Thou Shalt Not
To add to that, readers who are interested in knowing a little more of van Gogh and why he died, please read the comment by Braveheart in the thread of my initial post on the killing. You will find there a translation of van Gogh’s last press article. My thanks to Braveheart for that. Comments:2

Posted by dal on Sat, 06 Nov 2004 01:48 | # This is a pretty disturbing story, I thought we had it bad in Britain. There are two potential issues I’d like clearing up though. Regarding this incident -I’v had difficulty finding sources- is it true that the poster was placed (without property-owner’s permission) on the wall of a mosque? Also, could someone please translate the small message below the main title. It is barely visible on the still shot but clear on the video. Both could easily change the context to legitimate policing: preventing a possible violent disturbance and arresting a vandal. Thanks. 4

That’s the silver lining in all this. 5
Posted by Braveheart on Sat, 06 Nov 2004 10:38 | # Some clarifications for Dal Chris Ripke is a Rotterdam artist. His artist studio is close to a mosque in the Insulindestraat, but Chris painted the angel with the commandment on the exterior wall of HIS studio. I have much admiration for him that he has the audacity to do so, knowing that this is not without danger for him. Indeed, at another spot in Amsterdam with a large picture of Theo Van Gogh, Moroccan youth was shouting: “Hamas, Hamas”, while they spit at the picture. Normally they cry: “Hamas, Hamas, all Jews to the gas”, but this time the latter was omitted. By the way, Chris is no racist, on the contrary, he tries to involve Moroccan and Turkish youth and adults in his work. Concerning the little text: Although I am willing to translate it, sorry but I can’t decipher it. If you can, I will translate. At any event, you can’t go to inspect the picture any more, because the authorities have destroyed this piece of art. What rests of it can be seen at: http://www.2525.com/log/ (on November 5, 2004) And I don’t think this little text to be very important, as nobody refers to it. Also to note: Theo Van Gogh’s webmaster, Karel Gabler, appeals the other citizens of Amsterdam to do the same and to write in chalk besides their own house door: “Thou Shalt Not kill.” Flanders in Belgium 6
Posted by Psellos on Sat, 06 Nov 2004 10:56 | # This is incredible. The culture of tolerance, one of the greatest achievements of Europe, which has allowed us to overcome the petty and bloody divisions of the past is actually destroying Europe today. Hegel pointed out how many civilizations die by intensifying their own principles. Europe’s principle of tolerance was not intended to be used indiscriminately, but only in a society where mutual respect was possible. We must not tolerate evil, and we must fight Islamic intolerance and hypocrisy. 7
Posted by Braveheart on Sat, 06 Nov 2004 12:23 | # Correction: I wrote erroneous that Frank Gabler’s appeal to chalk the text next to one’s door, was only for Amsterdam. This in not correct. No town was mentioned. Altough Theo Van Gogh’s last text was about Amsterdam, the piece of art with the text of the commandment was situated in Rotterdam. My excuses for that. See at: http://www.degezonderoker.nl/indexc.html I meanwhile read that Rotterdam’s mayor has apologised (Friday in the late afternoon) for the destroying of the piece of art and also for the destroying of the footage. As I read that the event was aired on Wednesday, my conclusion is that the mayor waited with his excuses until he saw that an international escalation started. Everyone should take a good close look at the painting on that wall, bearing in mind that according to the mayor of Rotterdam it was racist and therefore had to be removed under police guard. See if you can identify what’s racist in it. Take a very good look, because from now on the multi-culti outlook being rammed down our unwilling throats by our own governments will apparently start to deem any public statement of any of the Ten Commandments and any public depiction of an angel to be racist. That painting on that Rotterdam wall may well turn out to be one of the last times any of us gets to see either displayed in public.
Notice by the way how the definition of racism has evolved to its present form. It is currently something like this: “Racism is any opposition whatsoever to government’s plans for extinguishing the white-Euro Christian race and ethno-culture by force, against its will.”
That’s what racism is now judged to be. (Anyone think it’s a little ... one-sided, perhaps?... Hey, just asking ... )
