Garrison Keillor! What’s got into you? Garrison Keillor admonishes “Nonbelievers, please leave Christmas alone”:
Maybe Mr. Keillor has realized that freedom from is as important as freedom to. Comments:2

Au contraire, GW. I appreciated that very much. Great vocals! Thanks for posting it. BTW, I’ve spent much of my life fearing the Russians; wouldn’t it be ironic if they are the ones that acually restore pre-postmodern Western culture thus saveing us from extinction? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Lighten-up james. Since there are so many in the WN movement that extol the virtues of paganism, I was just trying to be incluuuuuuuuusive. 9
Posted by KW on Tue, 22 Dec 2009 14:54 | # Since Garrison Keillor has been known as fairly liberal in the past, I wonder if this is satire, and not truly how he sees things… 10
Posted by Flossie on Tue, 22 Dec 2009 18:22 | # KW—- That was my first thought, too: surely this is some sort of satire. It’s hard to believe Keillor, ever the dutiful leftie, would write such things, not in a month of Sundays. 11

Posted by KW on Wed, 23 Dec 2009 19:43 | # James Bowery, that’s what puzzled me. GK’s article reminds me of a debate teacher I once had: the teacher would throw things out there to get us thinking, and we would never really know the teacher’s opinion on things. GK’s previously published leanings would make one wonder if he puts the meaning behind what he wrote on this topic that we of the White Awareness crowd would put on it. 15

Keillor is the ultimate example of a White Midwestern Protestant liberal, and if this long time NPR personality clearly understands who is behind this war on Christmas, Christian culture, and White people in general, and has the sack to say it openly, imagine how the rest of the midwestern White progressives must feel. 16

Posted by Fred Scrooby on Sun, 27 Dec 2009 23:46 | # I don’t want to condemn all U.S. Lutheranism. The other two major branches of Lutheranism in the U.S. are apparently the Wisconsin Synod and the Missouri Synod, and there are a small handful of minor branches as well. This Wisconsin Synod sounds like a very good Church. I was just looking at some of its positions which range from OK to good, with a few “OK I can deal with that, I just won’t tell anybody when I break it” ones. And look at this one:
My feeling exactly. Well said. “Through some crack, the smoke of Satan has entered the [Roman] Church,” as one pope lamented. Judging from the positions I was just looking at, this Wisconsin Synod looks like a good outfit, a religion a man or woman can be proud to be a member of. I caught a glimpse of some of the Missouri Synod’s positions too, and they’re also acceptable from the bit I saw just now. Both are WORLDS BETTER than the Devil-worshipping ELCA denomination. There’s a little Lutheran church several miles from here, a nice little thing way up on a hill in these mountains, looks comfy and cozy every time I drive past there. Must be ten or fifteen years ago I nearly went there once to attend a Sunday service — I can’t recall why, since I’m Catholic — I think the Lutherans had just done something or said something in the political arena which I liked, and I wanted to “fellowship” with them or something, show my approval so to speak. Knowing what I know now, I’m glad I didn’t go in — what if that particular church was part of this ELCA outfit? My GOD what a mistake I might have come that close to making — setting foot in an ELCA church! Now that I know the ropes with the Lutherans, next time I drive by there I’m going to stop in and inquire what synod they belong to. If they’re ELCA I’ll turn around and get out of there as fast as my legs will carry me. A bat never flew out of hell faster than I’ll explode out of that place, I guarantee it. On the other hand, if they’re either Missouri or Wisconsin I’m going to make a point of attending a Sunday service or two, to show my approval of them. And if they’re Wisconsin especially, I’m going to tell my sons currently living and working in New York City to ditch their girlfriends, come back here, and find one whose family attends this church. That’s the kind of normal, feminine, good marriage material, good mother material girl I want for a daugher-in-law some day, not the New York City tainted kind. Damn right. 18
Posted by W. T. Mann on Thu, 31 Dec 2009 07:16 | # Fred Scrooby, I can appreciate what you are saying about the Lutherans, and I do know all about ELCA, but you are fundamentally misunderstanding Protestantism, since you’re a Papist and all. People often fundamentally misunderstand Christianity as an ideology instead of an institution. The majority of people in ELCA don’t subscribe to the official statements. You are reading the most radical, far-left fringe of the Lutherans who have a specific position in the community - they write official pronunciations that everyone ignores. ELCA as a political force has virtually zero power in America, other than signing some committee’s name to some liberal cause. In practical terms, ELCA is a White club that excludes Jews, and even proposes boycotting Israeli goods now and then because of how evil they are to the Palestinians. The only reason that ELCA preachers get away with saying Iowa needs more blacks is specifically because their aren’t any blacks in Iowa. Once the first one actually moves in the preacher will be ignored. Yes, it’s all rather hypocritical but that’s how it is. 19

Posted by Fred Scrooby on Fri, 01 Jan 2010 18:42 | # He’s not Norwegian. Read his book “Lake Wobegone” inspired by his growing up in 1950s rural/small-town Minnesota: he hates Norwegians and Lutherans. Despises them. Loathes them. His own ancestry is, I believe, Scottish, and his family was not Lutheran, but he grew up surrounded by Norwegian and German Lutherans and could not STAND them, any of them, neither Norwegians nor Germans nor Lutherans. 22

Posted by Armor on Fri, 08 Jan 2010 03:54 | # J.Kalb: ”[The ruling class] tries to make its life easier by accommodating popular concerns” I had not noticed that. They should try harder. “but its guiding principle is less the will of the people than staying in power and putting into effect what it thinks makes sense.” The ruling class know its policies don’t make sense. “And what it thinks makes sense is determined not by the people but by the particular understandings and interests of its members individually and collectively.” Collectively, the Western ruling classes do not protect their self-interests, they are committing suicide. Their lives are unlikely to get better while the rest of the country goes down the drain. I don’t think they feel any solidarity between themselves. In any case, the ruling classes are not completely separate from the non-ruling classes: not every one in government comes from a rich family involved in politics. I’m not even sure we have a ruling class. If we have one, it isn’t ruling at all. They are in a position to take advantage of the perks, but they don’t lead politically. “In the end, the myths of liberalism can no more be justified than those of collectivism.” He seems to say that both are equally bad. In fact, racial collectivism is far preferable to today’s liberal cannibalism. 24
Posted by Bruce on Sat, 26 Jun 2010 21:11 | # Hey Scroob. I left one of the turnabout comments. The ELCA is the ECUSA without Episcopal government. The Missouri Synod is about half gone. In general, the Wisconsin Synod is better than the Missouri. The ELS are Norwegian lutherans who are very much like WELS. The CLC is also a good confessional Lutheran Church. One thing to look for: do they allow women to hold positions of authority over men and vote in congregational matters? Good if they don’t. Some of the smaller synods are pietistic: i.e. they call all sorts of things that aren’t sin, sin. Outside of teh upper midwest, you’ll have a hard time finding a WELS or ELS or CLC that’s a sizable parish. One complaint. I’ve noticed WELS going out of it’s way to show disproportionate number of minorities in their magazine on their website, etc. Now there’s nothing wrong with this except that WELS is probably 98% white. And most that aren’t are Hmong. Why do they have to MAKE AN EFFORT to parade minorities in front of us? They do this at work. Probably 90% of the engineers are white but looking at the official photos, you’d think that its was a quarter white, a quarter black, a quarter latino and a quarter asian. 25
Posted by Fred Scrooby on Sat, 26 Jun 2010 21:39 | # Thanks for those clarifications, Bruce. “They do this at work. Posted by Bruce on Sun, 27 Jun 2010 11:32 | # Fred, It’s a defense company. The biggest defense company. So it’s usually multi-discipline: aero, mechanical, electical, systems, etc. The (engineering-level) meetings that I attend are usually ALL white males. There may be an occasional Asian. we don’t need foreign engineers. White men can build the best-engineered defense products in the world. 27

Thanks, Bruce. The thing that interests me is: Which federal government agency will get on your firm’s back if the firm’s brochures reflect the reality that the engineering staff is 90% white men, and the 10% that aren’t white men are NOT made up of large percentages of Negroes, Latinos, and women but are Oriental or Subcon men (even those probably hired mostly as quota-fillers in order to, once again, keep the feds off the firm’s back)? Once we know precisely which fed agency is acting as watchdog in this type of crap we can trace back to how that agency was started in the first place, who gave it its mandate as watchdog for this specific crap, and which groups funded the bought politicians involved in setting it up in that way with that specific mandate. Once the agency is set up, the same funders who buy the politicans will of course be watchful to see that it carries out its mandate with diligence, and will see to its staffing accordingly (staffing with plenty of Jews and non-whites in other words). Then we’ll have the real culprits responsible for a significant chunk of race-replacement in this country (because what this stuff is striving to do is create a self-fulfilling prophecy of a heavily multiracial America, yet this crap started in earnest around 1970 when America was not heavily multiracial but was 90% white, and continued without let-up thereafter: if you brainwash people enough that their country is heavily multiracial when it isn’t, they’ll resist less when you push it in that direction for real, because they’ll think it already is): the culprits will of course include those funders stipulating that specific mandate for that specific fed agency and those same funders standing guard to assure aggressively anti-white directorship and staffing of the agency once set up (staffing with Jews, in other words, and non-whites). We can of course all predict pretty reliably which species of insect will be seen scurrying around to get out of the sunlight once that particular rock is overturned. Also, Bruce, as an employee of a big engineering firm, what’s your take on the CEO of John Deere recently telling the Council on Competitiveness (what it doubtless very much wanted to hear), that his company couldn’t be competitive if it hired American engineers, so its only hope of surviving was to hire more and more H-1Bs from China and the Subcontinent? See my comment here: 28
Posted by Bruce on Sun, 27 Jun 2010 21:42 | # Fred, The pictures and brochures are mostly for internal consumption (the internal news and propaganda they spew out). The government doesn’t enforce who shows up in our photos, they enforce employment numbers. However, there’s nothing that says where these people need to be employed within the company. So, for example, blacks frequently end up in something like the ethics office (‘cause as you know black females have great moral authority!!) or engineering PLANNING. I’ve never seen a Mestizo doing anything except mowing grass on lour property. The Hispanic engineer I know looks like a Spaniard. As far as the John Deere CEO, well, all I can say is I believe my lying eyes. We do just fine without foreigners. 29
