Feminists sometimes argue that by allowing women into the military you get more recruits.

I’ve always been sceptical of this idea. If you have a unisex military, then young men won’t think it a special task of manhood to defend their country.

Furthermore, I expect most young men will not relish the idea of putting themselves under the absolute command of the more mannish kind of women.

As for recruiting women, this is likely to go well in peacetime when it’s only a question of handing out benefits. But what if there’s a war going on when there’s a real chance of getting hurt? Is the average young woman really likely to sign up in these conditions?

Then there’s the problem of multiculturalism. People certainly have an instinct to defend the existence of their own ethnic nation. But will they sacrifice their lives in the same way for the cause of “cultural diversity”? I doubt it.

So, Phil, I do think it’s possible that there might have to be a recourse to conscription, even for a relatively small-scale theatre of war like Iraq.

Yes that is a fine analysis.

I think the ethnic factor is very significant. I mean aside from the fact that the war looks less justified now, who would be willing to die for the country? Certainly a lower percentage than a few decades ago.

With a racial, religious, cultural hodge podge and multiculturalism run amok, less and less people will willing to fight when there is a real threat.

Those “smart Asians” that John Ray never stops admiring, for example. How many of those are in the Army? What percentage?

In the end, I believe ideas do have consequences. The idea that you can have a “nation” which does not otherwise have anything in common by way of bonds of ancestry or blood seems to me to be falsified every passing day.

Are our “conservatives” learning?

Galloway’s accent is actually not that strong. If you ever went to Glasgow….........you might have difficulty understanding some of the folks there.

The US Army should raise a special combat division from among the young neocon war preachers of the Beltway. Think tanks, congressmen’s offices, little magazines, blogs and the like should be ruthlessly scoured and those of suitable opinions impressed for front line duties in Baghdad.

We could call it the Fighting Chickenhawks, or ZOG’s Legion. Liberal rabbis and humanist funeral officiators would accompany each mission, and the boys would be specially trained to conduct the ops they so welcome in print: bombing wedding parties, ‘interrogating’ terrorist suspects using the most up to date IDF methods, house-to-house street cleaning in Fallujah, and so forth.

The example of undividedly loyal, fearless patriotic service furnished by these killer keyboarders would surely inspire thousands more middle class whites to flock to the recruiting offices.

I don’t know about that, Frankly if you life is in the hands of some Leftoids descression,It would make better progress to attack the source of the paradox,and in many instances within USA, it is your very own Government. Defence technology was at it hight in the cold war era, and now the cold war is within it’s own borders, Multiculturalism’s Nascent stress point,and political leftoid’s, Not a good combination for a coherrent defence Force. USSR is within,and a whole combination of Nancy boys, is not worth defending.Let alone Arabs on the other side of the planet.What the USA’s Alies want to know, how can we help put the country back on track 51 % normal, 49% insane leftoid subscribeers, there is hope, always hope.

I saw him on Charlie Rose, and I thought he sounded strikingly Americanized actually.

In terms of his accent of course - American politicians weasel more and are more afraid of being caught saying something than G was; his words weren’t Americanized.  G handled Rose too, though Rose didn’t fold or anything.
