Nick Carter is everything the soon-to-be disappearing English majority of Leicester do not need in the editor of their local newspaper.  In his hands the Leicester Mercury is the messenger of multiculturalism and anti-racism.  Nick is profoundly dedicated to both and, as such, is the indefatigable enemy of majority interests.

He regards multiculturalism as the “basis on which our society is built” - a somewhat questionable claim, it must be said.  Perhaps he can plead in mitigation that he does not belong to that waning ethnic majority and doesn’t know any better.  Or perhaps he does and he does, but he is ideologically incapable of averring to the real foundations of England and the real people who built them.

He is no historian, in all fairness – and one should strive to retain one’s sense of fairness even with people like this, in fact especially with people like this.  He claims: “This country has been multi-cultural for a very long time.”  I am not absolutely sure when multiculturalism became our official religion.  I must admit, I thought it was rather recently.  But if Nick says it was long, long ago when Leicester’s housing estates emerged from the primordial mists and the first, of course, always vibrant immigrants drove out the neanderthals and built a mosque … well, he must be right.

So let’s indulge young Nick in his childish sense of time.  I am sure he harbours no animus towards English people with memories of, ooh, ten or twenty years ago.  Then again, perhaps he does but considers their memories falsified by the higher truth of multiculturalism.

Anyway, many an editor must wrestle with that age-old question, “Is it good for the … circulation.”  And if the answer is yes, then stuff the indigenes - and in double-quick time, actually.

After all, what can they do about it?  Nothing politically.  They’re delegitimised.  Even Leicester’s oppressed black persons can, if they put their thinking caps on those old column inches, get the Mercury’s message to pump up the electoral volume.  But the English?  It’s support the Multi-Cult or be excluded completely.  That’s the way Nick’s sandals fly.

So he can readily afford to upset, say, the housewives favourite’s new and unacceptably patriotic party, Veritas.  And he has.  He made the mighty Mercury’s election coverage of them dependent on a signature from each candidate to a red-hot progressive, new anti-racism declaration.  It’s all the rage in cutting-edge Leicester, you see.  The city is winging its way colour-blindly towards becoming the first majority non-white hell-hole in Britain.  Within the next decade, they say.  But since “they” really don’t know how many non-English are in the city it might all happen even faster than expected.

For some extraordinary reason not every native is breathlessly looking forward to this enriching and, of course, always vibrant experience.  Some, like Veritas, actually want to spoil the celebrations by ending diversity training and disbanding the Commission For Racial Equality.  Incredible.  So signing Nick’s declaration was obviously going to be too much for them.  I only hope they garner an appreciable number of votes next Thursday for this act of courage.

And I hope they will not be alone.  The United Kingdom Independence Party also refused to sign Nick’s declaration.  They were less courageous, it has to be said.  And, in a way, so were The British National Party, who had nothing to lose.  Multiculti Nick - the hero of La-La-Leicester and beyond – wasn’t going to give them anything but the barest attention anyway.  He cannot bring himself to support the right of free Englishmen to speak that with which he personally disagrees.  Well, journalists are not renowned for high principle even when they don’t advocate race replacement.

If there is anyone in Leicester who disagrees with him they’ll have an opportunity to register that disagreement next Thursday.  It will be interesting and, perhaps, instructive to see how many take it.
