False allegations of rape are now common

And feminist laws convict the innocent

Despite its many painful and unseemly aspects, the Kobe Bryant rape case and the media storm surrounding it have drawn attention to a severely neglected problem: false rape accusations.

In her recent “Daily Journal” column, high profile feminist professor Wendy Murphy dismisses the problem of false accusations as an “ugly myth,” and calls for “boiling rage” activism to address what she perceives as the anti-woman bias of the criminal justice system. Like many victims’ advocates, Murphy cannot seem to fathom the possibility that Bryant could be innocent. However, research shows that false allegations of rape are frighteningly common.

According to a nine-year study conducted by former Purdue sociologist Eugene J. Kanin, in over 40 percent of the cases reviewed, the complainants eventually admitted that no rape had occurred (“Archives of Sexual Behavior,” Vol. 23, No. 1, 1994). Kanin also studied rape allegations in two large Midwestern universities and found that 50 percent of the allegations were recanted by the accuser.

Kanin found that most of the false accusers were motivated by a need for an alibi or a desire for revenge. Kanin was once well known and lauded by the feminist movement for his groundbreaking research on male sexual aggression. His studies on false rape accusations, however, received very little attention.

According to a 1996 Department of Justice Report, of the roughly 10,000 sexual assault cases analyzed with DNA evidence over the previous seven years, 2,000 excluded the primary suspect, and another 2,000 were inconclusive. The report notes that these figures mirror an informal National Institute of Justice survey of private laboratories, and suggests that there exists “some strong, underlying systemic problems that generate erroneous accusations and convictions.”

That false allegations are a major problem has been confirmed by several prominent prosecutors, including Linda Fairstein, who heads the New York County District Attorney’s Sex Crimes Unit. Fairstein, the author of “Sexual Violence: Our War Against Rape,” says, “there are about 4,000 reports of rape each year in Manhattan. Of these, about half simply did not happen.”...

The media has largely ignored these studies and experts and has instead promoted the notion that only 2% of rape allegations are false. This figure was made famous by feminist Susan Brownmiller in her 1975 book “Against Our Will: Men, Women and Rape.” Brownmiller was relaying the alleged comments of a New York judge concerning the rate of false rape accusations in a New York City police precinct in 1974…..  Brownmiller’s credibility can be assessed by her assertion in “Against Our Will” that rape is “nothing more or less than a conscious process of intimidation by which all men keep all women in a state of fear.”

Murphy also contends that the criminal justice system is stacked against women, and that the law reform initiatives promoted during the past three decades have “failed to make a bit of difference in the justice system’s handling of rape cases.” In reality, feminist advocacy and the now ubiquitous rape-shield laws have made an enormous difference in the way the system treats rape cases.

Some of these changes have been fair, and have led to greater protections for rape victims. However, others have made it more difficult for men to defend themselves, with at times horrifying consequences for the accused.

For example, in December, the Arkansas Supreme Court denied an appeal by Ralph Taylor, who is serving a 13-year sentence for rape. The court held that evidence of the victim’s alleged prior false allegations of rape was inadmissible because it was considered sexual conduct within the meaning of the state’s rape shield statute. In that case, the defense proffered the testimony of two friends of the alleged victim, both of whom claimed that she had previously falsely accused another man of raping her. The court added that admitting such evidence could “inflame the jury.”

In her book “Ceasefire: Why Women and Men Must Join Forces to Achieve True Equality, Boston Globe” columnist Cathy Young details numerous questionable rulings in which potentially innocent men were prevented from properly defending themselves by the rape shield laws which Murphy endorses.

One of these cases concerns an 18 year-old Wisconsin boy named Charles Steadman, who in 1993 was sentenced to eight years in prison for allegedly raping an older woman. Steadman was prohibited from revealing that his accuser was currently facing criminal charges of having sex with minors, and thus had an excellent reason to claim that the sex with Steadman was not consensual. Such evidence was deemed related to his accuser’s sexual history and thus inadmissible…

Murphy is correct that rape is a horrible crime. But false accusations of rape are every bit as horrible. They are a form of psychological rape that can emotionally, socially, and economically destroy a person even if there is no conviction, especially for those of less fame and fortune than Bryant. The stigma attaches to the falsely accused for life. Few believe them and few care. Prosecutors systematically refuse to prosecute the perpetrators. And victims’ advocates like Murphy refuse to see falsely accused men as victims, and instead work to minimize and conceal the problem.

“Kanin found that most of the false accusers were motivated by a need for an alibi or a desire for revenge.”

“ ‘there are about 4,000 reports of rape each year in Manhattan. Of these, about half simply did not happen.’ ”

”[...] there exists ‘some strong, underlying systemic problems that generate erroneous accusations and convictions.’ “

Yeah that “underlying systemic” thing is known as femaleness, female hard-wiring, and female hormones, all doing exactly what can be predicted when young women find themselves in certain situations.  Most young women are not in the business of—do not feel they were created and put on earth for—satisfying men’s sexual desires and getting nothing in return.  What they’re really after is not the sex but three things:  love, marriage (i.e., commitment), and babies, and these three things are held highest in importance by most young women, higher than anything whatsoever which young men might be able to imagine.  Most of them naturally assume, until educated otherwise about men by life—which can take many years beyond age eighteen—that the ground rules in men’s minds are the same as in theirs, i.e., the real though unspoken goals of everyone involved are love, commitment, and babies and if the man doesn’t call her the next day, or if she learns he joked about it with his friends, or if in some other way he shows his disrespect for what she assumes he knows to be the ground rules—and therefore shows his profound disrespect for her—he’s the worst kind of personal enemy of hers and the worst kind of moral criminal against women in general who has just placed himself beyond all protection of law, justice, mercy and deserves every conceivable kind of vengeance exacted on him.  What’s going on in her mind is, if he thinks he’s going to make her out to be a slut when she didn’t consent to be with him from sluttish motives but from the hightest ones imaginable, she’s going show him who the winner is going to be.  Behind many of these false rape accusations is “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned,” pure and simple:  if a young woman doesn’t get the sentimental attentions she feels she has coming to her in the immediate aftermath of having bestowed her sexual favors, she cares about nothing except getting revenge on the one she sees as having scorned her; cares nothing for rightness, justice, fairness, law, harming the innocent, the functioning of society, or other such notions which may come naturally to most men.  Young women, who already in general care relatively little for any of that in the abstract, care strictly nothing for any of it when they perceive themselves as having been scorned, but will exact what horrific revenge they can, the more horrific the better.

Of course there are many young women whose minds don’t work that way.  They don’t make false rape accusations.  There’s a third category of outright nutcases—female sociopaths and so on, including women who do this habitually.  This nutcase category includes, I suspect, the accusers of William Kennedy Smith some years ago in Florida, and Kobe Bryant.

“Brownmiller’s credibility can be assessed by her assertion in ‘Against Our Will’ that rape is ‘nothing more or less than a conscious process of intimidation by which all men keep all women in a state of fear.’ “

The woman who can make such a statement suffers from a psychosis at worst, a severe personality disorder at best.

“But false accusations of rape are every bit as horrible. [...] And victims’ advocates like Murphy refuse to see falsely accused men as victims, and instead work to minimize and conceal the problem.”

That’s very simply because many “victims’ advocates like Murphy” are lesbians insanely jealous of men for potentially rivaling them for the young women they themselves covet.

Had the Kobe Bryant case gone to trial and I sat on the jury, based on what’s known about the case at present I’d absolutely have voted to acquit.

I KNOW that false allegations of anything from rape or sexual harassment are common. Both are made by vindictive women who are helped along by an unfair and completely biased justice system that has been cracked by the whip of radical feminism. The destruction of males is what they are after. Unless men stand up to them, they will succeed. Look at anything from domestic violence laws to the gender profiling of suspects and victims. Men are considered to be the bad guys. Also, men’s lives seem to be valued a lot less than women’s. Some call that “progress”.
I can think of other names for it, lol.

A Men’s Movement is desperately needed in the western world.

I am aware of a few growing organizations that can greatly help men’s rights if they are helped my the men of this nation.

There are many great women and men who are sympathetic to men’s plight in this world filled with anti-male bias.  The problem is that they dont get the help they need in this very important mission.

There are many concerns for men.

1) Shelters and Advocacy for Male Victims of Domestic Violence.

2) The End of Gender Profiling in the Justice System of the United States of America which wrongfully portrays all males as bad and all women as their innocent victims. This is not true. Females can be every bit as violent and criminally inclined as males, sometimes more so.

3) Equal Rights for the American Fathers. Most fathers are loving and supportive of their sons and daughters.
Often, the mothers prevent them from seeing their kids or demand so much money in child support that the father becomes bankrupt and his life is ruined.
That’s not fair at all. Many changes are needed in Divorce Court and Family Law.

MRAs or Men’s Rights Activists could use all the help they can get. People should be aware of that and help them.
It’s for the good of mankind that they fight, darn it.

I completely agree with that. My brother once dated a psycho girlie and she would try to hurt him. He’d defend himself and everyone would assume he was the guilty party. That’s not right, dammit ! Good work you blokes are doing, getting the word out !

I find that there is in fact sexual harassment and sexual based crimes in America that exist today, probably more frequent than most would like to believe. Yet, after witnessing first-hand a female who would falsely accuse former lovers of abuse/rape, I can’t help but feel outrage.  Not for the assumed victims of the accusation, but for those who are actual survivors (male and female alike).

To hear that the aforementioned study discovered that false accusations of rape are considered COMMON these days is catastrophic for any person coming forth truthfully.

In addition, call me idealist, however, in a court of law the facts seem to be also “blurred” by good lawyering…innocent or not.

I don’t have a remedy to this situation, but it seems that there are alot of differences between this current 20 something generation and generations past.  None of which I find appealing…the world is changing and while Equality is the desired outcome, there are darker latent effects to accompany those changes.

Is it a psychological condition, or a social one?  Especially since therapy is almost a “Right of Passage” in come circles.
