Suddenly, with one bound we were free

So “the virus” which caused the Westminster government to lie to the people for two years, Big Pharma to grow terra-rich and the rest of us dirt poor, and about 17,000 deaths in reality, is all over bar the last few painless, entirely safe and obviously really, really necessary jabs.  They say.  But, then, they would because Boris Johnson’s political career is in desperate trouble.

He’s ordering the Royal Navy to seal off the Channel and stop the migrant invasion, too.  It’s amazing what a principle-free hypocrite ... sorry, a national leader can get done when he really wants to.  We all know that the Channel won’t be sealed for a moment, of course.  Still, those bites sound good, and that’s the main consideration.  Likewise, Boris has ordered Dorries to make a few right-wing harrumphing sounds about the biased BBC and its licence tax.  Probably nothing will ever be done.  But, y’know, it’s the perception that’s the thing.

Well, while pondering what to make of all this red meat, I have to take my hat off to the writer of the pithy top comment on the relevant ZH thread, one IAMEVERYONE, who simply asked us to:

Imagine a virus so deadly and contagious that it disappears when a politician is at risk of losing public office.

For that small mercy let us be grateful.  Others may be less so.  If the great lockdown wind-down winds its merry way to endemicity, and anything like normality circa March 2020 comes to pass, that will leave several other Western governments ... the ones who are currently bent on a mad war against the unvaxxed ... looking decidedly yesterday.  Klaus Blofeld, in his lair deep within the Schiahorn above Davos, must be absolutely livid.

I’ll gladly trade you Biden for Boris .... I’ll even through in Kamala as a bonus.

Only if you agree to take Priti Patel and the entire cast of Hamilton.

Patel:

Backlash over bid to ‘cover up’ daily migrant figures: MPs and campaigners blast Priti Patel over ‘cowardly act’ saying she is more concerned about ‘burying bad news than being transparent’ as Channel crisis worsens
Home Office may stop releasing daily figures for migrants crossing the Channel
Instead, data on migrant numbers would be published just four times a year
Tory MPs have accused Priti Patel of ‘covering up’ and ‘burying bad news’
Dover MP Natalie Elphicke, says figures ‘vital’ for monitoring progress on crisis
Migration Watch UK chairman Alp Mehmet, says proposal is ‘a cowardly act’

Ministers were accused of ‘cowardice’ last night after plans emerged to conceal the number of migrants arriving each day.

The Home Office currently issues the data after arrivals have been processed by the UK Border Force, typically on the following day, but this could stop when the Ministry of Defence (MoD) takes over operations to intercept migrants, it has emerged.

Instead, a running total will be published just four times a year.

It comes after the statistics watchdog raised concerns about the daily totals currently issued by the Government.

The Home Office is now set to release the figures every three months, but the move has drawn criticism from Tory MPs - with one saying it ‘seems more like burying bad news than being transparent about crossings.

Another anonymous Conservative said: ‘It just looks like covering up, and no doubt journalists will come up with their own figures based on people arriving at Tughaven [the migrant processing centre in Dover] and Freedom of Information requests.’ ...

In that case the deal is a wash. Being that the cackling Kamala and the entire cast of Hamilton are equally irksome.

Some additional background on the issue.

Migrant crossings on the English Channel

DATE
21 Oct 2021

[...]

In April 2018, the two countries signed the Sandhurst Treaty to reinforce cooperation on ‘management of their shared border’. The agreement saw the UK commit to paying an additional £44.5 million for border defences and technology.

In November 2018, the UK-France Coordination and Information Centre agreed to under the Sandhurst Treaty opened to assist a 24/7 operation to stop illegal border crossings, exchange real-time intelligence, prevent threats to public order and provide analysis of traffic flows across the Channel.

How have the UK and France responded to the 2021 surge in crossings?

In July 2021 it was announced that a new funding package had been agreed – the UK would pay a further £55 million (€62.7 million) to France to clamp down on crossings and the number of French patrol boats would double. Despite this new package, the number of crossings continued to rise in August.

At the start of September 2021, the Home Secretary, Priti Patel, threatened to stop the payment unless the French increased the number of migrant crossings stopped from one in two to three in four by the end of the month.

In response, French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin tweeted that France would not accept ‘financial blackmail’.

Meanwhile, French General Frantz Tavart declared he would call off nightly patrols in the English Channel if the funding were no longer provided.

In early October, Darmanin complained that ‘not one euro’ of the promised funding has been received. A British Security Minister, Damian Hinds, has said this was due to an ‘administrative’ issue rather than a ‘political question’.

Speaking of controlling borders, Hungary has constructed a successful system for doing so. Moreover, Hungary is serving as the 21st century model/example of how to protect and maintain an ethnonationalist country.

That train ransacking is only one example of a massive crimewave showcasing the civilization breakdown that’s taking place across America. As of now the breakdown of law-and-order is mainly occurring in cities, counties and states governed by Democrats. But make no mistake about it, this breakdown of law-and-order has been proceeded by forethought and careful design. For example, one only has to be aware at the correlation between the George Soros backed “woke” district attorneys running the local DA office and the precipitous rise in crime there. There are many other examples, but the point is this civilizational breakdown we are witnessing has been created by Jews like Soros along with a legion of leftist social engineers. IMHO, they are doing this as a set-up, a prelude, a means to an end, leading to the justification for installing a godless/leftist authoritarian state run by megalomaniacs. Call it “Build Back Better” ... “You will own nothing and be happy.” .... “The beatings will continue until morale improves.”

What can Thorn do about all this? Not much, really ... except support Trump and listen to some of my fave tunes by The Kinks.

The closer that Neil Oliver gets to a UK Column style position on the ambitions and politics of the powerful, the more he grows in the estimation of a lot of people, a fair number of them proper nationalists.  His sort of analysis won’t meet every requirement from our perspective; but it shows the scale of the shift from the sort of politics which were meant, at the outset of GBNews last June, to typify the channel:

This comment is very interesting , thanks, GW . I have seen Neil Oliver on GB News and I’d mentally urged him on to the next level of dissidence .

“Slowly , slowly catchee monkey” ?  Perhaps.

I’ve thought from the start of the pandemic the best way to overcome the virus is via effective therapeutics. I’m not saying the mRNA vaccines shouldn’t play a central role in protecting us against the virus—especially when administered to those most vulnerable. But, again, the theory is eventually everyone will contract the virus - those vaxxed or not. So, given that, where is the “Operation Warp Speed” whose focus is on discovering effective therapeutics? Furthermore, (maybe I’m being a bit naive) effective treatments would go a long way towards disempowering most of the control freaks hellbent on using Covid19 as a golden opportunity for power grabbing.

The advent of effective therapeutics would diminish the vaxxed vs unvaxxed divide. A divide the control freaks are taking advantage of.

(BTW, GW, my comments are mainly a reaction to the Andrew Neil article.)

The GOP Hasn’t Suddenly Discovered Its Spine

Republicans in Congress folded like a deck of cards in the face of the pandemic and they are still behind the ball.

JANUARY 22, 2022|12:01 AM
CARMEL RICHARDSON

“The political elite have changed their tune” is about as self-evident a truth as single men in possession of large fortunes wanting wives. Every year, spring returns to melt the snow; every time there’s a bid to protect big business, it will be signed by Sen. Mitch McConnell; and every election season, opinions that were anathema one month ago sprout from the unlikeliest of lips.

As TAC managing editor Micah Meadowcroft has pointed out, we should be wary of Democrats who have suddenly begun to sound centrist. We should also be wary of those just to the right of center, who appear, at last, to have discovered their spines—particularly on matters of Covid-19 policy. After just under two years of browbeating from their voters back home, the grand ole party has only flipped the script on Covid policy now because their Democratic betters have decided “endemic” is suddenly cool and fun. (Remember, the Church of Science only appoints woke priests, but that doesn’t stop Republicans from trying to earn entry.)

A bit like the Baptist church, the Republican party’s problem is not its failure to walk in lockstep on Covid policy, it’s that its step is always a good 30 yards behind, trying to catch up. Take the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, for example. It took most level-headed people about a month after March 2020 to notice CDC guidance was more often grounded in politics than actual science: masks don’t work, now they do, now you’re a criminal if you pull yours below your nostrils.

By the time The American Conservative reported on Israel’s natural immunity discovery back in September 2021, which showed previous infection was better protection against the virus than getting the vaccine, it wasn’t abnormal for those looking for serious studies to look beyond the CDC. Still, it took most Republicans in Congress until this week to allow themselves to say natural immunity provides better protection than vaccines—but only because the CDC has said so. (Florida’s Ron DeSantis and a handful of state houses, meanwhile, moved on this months ago.)
