I saw something in the press in the last week or so about owl song. I didn’t pay much attention but have a vague idea that a science chappie has figured out that owls use their voices to attract pray. If that is a half-decent recall, it would suggest that your riddle concerns the pursuit of sustenance rather than procreation - an useemly proccupation with a six-pack and a king-size BigMac, leading irrevocably to an early grave sans heir. 6
