Happy 2008 to all our readers

Thanks for keeping us company these past 12 months.  It’s been, I think, a pretty static year, as these things go.  Certainly no 2005.  But in my patch, at least, there has been an outbreak of honest talk in the press.  The genie is out of the bottle, and it won’t be put back.  The consequences of that will become clear in the year ahead.

Read about it here.

Good luck to you all.

For relative newcomers to the Right, what marked 2005?

Same to you, GW and thank you for your yeoman-style efforts during 2007.

Thanks Al - you too.

Happy new year to you and the rest of MR, GW. The thaw is beginning and the Anti-White Witches’ reign nears its end!

Are there genetic differences between “races”?

Mark Pagel, evolutionary biologist at Reading University. His research includes work on language and cultural evolution.

“Flawed as the old ideas about race are, modern genomic studies reveal a surprising, compelling and different picture of human genetic diversity. We are on average about 99.5% similar to each other genetically. This is a new figure, down from the previous estimate of 99.9%. To put what may seem like minuscule differences in perspective, we are somewhere around 98.5% similar, maybe more, to chimpanzees, our nearest evolutionary relatives.

“The new figure for us, then, is significant. It derives from among other things, many small genetic differences that have emerged from studies that compare human populations ... Like it or not, there may be many genetic differences among human populations - including differences that may even correspond to old categories of “race” - that are real differences in the sense of making one group better than another at responding to some particular environmental problem.

“This in no way says one group is in general “superior” to another ... But it warns us that we must be prepared to discuss genetic differences among human populations.

Are humans still evolving?

Steven Pinker, leading psychologist and language expert at Harvard University. Author of The Language Instinct and The Blank Slate.

“I’ve had to question the overall assumption that human evolution pretty much stopped by the time of the agricultural revolution ... New [laboratory] results have suggested that thousands of genes, perhaps as much as 10% of the human genome, have been under strong recent selection, and the selection may even have accelerated during the past several thousand years ... If these results hold up, and apply to psychologically relevant brain function ... then the field of evolutionary psychology might have to reconsider the simplifying assumption that biological evolution was pretty much over and done with 10-000-50,000 years ago.”

Thanks for the link to that Gruaniad article Iamtheflaw. The thing that struck me was that nothing there seems to be very groundbreaking in the sex, race and genetics fields. Their just going back to old ideas that were prevalent before the jews got stuck in spreading their “we’re all equal” BS.

This is a great site, now in my “daily reads” folder.

And happy new year to everyone.

Happy New Year one and all!  And to GW, in addition, go warmest thanks for all his hard work, his always insightful, enlightening discussions, and his unwavering commitment!  And by the way, congratulations too, on having created one the internet’s best, most important web-sites!

Yes, down here it certainly was a quiet year too. The highlights perhaps being Tom Sunic speaking in Sydney, 30 members of the balaclava clad New Right gate crashing a Commie march and the biggest Animal Rights organisation in the country being cut off from the Left for being “racist” - and not backing down, unlike Mr Morrissey(again).

2008 just has to be more interesting.

There’s no excuse for the pornography.  No one here needed that repulsive image thrust before their eyes.  Whoever posted it is no one who I feel the slightest common cause with.  I believe it to be the act of someone hostile to majority rights issues, someone who wanted to offend our sensibilities.

He did offend mine, and so, since GW has chosen to allow it to be here, I’ll leave.

“He did offend mine, and so, since GW has chosen to allow it to be here, I’ll leave.”

I hope the explanation for it is: It just got past the editing-eye of GW?

The teenager who posted the porn will be delighted to have got a reaction, because there will be nothing else going on in his life. That’s why stuff like that should just be removed silently by MR without comment from anyone else. As it is, I’ll say that I found the porn and its poster invoking pity rather than repulsion.

OK,

My British ISP stripped out the link posted above, and which is now deleted.  So I couldn’t see it.  This also occurred when Razib Khan put his porn re-route on links from MR to GNXP.  I never saw the re-route, though just about everybody else did.

If the image re-appears I may not be the first to know!  So please alert me.

Apologies for not dealing with that immediately.
