Yet the former, which is required for real revolutionary leadership, is much more rare than the raw material available to fulfill the latter.  I’ve had conversations with “gangstas” who are allegedly “hardcore” (un sheet) about firearms and their use in combat.  By their own admission, they possess no real expertise in their use (spray and hope for the best really is about it) nor any real courage to fight on to victory at whatever cost to themselves.  That is because they are fight with their “brothas” (and because they are “brothas”) and not for their brothers.  But if we want our brothers to fight with us first we must get them to believe, and that takes leadership and some intellect.

If you do not like Soren’s contribution don’t read it.  Why throw the baby out with the bathwater (remove bookmark)?  Most of Soren’s stuff leaves me befuddled but I can choose to read and glean what I can or follow the comments and gather something there or move on to others.

Soren’t poetic style has points in common with that of Gerard Manley Hopkins.  In a thread over at Prozium’s,
http://www.occidentaldissent.com/2009/05/02/fading-away/ , someone has posted three poems by Hopkins:  “God’s Grandeur,” “The Windhover,” and ”No worst, there is none. Pitched past pitch of grief.”  Anyone reading those Hopkins pieces who has also read Soren’s writing will see what I mean.

I’ve read this poem several times, but I still don’t have a satisfactory interpretation for the last third of it; who is johanna? and is “sloot” Schrodinger’s cat?

Soren’s stuff also has points in common with Vachel Lindsay’s.

I don’t know about that, Fred. Both are kinda nutty, but Lindsay wrote pretty close to real poetry; where Soren’s “work” is the stuff of any collegiate lit mag: pointless jumblings of words—very modern. CvH pulls it off sometimes, and I am not one to praise that fool.

I think Soren’s just trying too hard to impress himself.

By the way, I posted the Hopkins at OD. I don’t believe Hopkins and Soren share anything beyond the most superficial toying with words; this is because Soren isn’t really a poet. Gorboduc’s a poet. I bet GW could squeeze out a few if asked. What Soren writes is pomo drivel. If even three lines of the above “poem” were reproduced under a different name, in some pussy collegiate lit mag, most of the few who praise him for this crap wouldn’t think twice about ignoring it as senseless poetic pulp.
