Posted by LS Morningstar on Mon, 07 Oct 2019 16:52 | # The original meaning of the phrase tikkun olam in the Talmud referred to innovations that made Jewish law more practical, functional and fair. For example, in the tractate Gittin 32a the term mi’pnei tikkun olam (for the sake of the betterment of the world) is used when stipulating that a husband may not revoke a get (a divorce decree) by means of a court order. Later, tikkun olam was given a mystic, esoteric significance in Lurianic Kabbalah. Rabbi Isaac Luria (1534-72) formulated a new system of the ancient Jewish Kabbalah, which included amongst its innovations the concept of shevirat hakelim (the shattering of the vessels) and tikkun olam (the repairing of the world). Luria’s doctrine posits that god had created two universes; the one we inhabit and an earlier one. The spiritual core of these universes consist of orot (light) which is symbolic of god’s creative energy and kelim (vessels) symbolic of the receiving and harnessing of the energy. In the first universe the divine light was too intense for the vessels to hold, which resulted in the shattering of the vessels and the destruction of the universe. In the second universe the light is much dimmer and can be contained in the vessels without breaking them. Luria continued by saying that sparks from the shattered vessels are embedded in the new (this) universe; and that the purpose of this life was to uncover these holy sparks and release them back to their source. This is achieved through study of the Torah and through mitzvot. Everytime someone performs a mitzah (a good deed done from religious duty) he is releasing a spark that brings redemption closer. Once all the sparks are released and tikkun olam is complete, the Messiah will redeem the world, glory being restored to the Jewish people and to Jerusalem. Then, in the 1950’s Jews in America (where else?) gave the phrase tikkun olam a political dimension - that jews should have a hands on involvement concerning matters of social justice and human rights. Their mitzvahs are directed towards minorities living in their midst and extends to asylum seekers and refugees, even if their mitzvah involves them going the extra mile or five hundred to bring them into their midst, in order to be nice to them. After all, every spark is sacred. This is Kabbalah hidebound in practical idealism but the end result will be the same. Redemption of the Jewish people, Jerusalem as the capital of the world and Noahide law for the bovine mass of humanity. Nor does the Xtian ‘New Jerusalem’ or the Islamic ‘Universal Caliphate’ offer anything different. If you want to be freemen, you must begin by renouncing the false god of Abraham and all his works; and remember, even the monotheists book of their unholy works tells you who gave you nous to begin with. 3

I found the theory that Jews not behaving as a ‘light unto the nations’ being the cause of antisemitism amusing.
This article about Kabbalah is interesting,to me anyway, “Three Charms for Hitler”....
https://www.tabletmag.com/jewish-arts-and-culture/283771/kabbalah-jewish-magic-hitler
It wasn’t the only time Hitler had been ‘attacked by magic’ . A coven gathered in the New Forest near Highcliffe -on-Sea on 1st August 1940 and cast a spell to stop the Germans from crossing the Channel.
It’s easy to be sceptical but in 2017, witches worldwide, led by..erm.. Lana del Rey, cast a binding spell to stop Donald Trump from doing harm. Only a couple of weeks ago Trump was going to launch a retaliatory strike against Iran but suddenly changed his mind. You see… (lol)
