Majorityrights recognises the concerns about personal information of the audience and is aware that in the present environment, personal information must be carefully and appropriately handled in order to safeguard the individual. Majorityrights regards it as an important responsibility to treat the personal information of the audience carefully and appropriately.

The proliferation of surveillance techniques deployed by state and non-state actors in an environment where a huge volume of information can be instantly transmitted justifies the need for careful management of information. To ensure the appropriate handling of personal information, Majorityrights has defined its basic policies as mentioned below, declaring that it will be committed to the protection of personal information.

1. Purpose of Utilisation of User Information

When a user accesses the site, Majorityrights collects personal information on the user as well as information on the user's access record (personal and non-personal information hereafter referred to as "User Information"). Such User Information collected by Majorityrights will be utilised only to the extent necessary for the following purposes:

a. Materials to make more user-friendly web pages;
b. Analysis and/or improvement of the site;
c. Responding to enquiries for information about the site;
d. Optional session cookies in order to have users utilise the site more conveniently when they revisit.

Majorityrights will take measures for appropriately handling personal information and conduct proper safety and management steps for preventing an infringement on privacy and any other personal right arising from theft, falsification, leakage of personal information, or any other incident.

2. Handling of User Information

The site can be accessed without disclosing the name and other information on the person. However, Majorityrights collects User Information without identifying individual persons in order to understand the users' pattern of behaviour on the site, improve the site, or develop new services, for the purpose of the analysis and/or improvement of the services provided by the site, and the development of the Majorityrights site.

Please note that the collected User Information is not for identification of personal information but for understanding how the users access the site.

Majorityrights will fully take into consideration the possibility that an individual person might be identified by analysing such non-personal information, such as IP addresses and cookies, that are not capable of identifying individual persons unless it is compared with other information.

a. There are two types of information that Majorityrights may collect:

i. Information to be collected for providing services: The type/version of the browser, device information, text entered in search or enquiry, etc., email address noticed for enquiry, etc., and other information.

ii. Cases where the entry of personal information is used: Personal information is used when it is necessary to communicate with users, and for facilitating registration for e-mail newsletters, making posts or comments, responding to email enquiries, etc.

Majorityrights does not and will not ever supply any User Information to any third party measurement servers. Regarding links or embeds to content which is outside the Majorityrights.com site (eg, Youtube, Dailymotion, Twitter, etc), it is the user's responsbility to safeguard their privacy in that case.

b. Utilisation of access records, etc:

In order to make the site more convenient, when users revisit the website, session cookies are used. Cookies are tiny data sent to users' web browser when they access our site. They are used to remember the information entered into forms such as the comments section user information form. The 'remember me' setting is entirely optional. These cookies contain no information that can be used to identify users.

3. Statistical Information

Majorityrights creates statistical information which cannot indentify individual persons out of User Information in order to understand the users' patterns of behaviour. This may be used so that the Majorityrights contributors can better understand its audience. Under no circumstances are these statistics ever disclosed publicly.

4. Retention Policy

When Majorityrights collects User Information, it restricts the acquisition of information to the minimum necessary for the purposes described in Paragraph 1 "Purpose of Utilisation of User Information". Access logs containing information such as type/version of the browser, device information, etc, are archived in calendar-month long packages, which are deleted every two months so that only two calendar months of access logs are retained at any given time.

5. Enquiry from Users

Majorityrights will respect users' wishes and make full consideration for users who do not want their information collected. If there comes an enquiry about the types or handling of the information collected from users, Majorityrights will appropriately respond.

Enquiries and complaints about the handling of personal information on the site, and requests by the users for the deletion of their personal information are appropriately and promptly noted and responded to.
