Rod Liddle does bigotry. But is it really worse than hypocrisy? Five years ago the distinctly loose journalistic cannon that is Rod Liddle opined on things he shouldn’t say about black people. It was one of those moments when the thought crosses one’s mind, “what does this person think privately?” Now we know:
Today, no doubt anticipating this piece of bad news, Liddle wrote a piece ostensibly about Anjem Chaudary and Islam4UK for The Times. It was titled, “We must defend the right to be stupid, vile and obnoxious”. I doubt whether the owners of The Independent will join him in that defence. Still, the question remains of who sets the tone, and just how whorish and hypocritical can political columnists and reporters be in obeying it. I think back to 1997 and the coming to power of Tony Blair, and recall the quite startling change in tone from the Telegraph, for example. Suddenly, it was bad business for the standard-bearer of the Tory right not to accomodate its dire enemy of only a day or two before. Readers were expected to swallow the change in the manner of Airstrip One’s benighted workers hearing over the tannoys that Oceania is at war with East Asia ... Oceania has always been at war with East Asia. It was not dissimilar when, in December 1989, the press all agreed - entirely spuriously - that the new decade would be about compassion. They declared redundant all the materialistic enthusiasms of the previous ten years. Maggie duly fell from grace, as required, and the journalists who had typed and hyped the Thatcherite revolution gave it not a backward glance. The most recent example of journalistic whoring was, of course, the completely disgraceful campaign against the BNP in the run-up to the European election in June. A whiff of a repeat appeared yesterday - again in the Daily Mail, reporting on the apology given by BBC managers over an “insult” delivered to the black footballer and adulterer Ashley Cole by the BNP’s Joey Barber and Mark Collett:
The thread is a treat, by the way - agreement with the BBC is a trifle thin on the ground. Now we know that “monkeymfc” would have the same sentiments it is reasonable to speculate who else in the fourth estate privately thinks this way - and who, should the need arise, wouldn’t hesitate for one moment to whore for nationalism just as they all whore for neoliberalism + neo-Marxism now. In closing, and to prove that the Barton/Collett thread isn’t simply down to the reactionary nature of the Daily Mail, look at the thread to this Observer op-ed titled We’re still a long way from an honest debate about immigration. Look at the “recommends” - even here, in the church of the thaumaturgical state, the Millwall fan club is making its rude and unwelcome opinions known. That latent pro-white feeling is what all the tone-setting and journalistic hypocrisy is aiming to cap and divert electorally into the mainstream. In four months, perhaps less, we will know to what extent it has succeeded. And it will, of course, succeed. At least Rod Liddle won’t have to participate in it. Comments:2

Cannon surely? 3
Posted by Guessedworker on Mon, 18 Jan 2010 08:55 | # How right you are, Lurker. Thank you. Englander, that is true. But journalists are used to create the prevailing winds. They write in the knowledge of this and in the knowledge that what they write is, therefore, insensible to any standard of truth. It was always thus, and the image of the world-weary, cynical, alcoholic reporter poisoned by his contact with the ways of men doubtless reflects that in part. 4
Posted by Bill on Mon, 18 Jan 2010 09:23 | # Something I’ve pondered on for a long time. Is football still the white working class beautiful game? If it is, then what is it’s relationship between the white working class supporter and the not inconsiderable portion of the players who are black? Estimated percentage of black players being, maybe 20%? Not many brown Asian soccer players you will note. What is the white working class view of the inroads of black players into the English game? A conflict of loyalties could arise if, (like many teams) there there are many star black players in his favourite team. Football must be the elixir to the multicult, maybe they’re right, most white football supporters seem colour blind? Ashley Cole is a black (non-white) England international. Is he a black icon? non-white icon? English/British/ icon? A civically British icon? Or is he just Ashley Cole the footballer? I understand the EDL attract white working class soccer supporters. 5

Posted by Political Correctness Explained on Mon, 18 Jan 2010 19:33 | # Political correctness has always been with us, and is fueled by the issues of naming (including slurring) and labeling (including stereotypes). There is no greater power than that connected with naming and labeling, and you can see it exploited by a corrupt media, academia, and the horrifying urban-class. Unfortunately, the diverse white American, Atlantic Islander, and European peoples are blind to this mystery, although it is written on every wall, every newspaper page, every network TV show, and every Hollywood film. Someday when posters and commenters grow tired of high abstractions, maybe they will launch their own assault built around a demand for the right to a sense of decent self-respect and attack against back the individuals who slur and stereotype our demographic. What fun to go on the offense for once! 7
Posted by Bill on Mon, 18 Jan 2010 20:21 | # Who sets the tone? Bloody good question. In order to set the tone you must first have an idea converted into a blueprint, into a programme, and an adopted nuanced tone at point of entry. Who are these people sitting around a table discussing the agenda, who are these master-minds at the tip of the pyramid? What is the chain of communication down from the fountain-head to the user at the coal face? NGO’s CFR, Fabian Society, Trilateral Commission and literally thousands more such bodies all reporting and working for, and within, the United Nations (and EU) and then down to national governments for implementation. Do these agendas, plans, codes, such as political correctness, no discrimination, tolerance etc. start off as informal discussions with like minded people? Is it expanded at Bilderburger meetings? Illuminati sessions? Think Tank lectures? Ditto, legal institutions? Invited journalists? Media type opinon formers? Does it all takes place at such meetings? Do they hive off into side rooms and bounce ideas off each other? Must do, it ‘s got be done somewhere somehow. This process has been at work for generations, in fact most who serve never live to see the fruits of their labours. Whoever and whatever it is, it is a huge, huge, fete of human ingenuity, employing tens of thousands world-wide, funded by private wealth measured in billions. It’s tentacles reach into every soul, every nook and cranny of the public and private sphyce. Most are unnacountable to the populations of the world, most do not offer themselves unto the election process for election, some do, as politicians, and act out their role to perfection in a rigged game suckering the public. The Media sustain the whole matrix with endless pap, lies, obscufation, bullying and deceit. Most mornings it is noticeable there is a consensus of headline news in the daily tabloids, I suppose you could say this a natural self choosing process, but one wonders if a tone has been set in accordance with some master of ceremonies from on high. These people see themselves as top of the evolved species and natural leaders. The masses are seen as nothing but dumb animals, to be enslaved in servitude to serve them, the elites. Welcome to the Brave New World. This scam must go down in human history as the best engineered ever, it’s perfect. I wonder if Spielberg has got the film rights. 8

But if someone breaks your window, you can remove the rock that broke it or throw the person who threw the rock in jail, but you’ve still got a broken window. Your real problem is the fellow who prevents you from fixing the window—amazingly, some people prefer it broken. Post a comment:

The vast majority of people just drift with the prevailing winds, and this must include more than a few journalists too. I have no doubt that the public would quite quickly adapt to any change in said air current.
