Diversity comes to Ireland

Loyalists blamed as racist attacks on migrants double in Ulster

But it’s not just Loyalists involved. The report also refers to fights between Lithuanians and Timorese - people the average Ulsterman has never heard of. Only a few years ago Aussies and Americans were considered exotic in Northern Ireland - even in Belfast never mind small towns - but things are changing rapidly as this BNP report from a few months ago noted.

The Republic of Ireland has also been experiencing diversity in recent years.

Obviously Eastern Europeans are preferable to most other immigrants, but given Ireland’s population of only 6 million (north and south) even a minor influx of foreigners could radically change Irish society. Besides hasn’t Ireland had enough trouble digesting the diversity it already has between relatively similar Catholics and Protestants?

Matra, what if any noises about the alien influx does the DUP make?

2

Posted by Matra on May 31, 2006, 03:55 PM | #

I’ve never heard the DUP talking about immigration.  The foreign influx has been so sudden I don’t think any of the political parties were prepared for it. Given the DUP’s other views - opposition to the EU, reverance for traditional Britain, and in the past, sympathy, if not outright support for Apartheid South Africa’s government - it would seem unlikely they’d ever become pro-immigration and multiculturalism. Ian Paisley also has close ties to the controversial Bob Jones University in South Carolina, which opposes interracial dating. But for the most part the DUP, like most Ulstermen, are very parochial and don’t think much about the world beyond their own neighbourhood or town. Until about two years ago there were no immigrants or non-whites in most towns were most DUP voters live so I doubt if many in the party had ever even thought about immigration as an issue - though without a doubt the majority of their voters would be opposed to Ulster becoming multicultural.

I once read that younger members of the Ulster Unionist Party (loosely linked to the Tories) were calling for their party to become more open to multiculturalism. This is the same stupid modernising wing of the party that put so much faith in Sinn Fein and Tony Blair’s good will that Paisley’s DUP is now, by far, the biggest unionist/Protestant party.

Another example of diversity in Northern Ireland :

Goat slaughter alarms neighbours

The slaughter of a goat inside a house in County Tyrone is being investigated by police.
Dungannon SDLP councillor Vincent Currie said local people contacted the police after they spotted blood seeping from underneath the door.

He said the house at Mark Street was occupied by African immigrants.

Mr Currie said police found “a goat’s head and entrails discarded in the backyard,” and when they went inside, “a goat carcass was in a cooking pot”.

He said pools of blood were on the kitchen floor.

“There was a large live billy goat in the utility room, clearly awaiting the same fate,” he added.

The Ulster Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is now looking after the goat.

A spokesman for the charity said it was not the first such incident in Northern Ireland.

Police said those involved would be spoken to as it “could be a health and safety issue”.

“Our wee province” is changing now that the Troubles seem to be over and prosperity has arrived. British and American chain stores homogenising High Street, fancy cocktail bars replacing the traditional pub, Lithuanians and East Timorese fighting in the streets, and now billy goats in the utility room waiting to be slaughtered. I hardly recognise the place.

The BNP has established connections in working class Belfast. They said in late 2003 they were going to run candidates in the 2005 Northern Ireland council elections but I guess they are concentrating their limited resources on England for now.

and diversity is Ireland’s strength too :

Irish could be minority ethnic group here by 2050
http://www.gaelport.com/index.php?page=clippings&id=55&viewby=date

Ireland’s native population could be in a minority by the middle of this century, the president of Dublin City University (DCU) will claim today. But large-scale immigration is still essential if we are to remain prosperous, Prof Ferdinand von Prondzynski will say.[tell that to the japanese]

Unpublished UK-based research, which he does not identify, has indicated that by 2050, Ireland’s population will consist of a multicultural and multiethnic mix in which the indigenous Irish will form a minority.

He says this is based on some demographic projections which also suggest that people of Chinese origin may form the largest of the new ethnic groups.

“Whether this turns out to be an accurate prediction or not, we have to prepare for a very different kind of society,” he says.

“It needs to be a planned process to ensure our skills needs are being met . . . a very substantial increase in population will be needed over a long period of time.[yes, until Ireland is filled to the brim and the government decides to impose a China style one child law. The Chinese are going to feel at home]

“And I don’t think people have quite realised this yet.”

In a speech to be delivered at a conferring ceremony in DCU later today, Prof von Prondzynski will also argue that any attempt to stop migration here will lead to a significant decline in the Irish economy, and a return to Ireland’s peripheral status in Europe. [If any attempt to stop immigration is bad for the country then encouraging it must be the best thing it can do so let’s open the borders and invite the whole world to come live in Ireland.]

This is because a major population expansion is needed for the next wave of economic growth.

Universities have a particular obligation to prepare the country for the increasingly multicultural nature of Irish society, he believes.[we must convince our youth that its demise is a good thing]

Inter-cultural studies and research should be prioritised, while care needs to be taken to ensure the “new Irish” gain equal access to higher education.[government discrimination against the natives]

Universities should also be “active contributors” to anti-racism policies, and should offer support to industry and to Government agencies in this regard.[irish universities should stifle any opposition to the destruction of Ireland]

However, Prof von Prondzynski will stress that they should maintain an interest in, and support for, Irish traditional culture as part of this development.[please please, be Irish will you ? Oh come on we’re so nice, we let you settle in our lands, please please…]

“Ireland as a multicultural society will be able to make a particularly valuable contribution to the new Europe, and will be able to continue to lead as a country in which high-value innovation takes place and strong community values are espoused.”[strong community values in a “multicultural and multiethnic mix” ?]

Although the immigration issue is a difficult one for the Government, recently introduced measures - such as increased restrictions on citizenship - are frequently counterproductive, the professor said yesterday.

“People are nervous about immigration. But immigration is almost always a good thing. People think immigrants come here and take jobs, but the opposite is true. They will come and create jobs.” [Remember folks Ireland doesn’t exist it’s just a geographical location where individual human units work and pay taxes]

in other words Ireland needs to be drowned in a multicultural brown stew and we will throw accusations of racism at those who oppose our plans.

that fool should stick to photography and stop giving advices on how to run countries

“Remember folks Ireland doesn’t exist it’s just a geographical location where individual human units work and pay taxes”

Youve nailed something there, perfectly, thats the way we encouraged to view immigration, especially from the right liberal & libertarian perspective.

Fred,

There is a bio of von Prondzynski on

this page.

He is most certainly a tranzi ...

Professor von Prondzynski was born in Germany, but moved to Ireland in 1961 and attended Headfort School in Kells, Co Meath. He told Oliver Callan, a presenter on DCU-FM, the University’s student-run radio station: ‘I travel with an Irish passport. I think probably these days it’s easy to think of yourself as international and I guess I’ve got a couple of links to a number of countries in different ways. But if you pinned me down, I’d have to say that I’m Irish’.

... if you need pinning down, you have to be a tranzi.

“I’d have to say that I’m Irish”.

No you are not Irish, Mr Prondzynski, otherwise you would be called “O’Connor”, or “O’Hearn”, or “O’Riley”. That’s how you would know if you were Irish, Mr Prondzynski. You are actually German, from probably near the Polish border. You are not Irish and you never will be. What you are, however, is a revolting fellow who has betrayed the hospitality of his kind hosts by calling for them to be overthrown and replaced by Chinese. What kind of a person does this?

Excellent points, GW and Steve.  No one is Irish who says, “But if you pinned me down I’d have to say that I’m Irish.”  Is he kidding???  No one is any nationality who says, “But if you pinned me down I’d have to say I’m [X, Y, or Z].”  Sorry, Professor, nationality doesn’t work that way.  Your nationality is something you know perfectly you possess and you speak of forthrightly.  As a crass dollar-worshipper this man has no nationality, no country, is what it amounts to.  But all that’s not the most obnoxious thing.  I found the most obnoxious thing about this insect to be his totalitarianism, as revealed where he said that to go along with the planned forcible race-replacement of the Irish race and nation with other peoples mainly Chinamen, there was a need for simlutaneous involvement by universities in the form of active planning of “anti-racism” policies to be used by both government and private industry against any Irishmen who might question what the Tranzis have in store for their nation and race:

“Universities should also be ‘active contributors’ to anti-racism policies, and should offer support to industry and to Government agencies in this regard.”

In other words, “Yes we’re going to force this on Ireland from behind the scenes, without so much as a binding referendum offered to the people of the nation, and what’s more don’t anyone try to speak up against it because we’ve got the extreme radical left-wing of the universities working out ways to tar anyone opening his mouth as a racist.  So just learn to love it because you’ve not a snowball in hell’s chance of doing anything about it, all you racists out there.  Now excuse me, I have to make my reservations for the hotels in Gstaad and the Riviera where I’ll be spending the upcoming vacation with my family and servants, paid for of course by all the dollars industry is saving by replacing higher-wage white workingmen and white professionals with non-whites from all over the world.  Toodle-pip!”

He would have to be the most obnoxious man alive. Imagine that! This alien ingrate blows into Ireland, lands a top position with one of their universities, and then proceeds to lecture the Irish on the need to rip their country apart and hand over the remains to foreigners; oh yes, and to basically imprison anyone who makes a good fist of speaking up against it all (and don’t think for a second that his “anti-racist” campaigns will not culminate in the official harassment of the opposition, as per the BNP). He is not simply a misguided fool - he is the devil incarnate, and perhaps the most evil man alive anywhere in the world.

Once again Northern Ireland has been named ‘race hate capital of Europe’. I believe this is the second time in three years Ulster has earned this title despite improved competition from our continental friends.

Where Ulster is behind though is in its failure to have a McPherson Report of its own. A new report ’ The Next Stephen Lawrence? - Racist Violence and Criminal Justice in Northern Ireland’ launched with the support of Lawrence’s mother calls for a ‘McPherson-style review’ due tackle NI’s ‘institutional racism’.

No doubt the
Grauniad enjoyed reporting :

Protestants were found to be more likely to be racist and xenophobic than Catholics, according to the 2005 Northern Ireland Life and Times survey.

Loyalist paramilitaries are believed to be behind a significant proportion of racist incidents. Nicem says that the British National party (BNP) is very active in the province and some loyalist paramilitaries have an interest in the BNP.

As you’ll see from the two above links most attacks have been against Eastern Europeans. It’s interesting that anti-racist groups are happy to take up the cause of other whites. Maybe there just aren’t enough non-whites in NI yet for them to get a decent anti-racist movement off the ground so for now they have to make do with Poles and Lithuanians.

Ireland now has an all black school. (Nothing to do with the Rugby World Cup)

The article is from the start of this month but the school just opened this week.

Columnist Kevin Myers, who made himslef very unpopular for his support of Ulster Protestants in the last two decades now takes on immigration:

Immigration is now not merely the dominant feature of Irish life, it is the greatest threat to the existence of the Irish nation as a coherent, and cohesive whole.

No country has ever accepted, never mind assimilated, the volumes of foreigners now present in this state. We have some 400,000 legal immigrants; but everyone knows that the army of illegals, especially Africans and Chinese, is vast, and probably tops 200,000. In all, Ireland has received at least 600,000 immigrants, most of them within the past five years. It could be many more. No one has the least idea.

In the US, such immigration would translate into an inward population movement of 45 million. In the UK, the figure would be nine million. Needless to say, neither state would be so idiotic or feckless as allow such vast numbers to enter.

Only Ireland would be so idiotic and so morally lethargic as to allow such massive inward population movements.

Actually I’m not so sure only Ireland is so idiotic. He goes on:

on any discussion on RTE, especially from its newsroom, immigrants are never held responsible for choosing to come here. Instead, we hear endless complaints that Irish institutions had not prepared themselves properly for their arrival.

On the News at One on Monday, African after African in Balbriggan complained there were no places for their children in the existing local schools.

Not once was the question posed: what was the real reason for the Africans not having places in schools? Answer: they’d only just come here.

Instead, Africans who were just off the boat were allowed to accuse us of racism for not having school places awaiting their children.

...If blaming ourselves for our failure to plan for Africa’s educational needs were not fatuous enough, some poor spokeswoman from the Catholic archdiocese of Dublin had to defend the Catholic Church against an RTE journalist’s accusations of bigotry.

Naturally, in this unprincipled liberal Ireland, for the Catholic Church to insist that Catholic schools have a primary duty to educate Catholics is nowadays both racist and sectarian.

But of course, no one on RTE would ever dream of proposing that Islamic madrasahs should take in Jewish, Catholic or Hindu pupils: in the new Ireland, the only people who are expected to bend their own rules are the Irish Catholic majority.

Accompanying this presumption is the pious and all-prevalent dogma that immigrants will on arrival abandon ancient loyalties, and will promptly don a Hibernian mantle: hence the brainless cliche, wittered endlessly by journalists and politicians alike, “the New Irish”.

Sorry. This is conceited gibberish. Why would a Pole surrender something which the Polish people have fought for a thousand years to retain?

Why the presumption that an Asian Muslim who lives in Ireland is in any way Irish?

My mother lived most of her life in England, but never for a second thought of herself as English.

The media should be asking the big question, ‘Why are we still admitting hundreds of thousands of immigrants?’

Instead, we are obsessing with the relatively trivial question of: Are the Irish people, who after all have admitted vast armies of strangers to their national home, racist?

This is self-hatred at its most pathetic…

Professor Prondzynski probably doesn’t like Kevin Myers.

Maybe there just aren’t enough non-whites in NI yet for them to get a decent anti-racist movement off the ground so for now they have to make do with Poles and Lithuanians.

Or maybe the Poles and Lithuanians are Catholics, and a continued invasion of eastern European Catholics will push the Protestants in NI into a minority position. Will religion once again prove the more powerful force for the survival of EGI or will the atheist American multi-culti WN sentiment prevail?

Posted by Al Ross on September 27, 2007, 03:51 PM | #

Thank you for this, Matra. Kevin Myers, whose work I am familiar with through his Spectator articles, made himself quite unpopular among RCs for saying that it was possible to discern the religious denomination of any NI household by merely observing the standard of domestic tidiness and cleanliness.

Good grief. Even most Protestants wouldn’t go that far. I’m going to take a half-hearted stab at it and guess it has something to do with larger families leading to different priorities. If Myers had visited my old pad he would’ve thought I kicked with the other foot.

Myers was encouraged to resign from The Irish Times a couple of years ago for a remark he made in response to ‘news’ that the children of single parents didn’t fare as well as those from traditional families:

“And how many girls, and we’re talking largely about teenagers here, conciously embark upon a career of mothering bastards because it seems a good way of getting money and accomodation from the State? Ah. You don’t like the term bastard? No, I didn’t think you would. In the welfare-land of Euphemisia, what is the correct term for the offspring of unmarried mothers?

“And how do MoB’s cope when their male bastards (in the literal sense) become metaphorical bastards in adolescence? How does a woman assert her will over a sour, aggressive, uncommunicative boy? Well she usually doesn’t”
