Two once conservative, now respectable, writers

I’ll never lament the passing of white rule in Zimbabwe (writes ex-editor of the Daily Telegraph, Max Hastings)

Yes, we did. Like most of my colleagues, I reported from Rhodesia 30 years ago in an almost permanent state of rage. We saw a smug, ruthless white minority, beer guts contained with difficulty inside blazers with RAF crests, proclaiming themselves the guardians of civilisation in the heart of Africa. They killed carelessly, tortured freely, and exploited censorship to conceal their worst excesses. The city dwellers, patrons of Meikles Hotel bar, were the worst, because they were the most hypocritical. Fervent supporters of “good old Smithy”, many took care not to expose their necks, preferring to “kill Kruger with [their] mouths”, as Kipling had put it 70 years earlier.

Evidently, denying blacks political rights, while having “beer guts contained with difficulty inside blazers with RAF crests”, is as bad as perpetrating a systematic genocide via land confiscation, on a parallel with the work done by Stalin’s men in the 1920s. And that’s not even mentioning the harm this is doing to the black population, who are suffering a famine in a nation that once exported food.

I know I’ll never lament Hastings’ eventual passing from the world of journalism.

Sting of racism, South, boo-hoo. I’ll cry for his experience of “racism” when his ilk cry for the murdered Boers of South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Look at the jump around the fall of apartheid, remembering that the rate in the 80s was already inflated by terroristic protest attacks. This cataclysm unleashed a flood of violence against non-blacks, without diminishing the peril for blacks themselves. Only racial vengeance can make blacks celebrate this catastrophe, only utter masochism can make whites support it.

Good post Alex. The phrase “Il never lament the passing of White rule in Zimbabwe” is just an intellectually respectable variation of the standard “I’m not a racist but…”, this phrase is usually a prelude to a comprehensive summary of negative experiences with immigrants. It seems to me that people are being gulled into getting their argument in reverse. We should begin by listing the offensive habits and consequences of multiculturalism and conclude by saying, “and because I object to this I am called a racist!”.

I haven’t read the original article but I’m assuming that it is either an apologia for the utter barbarism that the international liberal community has allowed Zimbabwe to descend into because of its dogmatic devotion to false and unscientific beliefs about race, or is a prelude to a lukewarm condemnation of Africa’s latest mass murdering incompetent. If the later is the case it proves that any condemnation of African leaders coming from the established media, will be stifled by the ideological prior requirement to stuff ones head up the nearest available black arse before daring to speak.

Hastings’ purpose here isn’t to assure his readers that he isn’t pro-white rule, before arguing against the current expropriation of white Boers. It’s to glory in what’s happening to the Boers:

Many of us always acknowledged that majority rule would be fraught with problems. Yet nothing can make those who saw white minority rule in its naked ugliness lament its passing. I cannot bring myself to feel profound pity for Peter Godwin’s white Zimbabweans, decent people though some of them are. Their exclusion was ordained a generation ago, by their own leaders’ folly and savagery. Compassion is overwhelmingly due to black Zimbabwe, which neither white guns nor white butter can save from the monsters who are the legacy of the Europeans’ brief sojourn in Africa.

Yes, their murder was ordained by the actions of their fathers’ leaders. Imagine somebody writing the same about blacks or Jews. Let’s just say that Hastings wouldn’t dare do it.

The Selous Scouts were dealing with utter savages who got exactly what they deserved, if you can’t lap it up don’t dish it out More Africans suffer and die under Black rule than ever died under White rule. Colonisation is the best thing that ever happened to Africans, why do you think that they are flooding out of Africa to subjugate themselves voluntarily to white rule even as we speak?
