If patriotism is only constitutional

While white gentile Americans who spy against America are almost always motivated by ideology and/or money, representatives of other groups (eg, the still slipperyJohnathan Pollard) are usually motivated by ethnic interests. Is this another example?

…intelligence analyst with top secret clearance who worked at a New Jersey Army base was charged Monday with passing classified information about Filipino leaders to current and former officials of that nation … The analyst, Leandro Aragoncillo, sent some of the material to Michael Ray Aquino, a former deputy director of the Philippines National Police who lives in New York City, according to an FBI complaint unsealed with the arrests … Aragoncillo, 46, of Woodbury, was hired to work at Fort Monmouth in July 2004 and began sending classified information and documents in January, according to the complaint … From May to Aug. 15, Aragoncillo printed or downloaded 101 classified documents relating to the Philippines, of which 37 were classified “secret,” the complaint said. Details of the documents’ contents were not disclosed in court papers or in court … Aragoncillo, a Marine for 21 years, and Aquino were ordered held without bail following an appearance before a federal magistrate.

I may add that “Aragoncillo” is a Filipino surname, a piece of information somewhat bolstered by this:-

… And by page four of this PDF, which has a picture of a US Marine named, you guessed it, “Leandro Aragoncillo”. Now, obviously, the pictured individual, despite being a Marine with the same name as the alleged spy, may not be the same person as the accused. After all, it is always possible that there is more than one member of the Marines with that name. However, it is at least highly probably that someone with that sort of name would be Filipino, likely with a phenotype similar to that observed in the photograph.

So….what do we have? An Asian “cognitive elitist” (after all, he’s an intelligence analyst) has been accused of spying for a nation from which (almost certainly) he derives his ancestry.

Now, we live in a nation in which people are innocent until proven guilty (or at least, convicted, which is not the same thing). It is therefore possible that Mr. Aragoncillo is an upstanding American citizen innocent of all charges.

However, cases such as these make one wonder. Just how loyal are Asiatics – even long-term US Marines – to the USA? Do their loyalties lie with American “Constitutional Patriotism” or with their co-ethnics and their ancestral homeland?

Consider the South Asians responsible for the atrocities of 7/7 in England. Where were their loyalties? Can “Americans” of East Asian and South Asian descent really identify with America and its history? What will happen if the USA goes to war with China? Remember Derbyshire’s warnings about Sino-Fascism? What if the US and India were to develop a hostile relationship? Could Indian-Americans be trusted, regardless of whether they are “native born Americans?”

These are all tough questions that need to be asked. I do not claim to have all the answers, but I do believe that we had better be asking the questions.

The U.S. is “world property,” so this Filipino probably sees no (less, really) conflict of interest.
