I opposed the invasion of Iraq but I wouldn’t trust anything John Pilger says about it or any other subject. Truth is not exactly his priority.

He is an extreme anti-white journalist. He presented a documentary on ITV about 5 or 6 years ago saying whites have too much power in the New South Africa and that not enough had changed there. I got the impression that his main problem is that there were still whites alive there.

He’s also been attacking his native Australia for decades (particularly in the run up to the 2000 Olympics) claiming it’s irredeemably racist. To him there doesn’t seem to be such a thing as a good white Australian.

For Pilger there is only an injustice if whites can be blamed. Even the Bali bombing was the fault of the US, UK, and Australia.

The late great Auberon Waugh turned the word “pilger” into a verb - it appeared in the Oxford dictionary.

Thanks for the background on Pilger, Matra.

Though, I’ve read similiar criticisms of the War On Terror in other magazines, like American Conservative, I’ve never seen such a devastating critique of the WOT.

I watched Michael Moore’s propaganda show, and wasn’t impressed, it was too shallow and paper thin.

Did you see the segments with the Neocons, frankly I thought Pilger destroyed Kristol.

I believe you when you say Pilger (Pilguh) is a anti-while lib, but why can’t we get reporters in America that challenge the gov’t?

No, Auberon was Evelyn’s son, not his brother. Evelyn died in 1966, Auberon in 2001. The Beeb’s obituary of the latter is here:

As I’m allergic to Pilger I didn’t watch it, but I’m not surprised Kristol didn’t come off well. Even on US television I’ve seen Kristol struggle a few times under not so tough questioning. Anyway, those arguing that invading Iraq was vital to US national security generally do look ridiculous no matter who is interviewing them.

Pilger is indeed a radical Marxist who hates all white people, one of Australia’s most dubious exports.

Indeed, Pilger is kind of convenient for the powers that be, because, like Noam Chomsky and Mike Moore, he only ever mentions one half of the overall picture. You will never hear him criticise the disastrous mass immigration policies and the handing over of our sovereignty to the UN even though these are carried out by same “imperialists” that Pilger so decries. Clearly, the elites can’t be that bad if John Pilger agrees with half of what they do!

Sailer summed it up perfectly - Invade the World/Invite the World. It’s just that Pilger only wants to Invite the World.

I gotta say, watching that video, Kristol looked like an idiot.

But then, we mustn’t forget that Kristol and Pilger are still basically offering the same main course, only with slightly different seasoning.

Well, I was sure taken to the cleaners on this Pilger guy. Still, 99.9% of Americans are clueless about Pilger.

But watching the content of the show, itself, I was amazed. An ‘Old Right’ conservative could have been substituted for ‘Pilger’, IMO.

I’m not sure how much others - even Canadians - realize how tamed, or controlled, the press is in America?

He did indeed destroy Kristol. But that’s not very hard. It’s not like Kristol has any real talent. Pilger’s a total whackjob, but I don’t doubt he’s intelligent.

Geoff, ever read the eXile’s stuff on the press?  They’ve pilloried American and Russian and no doubt European journalism more than once.

Leftists can often make very useful critiques of the establishment.  Israel Shamir springs to mind, something I read recently about the Israel-Palestine conflict.
