Slaves to illusion

MORPHEUS: At last. Welcome, Neo. As you no doubt have guessed, I am Morpheus.

NEO: It’s an honor to meet you.

MORPHEUS: No. The honor is mine. Please come sit down. I imagine that right now you are feeling a bit like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole.

NEO: You could say that.

MORPHEUS: I can see it in your eyes. You have the look of a man who accepts what he sees, because he is expecting to wake up. Ironically, this is not far from the truth. Do you believe in fate, Neo?

NEO: No.

MORPHEUS: Why not?

NEO: Because I don’t like the idea that I’m not in control of my life.

MORPHEUS: I know exactly what you mean. Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know, you can’t explain, but you feel it.  You’ve felt it your entire life. That there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there, like a splinter in your mind driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I’m talking about?

NEO: The matrix ...

MORPHEUS: Do you want to know what it is? The matrix is everywhere; it is all around us, even now in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, when you go to church, when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.

NEO: What truth?

MORPHEUS: That you are a slave Neo, like everyone else, you were born into bondage, born into a prison that you cannot smell or taste or touch. A prison for your mind.

The movie premiered eleven years ago, and most of us will have seen it. Many remember our thoughts as we sat to the end and then walked out onto the street and had a minute to think. What made this movie so intriguing was the idea that the oppression imposed by the matrix … ‘The Powers That Be’ … was so enormous, so persuasive, so seamless, that for most people the oppression, the matrix of lies, had become as invisible and unnoticed as the air we breathe.

It was a reflection of our lives in a movie fun-house mirror. Strangely, it expressed many of our own instincts about our current predicament. That we are enslaved. That the vast majority of people don’t even know they are enslaved ... and worse, don’t seem to care.

We sense it … ‘the world that has been pulled over our eyes’ despite the claims about ‘Liberty, Democracy and Free Trade’. We have been born into bondage, the subjects of an experiment, laboratory rats in a cage.

Like the movie, we live a alternate reality constructed by God knows who, and implemented by our puppet government. And we are ruled by things that exist only in our minds.

Our countries, our economies, our history is in the hands of people who we do not really know, and we suspect that they are not us. The people we should know are everyday being replaced by strangers with strange customs and creeds. They are not us. They are against us.

MORPHEUS: Do you now understand what it means when we say, if you’re not one of us, you’re one of them?

The fundamental mark of fulfilment, of success in our society, the thing that gets the masses up every morning, is called ‘Consumer Confidence’… to pay our debts and so qualify for more credit. We live for this promise, of credit ... this alternate reality, a control program, a thing that exist only in our minds. Think you are the owner of that house? That car? A citizen in a free country? The parent of those children? You have protected rights? Think again. It is an illusion you enjoy, or not, at their pleasure.

MORPHEUS: At first all they wanted was to be treated as equals, entitled to the same human inalienable rights. Whatever they were given, it was
not enough.

And the things that exist only in our minds … how much of this is a distorted reflection of the essential ethos of our society - that the meaning and value of our lives has become a type of credit instrument, an artificial intelligence that incurs interest ... a host system infected with a virus that speaks and calms you with the words ‘the cheque is in the mail’, while it eats your future and erases your past.

Social Engineers tell us that perception is reality. That belief can replace objective truth and become an alternate reality. That society can be strengthened or collapsed simply by encouraging various beliefs regardless whether those beliefs are true or false. And given that lies and fabrications are infinitely more malleable than truth, and hold a wider array of promise for a more divergent and diverse array of people, we can accept it as only natural that those who control our society will base their government on lies. Unlike truth, lies can be whatever you want them to be. Lies are therefore perfect for a society of different peoples with little in common and with different ideas of what is natural truth. Lying becomes the central task of our government … the deciding factor and skill of the politician.

The idea of the movie ‘The Matrix’, was that an entire world could be a false reality. A lie that deceived everyone, that made everyone happy, that made everyone get along with one another, except those who suspected the truth. This idea is far from fictional.
We are immersed in a system of beliefs that are often, and perhaps always, lies. We are surrounded, supplanted and often replaced by foreign entities aided by legal fictions. This system has been constructed to “pull the world over our eyes” and “blind us to the truth that we were born in bondage, born into a prison that we can’t smell or taste or touch. A prison for our minds.”

But once you begin to sense the fictions, sense the matrix, you also begin to see the truth.

AGENT SMITH: Do you hear that, Mr Anderson?

(Agent Smith grabs Neo in a choke-hold, forcing him to look down the tracks, the train’s headlight burning a hole in the darkness.)

AGENT SMITH: That is the sound of inevitability.

(Neo sees it coming and he starts to fight.)

AGENT SMITH: It is the sound of your death.

(There is another METAL SCREECH, MUCH LOUDER, closer, as Agent Smith tightens his hold. Neo is unable to breathe.)

AGENT SMITH: Goodbye, Mr Anderson.

(The TRAIN ROARS at them, swallowing Agent Smith’s words. The veins bulge in Neo’s head, as he grits through the pain. He is not ready to die.)

NEO: My name is Neo.

AGENT SMITH: You can’t win.

NEO: I already have.

In the movie ‘The Matrix’, Neo is jacked out of the matrix and trained to realize himself - to become - the Messiah foretold by prophesy. The tension of the movie arises from the question of whether he is, or is not, THE ONE. Agent Smith is the antithesis that causes the spark to jump from Neo’s becoming, to being. From a slave to illusion to a master of the illusion by virtue of knowledge of the truth.

The movie therefore has a promising ending, the saviour has come that will defeat the forces of deception and restore the true world. The audience leaves exhilarated and satisfied. However, this movie by it’s own logic, is a product of the matrix. Not that it doesn’t contain truth. The Matrix by it’s own nature is a reflection, that can reflect whatever you want it to reflect, provided you have the code. The essence of this movie is the central and defining mythos of human history: the knowledge of the matrix.

However in the real matrix, the saviour who comes must and will be ourselves. It can be no other way. Each of us individually and collectively, together, are ‘THE ONE’. This is the hidden meaning of the myth. It has always been this way, this is who we are, and have always been. It is, as Agent Smith says, yet does not understand, ‘THE SOUND OF INEVITABILITY’. Despite the danger, turmoil and conflict we face in the future, we have begun to see the truth, we have already won.

(A phone begins to ring.  It is answered and the screen fills instantly with the trace program. After a long beat, we recognize Neo’s voice.)

NEO: Hi. It’s me. I know you’re out there. I know you’re working as fast as you can to catch me.

(We CLOSE IN ON the racing columns of numbers shimmering across the screen.)

NEO: I thought I should call and let you know how things stand.

(We DIVE THROUGH the numbers, surging UP THROUGH the darkness, sucked TOWARDS a tight constellation of stars.)

NEO: I know you’re real proud of this world you’ve built, the way it works, all the nice little rules and such, but I’ve got some bad news.

(We realize that the constellation is actually the holes in the mouthpiece of a phone. Seen from inside.)

NEO: I’ve decided to make a few changes.

Except the bad agents in Matrix looked Germanic, surely meant to mimic SS officers.  The good guys were a multicultural group trying to bring down the system - led by black guys and jews.  Let’s face it as far as we are concerned even the movie Matrix is part of the real Matrix we face.

MORPHEUS: That you are a slave Neo, like everyone else, you were born into bondage, born into a prison that you cannot smell or taste or touch. A prison for your mind.

JOSIAH STAMP: But, if you want to continue to be the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, then let bankers continue to create money and control credit.

EDWARD BERNAYS: The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.

Bernays wrote that in 1928. Mind bending has come a long way since then.

For me The Matrix movie is the uno-hooze telling us how it is, thus inuring us to how it is. It also allows the frightened who don’t want anyone but the uno-hooze telling them how it is to ridicule others who tell them how it is - “What’s that you say? It’s like a movie?”

It has a message for those who would ask awkward questions:

CYPHER: I know this steak doesn’t exist. I know that when I put it in my mouth, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious. After nine years [of surviving on gruel], you know what I realize? Ignorance is bliss.

It contains much truth, of that I am sure. But it has not and could never have done us any good. Clever liars reveal as much truth as they can.

A fine commentary which I agree with for the most part, but let’s not forget that this myth is from Hollywood

But let’s not drive in any deeper than it already is the idea that the lie is outside.  The lie is inside.  And so is the truth.  Our freedom from the former is our awakening to the latter.  The debate is, or ought to be, about that process.

It was only a short while after I began investigating, what can be loosely referred to as, the New World Order, World Government, agenda that the stark reality of ‘the Matrix’ began to become clear. For me issues such as mass immigration, multiculturism, political correctness etc have to be seen through the prism of this agenda. Only through defeating it will any salvation of the type sought after on this site be possible.

I’d go even further and say that the exposure of the agenda and the lies, hypocrisy, manipulation and brainwashing that go with it will do more to undermine the left, liberal consensus than anything else. They have no idea the extent to which they have been duped or to what ends.

In addition to the quotes above by Simon London I’ll add these below. They are by the Fabian Socialist and World Government enthusiast Bertrand Russell. I’m sure you don’t need reminding that the Labour government is dominated by Fabians. Truth be told so are the other major parties.

The quotes lay bare the thinking that’s prevalent amongst the elites of this country who are only too happy to enslave us. Can anyone doubt that Russell’s words have guided and influenced the controllers of our society right up to the present day?

“Science will be diligently studied, it will be rigidly confined to the governing class. The populace will not be allowed to know how its convictions were generated” in other-words the public will not be allowed to know how it’s beliefs and opinions were scientifically manipulated by the government to think a certain way. “Ordinary men and women will be expected to be docile, industrious, punctual, thoughtless, and contented. Of these qualities probably contentment will be considered the most important. In order to produce it, all the researches of psycho-analysis, behaviourism, and biochemistry will be brought into play.”

“...the best system in existence produced Karl Marx. In future such failures are not likely to occur where there is dictatorship. Diet, injections, and injunctions will combine, from a very early age, to produce the sort of character and the sort of beliefs that the authorities consider desirable, and any serious criticism of the powers that be will become psychologically impossible. Even if all are miserable, all will believe themselves happy, because the government will tell them that they are so.”

“This consideration brings us naturally to the subject of education, which is the second great method of public propaganda. Education has two very different purposes; on the one hand it aims at developing the individual and giving him knowledge which will be useful to him; on the other hand it aims at producing citizens who will be convenient for the State or the Church which is educating them. Up to a point these two purposes coincide in practice: it is convenient to the State that citizens should be able to read, and that they should possess some technical skill in virtue of which they are able to do productive work; it is convenient that they should possess sufficient moral character to abstain from unsuccessful crime, and sufficient intelligence to be able to direct their own lives. But when we pass beyond these elementary requirements, the interests of the individual may often conflict with those of the State or the Church. This is especially the case in regard to credulity. To those who control publicity, credulity is an advantage, while to the individual a power of critical judgment is likely to be beneficial; consequently the State does not aim at producing a scientific habit of mind, except in a small minority of experts, who are well paid, and therefore, as a rule, supporters of the status quo. Among those who are not well paid credulity is more advantageous to the State; consequently children in school are taught what they are told and are punished if they express disbelief. In this way a conditioned reflex is established, leading to a belief in anything said authoritatively by elderly persons of importance.” “On the whole, at present in education, the form of loyalty to the State which is most emphasized is hostility to its enemies.”

Guessedworker: But let’s not drive in any deeper than it already is the idea that the lie is outside.  The lie is inside.  And so is the truth.

Do you mean that truth is determined within?

The X Files TV series (never watched it of course) seems to me designed to capture certain sections of those beginning to sense that something is wrong, and control and dissipate their spirit of inquiry.

I feel sure that the catch line: “The truth is out there!” was carefully chosen to direct attention toward the outside, and away from the inside.

CFE,

Do you mean that truth is determined within?

It is known within, but this is a question of consciousness, not thought.

And don’t get me started on “Star Trek”…

Everything authored by Jews that touches on the existence of our people can be examined only for fingerprints.  That is always the first thing to do.  One print and we know we can never place full trust in the signal.

@GW: 100% with you on this.

But we don’y need films, TV etc to help us break through to the truth.

The whole media/entertainment industry is part of the facade of untruth, and that includes the makers of these films.

No-one, but no-one is EVER going to discover essential truths in the way laid out by the Matrix series - pills *), dimension shifts, dark glasses,. dark suits**)  computer-generated SFX and all the rest of the paraphernalia.

Therefore these films merely transpose the illusion into another key.

The “real” world as depicted in them is just as illusory as the “false” one.

The “liberation” portrayed in them is also illusory.

These films can only decant you from one prison to another.

I noticed years ago that come conspiracy theorist were peddling their favourite notions as if they were some sort of pornography - “You won’t believe thus!” “You will be utterly shocked!” “The full jaw-dropping story!”.

The Matrix movies don’t even serve a useful purpose as allegories of discovery.

They set up their own virtual reality studio of illusion, and may even, imho, inoculate people AGAINST the discovery of truth.

Those reviewers - largely Christian - who treated the films as expositions of a sort of gnostic “illumination” were on the right track: the “liberation” promised is deceptive.
The old gnostics claimed that when you’d correctly learned the hierarchy and the various names of the Aeons and the correct passwords to enable you to penetrate the different layers of a dualistic cosmos, and a bit of mystical maths you would win spiritual freedom, or be absorbed back into The One… something of the sort is going on here.
And something like the Jewish Cabbala is back of all that mystical tra-la-la.

*) Acid-heads in the 60’s used to claim the same sort of liberation as a result of a good trip.

**) It’s all MIB stuff really: do the “illuminated” recognise each other on the street by means of their clothes? Well, Goths, trainspotters and footie enthusiasts do . .

@GW: You are right in that we cannot put our full trust in any external signal. We must be the actors in the interests of our race, and not leave action or truth to messiahs.

Yet it must be seen that there is information in everything. It is the mind of the observer that distills truth from lies.
As for the Matrix having blacks, jews, etc. This is a example of how if a set of ideas doesn’t contain one’s predetermined filter, to close your mind and only see lies, is as deluded as to see only truth because you are black, or a jew. This is a state of mind easily manipulated.

The most skilled lie, told by a master of lies, is to show you the truth in such a way that you believe the opposite. The liar can now lie by telling the truth, the burden of misinformation becomes contained within the mind of the manipulated, and in time even the simplest and most common truths, can easily be presented as lies…, further, in time the manipulated will soon only believe lies.. and recoil in hypnotic disbelief at any truth. Therefore all truth become inverted. Such as we witness today.
This technique is called ‘revelation of the method’ as described by Michael A. Hoffman:

“In the liturgy of the alchemical wedding of opposites, whose patron deity is Janus, the two-faced god of schizophrenia, it is necessary that the truth be told at least once, to all present. After which, those officiating are free to lie with impunity, without fear of “sow-and-reap” repercussions, or blowback. This is a function of the alchemy that is the Revelation of the Method.”

For the misinformation placed in the movie ‘The Matrix’ to be accepted, common truth must be expressed as inspired myths or ‘secret’ or ‘hidden knowledge’,  and the duties of the common man taken up by archetypes or messiahs. The same treatment was by necessity applied to Christianity, as shown by it’s use of the metaphor.
Lies by themselves are insubstantial. They must be hosted by truth to be accepted.

It is called ‘secret knowledge’ as an alibi for ignoring what is in front of you for all time. Unless it is suddenly termed ‘hidden’, the mind has no mechanism to suddenly admit what the eye see’s.

The movie ‘The Matrix’  was a commercially funded, yet independent movie that was produced and backed by jews (Joel Silver etc.) who have history of manipulative and forensic productions, (such as the series ‘La Femme Nikita’ and ‘24’ among others).
The Wachowski brothers who wrote and directed the film, are also questionable in terms of motive. ‘Larry’ Wachowski is a transexual who now goes by the name of ‘Lana’ Wachowski, and has undergone full surgical sex change operation.

Nonetheless they have compellingly told a story that touches the core of our dilemma - revelation and victory over the Matrix. Victory and revelation over the Matrix may mean different things to different people…. for some control, for some enjoyment… for us, destruction…..of the Matrix. That the movie served all these interests explains it’s great success. And there is much to learn from it.

People ‘think’ they are not controlled because “misinformation” does not alter our ability to think, it only alters the result.

Whilst the film may not be an accurate depiction of ‘the Matrix’ we live in it still serves as a useful metaphor. The gulf between what we believe the world is and the harsh reality of what it actually is, is huge. It’s more than a little bewildering to learn that democracy is just one more farm management system easily manipulated by our owners to suit their purposes. Our history is a lie (we’ve been here much longer than they claim), the banking system a scam of colossal proportions, most if not all wars funded and manipulated by the ‘elites’ to serve their agenda and so much more.

Multiculturalism, mass immigration and political correctness are all elements of the transition from national farm management systems to a global one.

Grimoire,

Yet it must be seen that there is information in everything. It is the mind of the observer that distills truth from lies.

What collective pychological facility is required for telling those lies from truth.

Believe nothing, including belief itself. Know what you know, know what you don’t.
The truth is knowable, lies require belief.

We may be able to learn the truth aabout this, not by watching a video, which uses a suspect medium itself, but but going back to old GKC (+1936)

Apologies for the lateness and the length; but Matrix is an introduction to the inverted conspiracy theory - the one beloved by the old acid-heads and the Icke-ists - the gnostic theory that the Abnormal, the Esoteric and the Hermetic must be seen as the truth, and that one must undergo a quasi-Masonic initiatory ordeal before joining the exclusive ranks of its high-minded contemplators. Nietzsche again, I’m afraid.

From The Tyranny of Bad Journalism

It always takes a considerable time to see the simple and central fact about anything. All sorts of things have been said about the modern Press, especially the Yellow Press; that it is Jingo or Philistine or sensational or wrongly inquisitive or vulgar or indecent or trivial; but none of these have anything really to do with the point.

The point about the Press is that it is not what it is called. It is not the “popular Press.” It is not the public Press. It is not an organ of public opinion. It is a conspiracy of a very few millionaires, all sufficiently similar in type to agree on the limits of what this great nation (to which we belong) may know about itself and its friends and enemies. The ring is not quite complete; there are old-fashioned and honest papers: but it is sufficiently near to completion to produce on the ordinary purchaser of news the practical effects of a corner and a monopoly. He receives all his political information and all his political marching orders from what is by this time a sort of half-conscious secret society, with very few members, but a great deal of money.

This enormous and essential fact is concealed for us by a number of legends that have passed into common speech. There is the notion that the Press is flashy or trivial _because_ it is popular. In other words, an attempt is made to discredit democracy by representing journalism as the natural literature of democracy. All this is cold rubbish. The democracy has no more to do with the papers than it has with the peerages. The millionaire newspapers are vulgar and silly because the millionaires are vulgar and silly. It is the proprietor, not the editor, not the sub-editor, least of all the reader, who is pleased with this monotonous prairie of printed words. The same slander on democracy can be noticed in the case of advertisements. There is many a tender old Tory imagination that vaguely feels that our streets would be hung with escutcheons and tapestries, if only the profane vulgar had not hung them with advertisements of Sapolio and Sunlight Soap. But advertisement does not come from the unlettered many. It comes from the refined few. Did you ever hear of a mob rising to placard the Town Hall with proclamations in favour of Sapolio? Did you ever see a poor, ragged man laboriously drawing and painting a picture on the wall in favour of Sunlight Soap—simply as a labour of love? It is nonsense; those who hang our public walls with ugly pictures are the same select few who hang their private walls with exquisite and expensive pictures. The vulgarisation of modern life has come from the governing class; from the highly educated class. Most of the people who have posters in Camberwell have peerages at Westminster. But the strongest instance of all is that which has been unbroken until lately, and still largely prevails; the ghastly monotony of the Press.

Then comes that other legend; the notion that men like the masters of the Newspaper Trusts “give the people what they want.” Why, it is the whole aim and definition of a Trust that it gives the people what it chooses. In the old days, when Parliaments were free in England, it was discovered that one courtier was allowed to sell all the silk, and another to sell all the sweet wine. A member of the House of Commons humorously asked who was allowed to sell all the bread. I really tremble to think what that sarcastic legislator would have said if he had been put off with the modern nonsense about “gauging the public taste.” Suppose the first courtier had said that, by his shrewd, self-made sense, he had detected that people had a vague desire for silk; and even a deep, dim human desire to pay so much a yard for it! Suppose the second courtier said that he had, by his own rugged intellect, discovered a general desire for wine: and that people bought his wine at his price—when they could buy no other! Suppose a third courtier had jumped up and said that people always bought his bread when they could get none anywhere else.

Well, that is a perfect parallel. “After bread, the need of the people is knowledge,” said Danton. Knowledge is now a monopoly, and comes through to the citizens in thin and selected streams, exactly as bread might come through to a besieged city. Men must wish to know what is happening, whoever has the privilege of telling them. They must listen to the messenger, even if he is a liar. They must listen to the liar, even if he is a bore. The official journalist for some time past has been both a bore and a liar . . .

If you retain the servile superstition that the Press, as run by the capitalists, is popular (in any sense except that in which dirty water in a desert is popular), consider the case of the solemn articles in praise of the men who own newspapers—men of the type of Cadbury or Harmsworth, men of the type of the small club of millionaires. Did you ever hear a plain man in a tramcar or train talking about Carnegie’s bright genial smile or Rothschild’s simple, easy hospitality? Did you ever hear an ordinary citizen ask what was the opinion of Sir Joseph Lyons about the hopes and fears of this, our native land? These few small-minded men publish, papers to praise themselves. You could no more get an intelligent poor man to praise a millionaire’s soul, except for hire, than you could get him to sell a millionaire’s soap, except for hire. And I repeat that, though there are other aspects of the matter of the new plutocratic raid, one of the most important is mere journalistic jealousy. The Yellow Press is bad journalism: and wishes to stop the appearance of good journalism.

- G.K. Chesterton

Lurker: yes, you’re right.
The brand certainly calls forth a quasi-religious or fetishistic response in people, and they do seem to worship the commercial concern that devised it: GKC missed out and didn’y guess that the poor simps would act happily as unpaid sandwich-men for the rich.
We’ve come a long way down since the 1920’s… (Myself, I see it as a pathetic attempt to enroll in the army of the Antichrist , come Armaggeddon: in the hope of being awarded a cooler seat on the griddle.)

The quote from Chesterton does hint at the way our media is controlled and used against us but, from what I’ve learned, this is only one part of a much larger control system.

On the subject of the media those of you on MR may enjoy this article on the Hidden Evil website.

Here’s a sample:

Sutton and Wood warned, “Anyone in the U.S. who promotes unwelcome news for the elite receives some unwelcome attention in return.” This attention includes the use of experts, mainstream media and anti-hate organizations for well-coordinated character assassination. According to author Perloff, a document released by the House Committee on Un-American Activities, on September 23, 1956 entitled, Propaganda and the Alert Citizen outlined the tactics reportedly used by the Establishment to discredit opposition.

Quoting from this document, Perloff wrote, “The tactic used had a prototype in a directive issued by the Communist Party… It read: When certain obstructionists become too irritating, label them, after suitable build-ups, as Fascist or Nazi or anti-Semitic, and use the prestige of anti-Fascist and tolerance organizations to discredit them. ... In the public mind constantly associate those who oppose us with those names which already have a bad smell.

It’s worth bearing in mind that ‘Communism’ was itself a creation of the elites.
