Axe attack on German train, 21 injured.

The BBC is reporting, as of 12 minutes ago:

More than 20 people in Germany have been injured after a man with an axe went on the rampage on a train, German media report.

A police operation including a helicopter is under way in Heidingsfeld, a part of the city of Wurzburg in southern Germany.

Local media (in German) wrote that 21 people had been injured and a suspect appeared to have been shot.

The train line between Wurzburg-Heidingsfeld and Ochsenfurt is closed.

The German news agency DPA reported that the police said some of the victims’ injuries were life-threatening.

No further details yet.  We wait to learn if there were shouts of “Allahu Akbar”.  Assuming that turns out to be the case, the next question will be: “Was he one of Merkel’s new guests?”

BBC update: reports local police confirm the axe-man has been shot dead.

look we dont know yet, we all have a fairly good idea but we dont know for sure

what we do know is that if the man, like anders brevik, says he did it for political reasons, possibly right wing, and is motivated by a certain school of thought, that school of thought will be condemned as a source of motivation for this carnage, follows of the school of thought condemned and so on.

if however he says he does it in the name of some “other” ideology, did it in that ideology’s name, according to its teachings and in support of followers of that ideology, it obvious has nothing to do with that special ideology, and the usual lot will jump up and down to say it has nothing to do with it.

He shouted ‘Allahu Akbar!’ indeed and was an Afghani guest of Merkel -

Axe-man who stormed a passenger train and hacked at terrified passengers while shouting “Allahu Akbar” has been identified as a 17-year-old Afghan who entered Germany as a lone refugee.

Allahu Akbar is just the Arab’s way of saying Muh Dik.  For the English it’s Muh Moralism.  For Krauts it’s Muh Jackboot.  It’s an expression of their will to power.

BBC, Error puts Chinese tourist in German migrant hostel”, 8 August 2016:

A Chinese tourist spent nearly two weeks in a German migrant hostel after mistakenly applying for asylum when he actually wanted to report a theft.

German media say the 31-year-old backpacker, who spoke neither German nor English, underwent a medical check and his fingerprints were taken.

A Red Cross worker later found out that the man’s wallet had been stolen in Stuttgart. But instead of going to the police the man registered as a migrant.

A Mandarin speaker solved the puzzle.

The translator was found at a Chinese restaurant near the migrant hostel where the tourist was staying, in Duelmen, near the west German city of Dortmund.

‘Very helpless’

In early July the tourist arrived at the hostel on a bus with migrants, from Dortmund.

“He was so different from the others. Very, very helpless,” said Red Cross worker Christoph Schluetermann.

A translation app confirmed Mr Schluetermann’s suspicions that the tourist had got entangled in the asylum system by mistake.

“It came up with phrases like ‘I want to go on a trip abroad’,” he said. It emerged that the tourist had plans to visit Italy and France.

The man, from northern China, had calmly allowed the authorities to take away his passport and visa, and take his fingerprints.

He then had a medical check and was given the standard papers that migrants get on arrival in Germany. He had meals at the migrant hostel and received some spending money.

Mr Schluetermann said hostel staff made futile calls to various consulates, hoping to identify the tourist. An error over the man’s visa caused further delay.

Finally his asylum application was stopped and he was able to continue his European tour.

According to German broadcaster WDR, the man did not get angry but left Germany saying simply that he had imagined Europe to be quite different
