Alisdair ClarkeOn his New Right Forum this evening Troy Southgate announced the death from pneumonia of Alisdair Clarke, 46, blogger, traditionalist, paganist, emerging NR intellectual and, just occasionally, a commenter on MR threads. His final post at Ayran Futurism, dated January 10th, contained these words:-
As a practising homosexual, Alisdair was proof, if proof were needed, that homosexuals have ethnic genetic interests. Disavowing the posturing contrarianism of gay politics, Alisdair demonstrated that homosexuals are not bound to be careless of the rights and the traditions of the majority. He could write of the European New Right’s wish for “strong family life, fecundity, and marriage or relations within one’s own ethnic group”. The “or” in that sentence might have resonated rather loudly with him, of course. Certainly, he sought a martial place at the table for homosexuality in the “Aryan Future”, for which he was spectacularly defenestrated by the long-emerged and leading intellectual of the ENR, Jonathan Bowden, writing in Troy’s New Imperium magazine:-
Well, I suppose that when a man like Bowden takes such offence at something you’ve scribbled, you know you have arrived. Alisdair Clarke has, however, now departed, and the Aryan Future has lost an interesting and far-sighted proponent. We will have to make do without his musings on “Greek philosophy and particle accelerators” too, and “Valkyries and Brassy Barmaids”. We don’t know whether, like the Oxford philosopher Freddie Ayer, Alisdair bravely contemplated “obliteration” at life’s end. To be honest, I’m not sure what modern paganists really anticipate. I imagine this one, though, would be content to have his work remembered with some respect, and his life toasted with a long, cool beaker of honeyed wine.
Through the hall then went the Helmings’ Lady,

Sorry we never met in person. We would have liked one another. Posted by Matra on February 29, 2008, 05:59 AM | # I’m pretty sure I referred to this guy and left a link one time at MR. I remember Soren thanking me for the link but I can’t recall the subject. Given his sexuality I doubt he really died of pneumonia. Nevertheless he saw and seemd to care about what so many men, heterosexual or otherwise, can’t see: The end of our people. Met Alisdair a few years back via Baelder, he struck me as an extraordinaly well reflected person, deeply into the work of the, lets say, like minded persons, and this hurts like fuck! Was going for a surprise visit soon. Bloody hell. Well, have a swift journey a cross the rainbow bridge my friend!
Posted by Alex Zeka on March 01, 2008, 10:06 AM | # I don’t think anyone has denied that homosexuals have ethnic interests. They do however quite obviously fail to serve these. Irrespective of all that, AC passage you quoted above, GW, is a perfect example of why Clarke was not an asset to any movement he was a part of. It tries to link “limitless space exploration” (something Joe Average is indifferent to and probably thinks is a bit kooky) with WN. It then argues for “Aryan” preservation on the basis that only “Aryans” have what it takes to build rocket ships - once again, something Joe Average is likely to regard as of only marginal use. Finally, there’s the use of scarecrow word “Aryan”, which adds nothing over using “white” or “European” except to automatically make the reader think of Nazism and all that that entails. All in all, that passage is WN at its absolute worst, least presentable, and least persuasive. That this is something we should be trying to move away from shouldn’t be forgotten whilst we mourn the man’s death. Posted by Guessedworker on March 01, 2008, 11:36 AM | # I agree with that, Alex - which is why I regulated the post with Bowden’s bucket of ice-cold water. However, Alisdair Clarke, like anybody else, sought to find his personal meaning in life, but unlike most people, and certainly most homosexuals, he looked for it in service to those tribes he called “Aryan”. Remember that he had not the possibility of fatherhood ... of the normal participation in Nature’s purpose. Accordingly, he proposed a purposive role for homosexuals in a martial defence of the tribe. There is a certain striving towards health in this, though Bowden will have none of it. Probably, the right constituency for Alisdair’s ideas was other homosexuals who must struggle with the same questions, the same devils as Alisdair. Perhaps he should have addressed himself less to the world at large, and needed less from it. But we cannot deny him the right to a voice, nor fail to mark his passing. Posted by Fr. John on March 01, 2008, 03:48 PM | # Alisdair was proof, if proof were needed, that homosexuals have ethnic genetic interests. On the contrary, death at 46 from pneumonia (an AIDs-related morbidity scenario) clearly does not argue ‘for’ ANY ‘ ethnic genetic interests at all. Unless he was only drawn to Aryan men in uniform- a sort of ‘Pink Swastika’ mentality. Homosexuality is the outcome of a civilization that is dying. When a culture and a populace is healthy, such aberrations are squelched at the outset. Mosaic injunctions for stoning come to mind. This man does NOTHING for the cause, other than besmirch it. Posted by Guessedworker on March 04, 2008, 07:16 AM | # Yes, that’s true. Constantin and Alisdair both belong/belonged to the emotional tradition of Germanic romantic nationalism. All European New Righters, being nationalists, are fixed on the palingenesist <> volkist axle, and the modern palingenesism is expressed in reference not only to the glories of the Germanic pagan past but to the Wellsian vision of a future among the stars. Today’s heroic rebirth is archeo-futuristic. Posted by melba peachtoast on March 04, 2008, 03:17 PM | # GW! You always surprise me! Archaeo-futurism indeed, dear boy. They won’t call me leathery again, count on it. If I ever return to Cronulla it shall be in a less revealing swimming-garment. Posted by BB Wolfe on March 05, 2008, 07:07 PM | # Homosexuality is the outcome of a civilization that is dying? No, I don’t think so, although a neurotic obsession with it is certainly a sign of decay. A healthy culture would cease to encourage homosexuality and cease to inappropriately reward it - neither would it seek to pathologise or otherwise undermine the strong heterosexual feelings o the majority. These are very sad news indeed. I wanted to visit Alisdair in London last year. But he called me the day before, saying that he was in the hospital because he had contracted pneumonia. He was afterwards released and seemed fine the last couple of months. I planned to visit him next month. Now I shall never have a chance to meet him in person. Alisdair was one of the most original thinkers of the New Right. He will be sorely missed. I shall drink a bottle of whiskey (a beverage he cherished) in his honor tonight. HAIL Alisdair! Constantin Alisdair Clarke’s writings can be found here: http://aryanfuturism.blogspot.com/ “The New Right weltanschauung is unassailable; it is the adamantine synthesis of the most brilliant minds in European history, from Heraclitus to Martin Heidegger and beyond, and the race-mind which created foundational Aryan mythology. It is the intellectual equivalent of Fortress Europe. The Spirit of Europe will never be crushed; neither by force of arms, nor by decades of toxic propaganda, nor by a treacherous plutocratic elite groveling to yet another Abrahamic religion.” -- Alisdair Clarke Posted by Peter on April 03, 2008, 06:06 AM | # Fr. John you “Christian hypocrites” make me laugh. Stoning? who are you Mohammad? You are an aberration!
