As a fairly average listener, for me the harmonious and pleasant melodies/voices/sounds/rhytms form the basis of good music, and all else is extra. Here are some examples of melodic music. These kinds of ingredients are used to acquire large audiences, whatever the particular popularity of the particular pieces of music. They give the companies, producers and musicians influence and money. If there are ethnic nationalist musicians here, I recommend that they study carefully how popular music is done. Well Ive still got my 12” vinyl version of Song to the Siren. Perhaps slightly outside the mainstream of the Cocteau Twins other stuff given that it was billed as being by This Mortal Coil (but was really Liz and the others).
