Inside Bush and BlairHere for your perusal and enjoyment is the transcript of the now infamous chat that Blair had with Bush during the G8 summit:
“Trade thingy” is Blair’s ever-so-charming, Hugh-Grantish manner of referring to the WTO talks. Apparently, Bush’s diplomacy is derailing it, which is perhaps the most clear-sighted and wise act of his presidency.
How sweet. Are we paying you £200k a year to exchange sweaters (even very thoughtfully)?
Change of subject.
They’re talking about the situation in Lebanon. Blair is suggesting that the UN intervene, just as soon as they can drag themselves away from the sexual opportunities offered by starving, under-aged Congoes.
Oh, please, Bush, let me go to Lebanon and pretend to be the Prime Minister of an independent nation.
It seems that Blair has spent so long obstuficating the truth that he has lost the powers of ordinary human expression. The only vaguely sensical sentence in the above bilge is a remarkably revealing one: “I can go out and just talk”. Just as well really, all things considered, eh, Tone, old chum?
Given the quality of language evidenced in the first quote, that the latter two were inaudible was perhaps a relief!
...somebody invents the elixir of immortality, war will end forever, and we will all be able to spend the whole day eating chocolate aboard Aviatory Porcusi. Back in the real world…
I have no doubt whatsoever that the currently unmolestered Christian communities of Syria do indeed consider Pres. Bashir Assad an absolute sweety, especially compared to the American regime in liberated Afghanistan.
A simple question occures at this point. Do these men sound like the most powerful statesman in the world and his most important ally discussing the most pressing political dilemmas of the day? Or do they sound more like a pair of college frat-boys discussing their fellow slackers?

Posted by onetwothree on July 18, 2006, 06:29 PM | # Bush: Yeah, yeah, he is sweet. Blair: He is honey. I believe it is “Coffee Anon” who is as sweet, sweet as tupelo honey: http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2006330165,00.html Love Blair’s necktie, by the way. 3
Posted by Alex Zeka on July 19, 2006, 04:47 AM | # onetwothree, the indie wasn’t sure to whom they were referring and radio two seemed to think it was pres. Assad. Looking back at the conversation, Kofi does seem to make more sense (unless Assad lies awake at night fantasising about world peace). 4
Posted by Amalek on July 20, 2006, 08:40 AM | # Bush has often been arraigned for pandering to Hispanics, but by greeting a British PM with ‘Yo’ and using the s-word as a synonym for ‘stuff’, he seems to want to be KwAmerica’s second black president, following Slick Willie. 5
Posted by Guessedworker on July 20, 2006, 08:59 AM | # Isn’t the lesson from this that we are not, in fact, at all surprised to see these “leaders” leading in such a manner? I, for one, would have been utterly amazed to see two great statesmen emerge from their secrecy, all arrayed with the perspicacity of a latterday Shlomo and the Duke of Lauenburg. But this is the 21st century, and surface is what you get with Blair and Co. 6
Posted by Alex Zeka on July 20, 2006, 05:19 PM | # GW, pardon my naive, barely adult soul, but I was actually expecting something a touch more elevated. Not in terms of ideas, perhaps, but atleast in terms of the way they were expressed. I was certainly not expecting any profanities. It isn’t just that our leaders have no substance: without their armies of spin doctors, even their presentation is s**t. 7
Posted by Alex Zeka on July 22, 2006, 03:45 AM | # Zach, my thoughts exactly upon first hearing it. It just sounds like what a late night satirist might think Bush would sound like. Infact, the more I look at it, the more I suspect that it’s some sort of a hoax. Next entry: Funny how that works… Previous entry: Immigration critics making headway in State houses |
