Nu-history, Nu bill of rights and a letter to Billy Bragg

I was not entirely surprised to see that Mr Cool of the equality game, the diversity gang-banger Trevor Phillips, has been making those smooth, smooth moves again.  He is reported in the Telegraph telling us that we must rewrite the history of Britain to reflect the roles of other cultures.

Parts of British history need to be rewritten to emphasise the roles played by other races and religions like Muslims, a prominent race relations campaigner has said.

Trevor Philips, the chairman of the new Commission for Equalities and Human Rights, said the history of Britain did not properly reflect the contribution of other cultures.

Rewriting the country’s history would demonstrate to Britons in the 21st century how other groups part from Anglo Saxons shaped the nation.

He told a fringe meeting at the Labour conference: “We may need to revisit our national story – we want to rewrite that story to tell the whole story.”

The rewriting should start with the story of how the English fleet led by Sir Francis Drake fought off the Spanish Armada in 1588, he said.

The important role played by the Muslim Turks, who delayed the sailing of the Spanish fleet so that the English ships were better prepared, had been airbrushed out of the story however.

Mr Phillips said: “When we talk about the Armada, it was the Turks who saved us because they held up the Armada after a request from Elizabeth I.

“Let’s rewrite that, so we have an ideal that brings us together so that it can bind us together in stormy times ahead in the next century.”

Mr Phillips, the former chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality, declined to offer any other examples of parts of British history that should be rewritten.

So it wuz the wogs wot done it.  Well I never!

One wonders what grade The Big E scored in his final history exam back in easy-going, poverty-stricken Guyana (average IQ 84 according to Lynn).  Not very high then, I suppose.  But he then went on to say something interesting, and that I hadn’t heard before, about fellow crazed self-publicist and diversity-nut, the faux-protest singer Billy Bragg:-

He also said that he supported a campaign by the musician Billy Bragg for a new written constitution to define what it means to be British in the 21st century.

“We have to have an expression that is native and right for us,” he said.

“We have to have a more explicit set of understandings under which we can all live together.”

Now, this “new written constitution” turns out to be Bragg’s latest campaign for diversity ... and, of course, for Billy Bragg.  You can learn all about it here.

More in hope than expectation of a reply, a certain John Standing - splendid fellow, upright citizen, the Dr Watson of “the far right”, and just as fictional - has written to the strangely-nosed one of Dorset (not, in fact, about Bragg’s nose nor, indeed, Dorset, although Standing has always suspected that the afflicted are driven to to the left, from where they can safely project their rage.  Dorset is free of all suspicion in that regard, btw - despite the Tolpuddle Martyrs who, as far as he knows, all had perfectly normal noses).

Dear Mr Bragg,

I hope this e-mail address for you is still active.

I am a very minor blogger, Dorset-born, actually, but raised in the London of the 1950s and 60s, and living in Sussex now. I am interested in the preservation of European Man in all his own homelands, but most interested, of course, in the preservation of my own English people. My political lodestar is the primacy of ethnic genetic interest, not the political abstractification of liberty. I happen to be rather well aware that living organisms which cease the struggle to preserve themselves will always be outcompeted and replaced. This is Nature’s law, and it has not been abolished by postmodern liberalism. It applies to all genetically distinct peoples, and these do include our own. It is inescapable, and beside it your perfectly unexamined leftist “diversity-speak” is a Just-So story of the most self-serving and vapid kind.

Now, that said, I have some questions for you with regard to your putative Declaration of Rights. I would appreciate an answer, as direct as possible, to each. Here they are:-

1. Do the English have ethnic rights and interests like any other people in the world?

2. Do we have the same right of self-defence against aggression on our living space as any other people?

3. Are we under some special moral obligation to immerse ourselves - meaning our immediate posterity, in fact - in the bottomless seas of the Third World?

4. Or can we, for example, assert the moral right of the English to England? If not, why not?

Good luck with answering those. Diversity-speak, by the way, will not do.
