of the Garland County Sheriff’s Department, the public relations officer managing this case.

I called Officer Neighbors at 11:50 AM today, and requested he make public the information requested. Officer Neighbors refused the request. I then asked “by what process do you withhold this information?” Officer Neighbors responded, “I won’t get into that with you.

I then asked Officer Neighbors if he knew that Blacks were much more likely to rape a White, than vice-versa?” Before I could finish this sentence Officer Neighbors placed the phone down on the receiver. Conversation terminated.

After this call I received an email from Officer Neighbors, the full text of which is below, along with my responses.

A Line in the Sand: A film by Bryon Jost

October Sun Films | Trailer Here | DVD $20

What separates Line in the Sand from other documentaries is the subject matter, a film not about African elephants or nasty snakes, rather it is about people whose lives have been ruined by the Mexican invasion, people who are fighting while others sleep, people run off their own land by fear and intimidation, and a government guilty of malfeasance if not outright betrayal of its own people.

A successful documentary film includes passionate people entangled in compelling circumstances, and it’s especially helpful if the protagonists are underdogs. The Line in the Sand is such a story, and it tells itself. Like so many stories Hollywood and New York refuse to cover, the tales told are of little people struggling against cold and distant powers, and crimes greater than any fiction writer could scheme.

A hero of mine, Kevin MacDonald, appears and offers context and a history of immigration policy since 1924. For many MacDonald’s A Culture of Critique is too challenging of a book to conquer, a Line in the Sand offers an easy introduction to MacDonald’s ideas.

People talk about economics or whatever, but no one simply says Europeans[Americans] aren’t benefiting from this as a group, that we are giving up control of our country to other peoples. When you are a minority group you better hope the other groups are nice to you. Well, we ought to be concerned of our future as a minority group, for then we will be at the whim of other groups that may well have hostile intentions towards us. But now we can’t even raise the possibility that Europeans have ethnic interests, but everyone else does have ethnic interests.

Kevin MacDonald, from Line in the Sand

This is film you can share with your family, friends, and co-workers. Don’t they need a dose of the real world for a change?  My copy is out on loan.

The Weekend Interview Show with Scott Horton

In the United States, at least, one cannot hear lengthy and complex subjects discussed on most media broadcasts. The controlled media, or so called MSM, favors salacious or ominous tales of child molestations at daycare facilities, celebrity scandals, ball games, and anything that portrays White males as criminals*: programming that appeals to the lowest and broadest audiences.

Scott Horton’s show is not like that, serious problems with knowledgeable folks are presented. Though I am critical of the show, including its Libertarian assumptions, it is most valuable. It is my conviction the new internet media - of which Scott Horton is part - must be supported.

For this reason I am asking the readers to consider the request Scott is making.

Message to liberals: get real on IQ

“For personal reasons I would like to believe that men and women are equal, and broadly that’s true.  But over a period of time the evidence in favour of biological factors has become stronger and stronger.  I have been dragged in a direction that I don’t particularly like, but it would be sensible if the debate was based on what we pretty much know to be the case.”  -  Dr Paul Irwing, in The Times, giving liberals the shocking news in a cuddly, empathic way.

Dr Irwing and Professor Lynn (whose earlier, liberal-offending exploits are touched upon at the end of the article) are only saying what anybody capable of surfing internet politics can easily discover:-

Men are more intelligent than women by about five IQ points on average, making them better suited for “tasks of high complexity”, according to the authors of a paper due to be published in the British Journal of Psychology.

Genetic differences in intelligence between the sexes helped to explain why many more men than women won Nobel Prizes or became chess grandmasters, the study by Paul Irwing and Professor Richard Lynn concluded.

They showed that men outnumbered women in increasing numbers as intelligence levels rise. There were twice as many with IQ scores of 125, a level typical for people with first-class degrees.

When scores rose to 155, a level associated with genius, there were 5.5 men for every woman.

Alright, not new information for us.  But it is interesting that the MSM is now prepared to touch the IQ story at last - one thinks of the Guardian’s recent admission that, yes, genes have a role in general intelligence.  It doesn’t matter whether these are coincidental swallows.  Enough of them will usher in summer, and all scientists for whom the left has proved a censorious foe should think on that.

Human difference, lest one forgets, simply does not lend itself as a foundation for marxian politics.  We are a very long way yet from seeing the hopeless expectations of Affirmative Action recipients or the egalitarian obsessions of the establishment or the selfish interests of state employees challenged.  But that is the goal.  The public acknowledgement - however gradual and haphazard - of a truth that has been (at times, viciously) suppressed for three decades is a necessary start.  We need much, much more of it.

Beck’s List of Internet Media

My wife and I did not know in May 2003 that mass media in the United States - meaning book publishers, newspapers, radio broadcasting, film studios, and of course television - is predominantly owned by an ethnic group comprising just 2% of the population; yes, we were annoyed that television catered more to Blacks and Hispanics than ever before, and we understood that such populations are, generally, cognitively deficient, but this was not the primary reason we stopped watching television, listening to radio, and attending the theatre; no, the primary reason is most media is garbage.

Fortunately, at this time independent thinkers - shut out of the mass media - began recording and distributing their content via internet. Though, not all of it I agree with, yet the perspectives are often fresh and the ideas challenging, unlike the media’s pablum.

Here is my list of internet media sites I regularly visit:

Sunshine and showers on the Coast

The philosophers of the Enlightenment wanted us all to be part of the same broad humanity - but the brutal truth is that we are all a bit tribal.
Simon Schama, a latter-day Macaulay quoted in yesterday’s Guardian as saying something necessary and true - and, given his background, rather refreshing.

Schama, along with fellow-historian and liberal Tristram Hunt, was endeavouring to explain to TV producer and Guardian invitee Stephen Moss the unexpectedly high viewer figures for BBC2’s series, Coast.  Of these Moss writes:-

One recent episode of Coast, on BBC2, attracted 5 million viewers, the highest rating factual programme on the channel this year.  And it’s not only programmes about the British seaside that are currently winning audiences: series featuring Britain’s landscape (Alan Titchmarsh’s British Isles: a Natural History), history (Tony Robinson’s Time Team and their Big Dig), and our native wildlife (Bill Oddie’s Springwatch) have been some of television’s biggest recent hits.
