Astronaut Farmer If you look at this week’s Majority Report you’ll notice prominent in the stories is one: There’s a reason for that, despite the fact that it includes the positive portrayal of rural US land holder employing a Mexican: It is the first time Hollywood has portrayed NASA’s manned space program as, not only an ersatz substitute for the American Pioneer Spirit, but a pioneer-funded (via taxes on the Americans which the US Founders called “our posterity”) enemy of the American Pioneer Spirit. “The Civil Rights Movement” had legs, the vigorous support of Hollywood and the vigorous support of academia, while the American Pioneer Spirit’s frontier was relegated to a dysfunctional bureaucracy continually complaining that not enough funding was available to deliver the promise. This vicious betrayal of the American Pioneer Spirit is central to our time—since it was during the 1960s that the liberalizations we now decry were enacted at the same time it appeared there was a new frontier opening up. The bottom line is Kennedy’s “New Frontier” was a con game to grab the land of the “posterity” of the founders of the US, on behalf of other interests—thereby rendering the government utterly without legal foundation. There is a book to be written here but a movie that touches on the theme of the failed promise of JFK’s “New Frontier” is a major accomplishment, even if it is flawed in other ways and even if it comes 35 years too late. All of the above removed from “our posterity” “the blessings of liberty”. 6
Posted by what on Sat, 03 Mar 2007 04:01 | # is that it? sheesh, I knew about all that, I thought you were going to mention how Jews sabotaged the space shuttle program or caused the Columbia disaster or something. Civil rights are bad and all, but I thought you were referring to a more direct Jewish subterfuge of the great American pioneer venture into space. WERE the Jews out to get the space program, either by beaureaucratic strangulation or outright murderous sabotage? D: 7
Posted by Al Ross on Sat, 03 Mar 2007 04:50 | # what. The Jews, of course. So, the Chosen did, indeed, sabotage the Space Programme. 8
Posted by a Finn on Sat, 03 Mar 2007 05:28 | # To the “Who”: Why the blaming of the Whites is considered to be normal critique and why the normal critique towards the jews is considered to be blaming? Outside the U.S. Nasa’s space program was/is usually regarded as an excellent achievement of European Americans, detached from Kennedy’s and others’ liberal programs. Inside the U.S. the picture the of space program is more detailed and connected to the everyday life of the Americans. 9
Posted by James Bowery on Sat, 03 Mar 2007 05:52 | # “what”/“who” or “whatever”, of course that’s not all. It is merely sufficient. If you want to get into the failure of NASA to fulfill its promise of a “New Frontier” to the American Pioneer who was being served up on a silver platter via the “Civil Rights” movement: Imagine a world in which the energy Jews put into promoting “Civil Rights” via media and academia not to mention political organizations like the ADL, ACLU and SPLC, had been directed to attacking, instead, the hypocrisy of fighting a cold war against communism with a government-owned, controlled and operated transportation system. 11

Posted by Frank McGuckin on Sun, 04 Mar 2007 01:31 | # James Man space exploration is a waste of money. Where I disagree with you is your view that goverment funded science programs have and always are been a disaster. This is empirically false. The general pattern is this:high tech massively funded by the tax payers. When a large market comes into being. These tax payer funded technologies are than handed over to parasites such as Bill Gates. This technology would never have gotten off the ground with out massive tax payey subsidies. Where would high tech be in Amrica without DARPA and the Nation Bureau of Standards. I have no problem with free market principles being violated. The reason why embryonic stem cell research in the US falling behind the rest of the world is because of the lack of federal subsidies into embryonic stem cell research. This state of affairs has pissed of a lot of corporate CEO’s. Corprations won’t make the necessary investments into fundametal embryonic stem cell research. The CEOs expect the tax payers to fund it until it becomes a viable technology at which time they expect the govermet to turn the technology over to private tyrannies(corporations) The research costs for the technologies that have made the US a technological giant have been very often if not always socialized. The profits of course are completely privatized. My own view is that parasites such as Bill Gates sould not be allowed to accumualte such a vast amount wealth from technologies whose R&D was subsidized for decades by ordinary Americans. If Bill Gates doesn’t like this state of affairs, we can always give him a one ticket to Chad. 20

This was actually the start of a series of proposals that finally led to the funding of the X-Prize and its award to Burt Rutan. 21

Well, of course. That’s precisely why the culmination of my legislative activism was a net asset tax white paper:

Posted by Frank McGuckin on Sun, 04 Mar 2007 02:05 | # Ok James I probably did. Here is something else. About these privatized adventures into outer space. Some of the characters who are part of this movement such as Benson just come across as utterly predatory creatures for whom the conquest of space is just another way to extend the size of their penises. I along with Harlan Ellison find this all very appalling. I’d rather stay home and be hit with a massive meteor than be these free market space pioneer’s slave on one of their work colonies in space. I don’t trust these characters. 23
Posted by James Bowery on Sun, 04 Mar 2007 02:24 | # The key to freedom is self sufficiency. This is usually more achievable on the frontier due to the necessities of isolation. This is why I put forth the idea that the next stage of human evolution may be the heliocentric individual. 24

I wasn’t thinking of you at all… I was just pointing out that I as well as you, didn’t think that government funded “space exploration” had done anything. If you want to fight about whether or not the landings were faked, start a new thread. Easy there tiger…. we’re on the same team… 25

Posted by anon on Sat, 10 Mar 2007 03:31 | # James, if you liked the Astronaut Farmer, then you will absolutely LOVE 300 by Frank Miller. A lot of Jews must have been suckered into financing it because it has a Persian (Iranian) enemy, but it is secretly an argument against multi-culturalism. 29
Posted by James Bowery on Sat, 10 Mar 2007 08:30 | # I just saw it and that was my thought also. At the line where King Leonidas said to Xerxes’s invitation to enjoy the multiculturalism of the Persian Empire: “We’ve been sharing our culture with you today.” (referring to the Spartans slaughtering the slave army of the Persians) my wife’s operatic diaphragm filled the theater with the musical laughter of Valkyries. 30
Posted by Thought Police O'Malley on Tue, 12 Jun 2007 04:20 | # Kuro5hin trolls them and grows them. Best you be wearing a helmet because you are going to get bashed at Kuro5hin. Even the Ultra-Liberals use illegal immigrants as slave labor, though they refuse to admit it. Some of the Democratic Presidential Candidates employ illegals to work on their campaigns and make phone calls to raise money, clean their offices, count money, and do other tasks they themselves refuse to do. The current law is not broken, it is just not really enforced. Since it is a civil and not a criminal law, Police stations refuse to do anything about it until they commit a crime or something. For misdemeanors they don’t report the illegal, but for felonies sometimes they do report them. No bill need be passed, just make temporary L1 Visas for farms and the food industry to hire people from Mexico under a L1 Visa that allows them to be paid under minimum wage as long as they get food, shelter, clothing, etc paid for by the employer. That way the farmers get their cheap labor, the Mexican immigrants become legal and are no longer slaves, the people upset about illegals crossing the border won’t have anything to get upset over as they would be legals now, and the L1 Visa workers will get taxed and it will pay for public and social services so the people upset over economic conditions would be happy as well.
