Didn’t we say “no”?

Spring seems to exercise a quite remarkable effect on European politicos and bureaucrats. Perhaps it’s a rare form of hay fever, perhaps some kind of atonement for our disgraceful victory at Trafalgar, but every time round about now we get the latest example of EU brazenness and the British government’s craven cowardice.

Two years ago, Britain allowed the EU to usurp a whole host of political powers from its elected government and to transfer them to the Brussels cronyocracy. A year ago, Tony Blair pledged his unwavering allegiance to a Constitution that had been rejected even by the habitually fanatically Europhile French.

And so it has come to pass this year. The Eurocrats, evidently aware that it’s the time of year when Prince Tony cannot say “no” to Princess Mandy, have decided to introduce a single European Home Office.

BRUSSELS was accused of attempting to create a “Euro-Home Office” after it demanded new powers to harmonise law and order issues across the European Union.
In a move that would open a new chapter in the integration of Europe, the European Commission said that it wanted to speed up the creation of a single “judicial area” by scrapping the national vetoes on law and order issues and transferring decision-making powers to Brussels.

It said that the current system — where any national government can block EU-wide polices and where Brussels institutions have virtually no influence — was too slow and cumbersome. The detailed proposals, supported in principle by the Government, would also cover the training of judges, give police the right to pursue criminals across international borders, and routinely give information about criminals to foreign police forces.

Such an Office is precisely what was on offer in the now defunct Euro Constitution- a document which was voted down by both the French and the Dutch and opposed to an even greater extent by the people of many other nations. Which part of “no” don’t they understand? Or was the question, do you want to accept this voluntarily or do you want us to ram it through against your will?

Never mind all that democracy stuff, replied Jose Manual Barroso, Euro Commission President,

I hope we will honour the victims [of 7/7], and look frankly at what can be done at the European level to give more coherence to the fight against terrorism and organised crime

Well, one way to fight terrorism might be to actually guard our borders, something that clearly isn’t on offer here. As for fighting organised crime, dissolving the entire Euro Commission might be a good start.

This new Euro Home Office will likely mean something else for the English, apart from a further infringement on our national sovereignty: the end of our ancient liberties. The EU code will likely be based on France’s Napoleonic Code, which lacks habeas corpus, the right to trial by jury, the principle of double jeopardy, as well as a number of other time-honoured English legal protections.

Still, cheer up, chaps. Remember, that bright Cameron fella has promised to remove the Tories from the EPP. That’ll scare the wits out ‘em!

That simply means, “We are taking unto ourselves the power we deem necessary to destroy the nation state.”

As for the victims of 7/7, the sole appropriate response is to reclaim the living space in Europe - all of it - which these vile transnationalists have transferred to complete aliens.

It’s just hit me how disgusting and irrelevant the Pres’s mention of the 7/7 victims is. It’s just exploitation of the dead -those dead precisely as a result of his actions (amongst others).

Yes, a disgrace.
