The Head Fake

The phrase ‘head fake’ refers to a deceptive ploy by a basketball player where he suddenly moves his head in the direction opposite to where he plans to advance. Like a head fake when news damaging to the regime surfaces - as if by magic - a juicy and emotion packed ‘news’ item saturates the airwaves.

The ‘Downing Street Memo’ affair is now percolating into the US media. The memo reveals the Bush Administration (R) sought war with Iraq and ‘fixed’ information to meet its objectives. But what has the attack dogs on the Left and Right in a tizzy? Senator Dick Durbin (D) made references to Nazi concentration camps while denouncing Gitmo and the misdeeds of camp interrogators.

As planned, the red meat is being devoured: here (R) , here (R) , and of course the ADL (D) has their part to play.

Folks, the so called ‘Left & Right divide’ is a hoax. They are all statists, comfortable with the status-quo; the screaming and outrage has no real significance, other than to hypnotize. Nothing gets them so juiced up as a reference to Hitler or the Nazis. grin

Indeed.  Given that some at this blog seem to get equally juiced up by Hitler and the Nazis, and invoke “fascism” in an attempt to delegitimize opposing views, the ‘statist’ description may be applied to them as well?  Interesting that these same folks are so obsessed as well by definitions of “left” vs “right”, which Geoff so rightly describes as a hoax.

Are those obsessed with such unreal divisions attempting to hide their own statism behind a screen of conservatism?

There seems to me to be nothing more conservative than to wish to conserve one’s ethnie, nothing more libertarian than the right of some to decentralize away from the multiracial empire and form ethnostates, if they so choose.

And, I never understood J.J. Ray’s comment about fascism in response to your preference for limited gov’t on the Greek & Roman model.

Limited government is more a Germanic than a classical concept.
