Star Tribune, 18 July 2017: Justine Damond, 40, who called 911 to report a possible assault behind her south Minneapolis home Saturday night, was fatally shot by a police officer. No body cams were running at the time.

The death of Justine Damond, who called 911 to report a possible crime only to be killed by a responding Minneapolis police officer, has left her grieving family, neighborhood and nation demanding answers in the latest police-involved shooting to thrust Minnesota into the international spotlight.

The Minneapolis police officer who shot and killed a 40-year-old woman in the alley behind her home Saturday night has been identified as Officer Mohamed Noor. State investigators have confirmed that they did not find any weapons at the scene.

Noor, 31, joined the department in March 2015 as the first Somali police officer to patrol the 5th Precinct in southwest Minneapolis, according to a city newsletter. He holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from Augsburg College. Before joining the department, he worked in property management in commercial and residential properties in Minneapolis and St. Louis, Mo.

Noor has been sued once in his short career with the police department, stemming from a May 25, 2017 incident, in which he and two other officers came to a woman’s home…

He plead guilty to entering a woman’s home, pointing a gun at her stomach and searching the home for drugs and money, according to court records.

Floyd was sentenced to 10 months in jail for having less than one gram of cocaine in a December 2005 arrest.

He had previously been sentenced to eight months for the same offense, stemming from an October 2002 arrest.

Floyd was arrested in 2002 for criminal trespassing and served 30 days in jail
He had another stint for a theft in August 1998.

The final straw for Floyd came after serving five years in prison in 2009 for aggravated assault stemming from a robbery in 2007 where he entered a woman’s home, pressed a gun into her stomach and searched the home for drugs and money, according to court records. 

Floyd pleaded guilty to the robbery where another suspect posed as a worker for the local water department, wearing a blue uniform in an attempt to gain access to the woman’s home, according to the charging document.

But when the woman opened the door, she realized he was not with the water department and attempted to close the door, leading to a struggle.

At that time, a Ford Explorer pulled up to the home and five other males exited the car and went up to the front door.

The report states the largest of the group, who the victim later identified as Floyd, ‘forced his way inside the residence, placed a pistol against the complainant’s abdomen, and forced her into the living room area of the residence.

‘This large suspect then proceeded to search the residence while another armed suspect guarded the complainant, who was struck in the head and sides by this second armed suspect with his pistol while she screamed for help.’

Not finding any drugs or money at the house, the men took jewelry and the woman’s cell phone and fled in their car. A neighbor who witnessed the robbery took down the car’s license plate number.

Later, police tracked down the car and found Floyd behind the wheel. He was later identified by the woman as the large suspect who placed a gun against her stomach and forced her into her living room, the document states.

London’s landmarks will be reviewed to ensure they reflect the capital’s diversity after protestors tore down the statue of slave trader Edward Colston in Bristol.

Mayor Sadiq Khan’s office said London is “one of the most diverse cities in the world” but recent Black Lives Matter Protests have highlighted that the city’s statues, plaques and street names largely reflect Victorian Britain.

The Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm will review the city’s landmarks - including murals, street art, street names, statues and other memorials - and consider which legacies should be celebrated before making recommendations.

Mr Khan said “It is an uncomfortable truth that our nation and city owes a large part of its wealth to its role in the slave trade, and while this is reflected in our public realm, the contribution of many of our communities to life in the capital has been wilfully ignored.

This cannot continue. We must ensure we celebrate the achievements and diversity of all in our city, and that we commemorate those who have made London what it is - that includes questioning which legacies are being celebrated.

The Black Lives Matters protests have rightly brought this to the publics attention, but it’s important that we take the right steps to work together to bring change and ensure that we can all be proud of our public landscape”.

The video embedded in the article is no longer available. I watched it before it was shut down.  A white guy is clearly heard - and seen - shouting across a line of yellow jackets   “Shut your fucking mouth you piece of shit…you what? ...fucking come over here” before a yellow jacket (I can’t call them actual policemen) stands in front of him, although you can clearly see the white guy mouthing “I couldn’t fucking care less”.

Okay, football clubs have been at pains to point out that they are not responsible for what supporters might do outside of grounds - so what are Spurs doing ‘looking into it’? what makes this the exception?  the club owner being one Daniel Levy perhaps?

Spurs fans are the most disadvantaged group in the country. How many years since a title?  give the poor bastards a break.

Incidentally , I have extended family down in Hertfordshire. As teenagers they were all biker chicks and a few years ago at a family funeral I learned they are still burning rubber and steel. Good for the Daughters of Anarchy as I’ve taken to calling them. I’d like to see BLM turn up in their neck of the woods because .. hell…

A member of the public, who had claimed to be assaulted, flagged down the police on Wednesday afternoon and directed them to their alleged attacker.

But footage showed a male police officer pinned to the ground and being kicked, while his female colleague is pushed when she tries to intervene.

Yesterday, in a video posted to social media, the former National Rally politician, spoke at length about the Black Lives Matter movement, as well the protests, riots, and looting which have ignited across the West in response to the deaths of George Floyd and Adama Traoré.

“I don’t have to apologize as a white person and a French one,” said Maréchal in a video posted to Facebook. “You can see what we have been reduced to by having to position ourselves that way. I don’t have to apologize for the death of an offender, Adama Traoré, an accidental death that occurred after an arrest unrelated to his skin color, but to the crimes he allegedly committed.”

“I don’t have to apologize because I didn’t colonize anyone… I didn’t enslave anyone in the same way that all these political groups and political activists were never colonized or enslaved themselves,” Maréchal continued.

The 30-year-old former politician then commented on BLM, Antifa, and other radically liberal extremists who’ve torn down and defaced monuments across Europe and America.

They “defile the memory of our ancestors, spit on our history, profane our heritage and break down our statues,” she said adding that “What is being prepared behind this propaganda is terrifying.”

A Black Lives Matter protestor was seriously injured when a toppled statue fell on his head and knocked him unconscious.

A witness told a Wavy.com reporter that the injured man was seen “convulsing on the ground” after the statue hit him during the protest in Portsmouth, Virginia.

A North Wales businesswoman has apologised after posting calls on social media for people to dress up as the Ku Klux Klan ahead of a Black Lives Matter protest.

Wendy Rowland, who runs the Amore Pizza mobile pizza van, sparked outcry when she posted on Facebook “Come on. Let’s do it. let’s dress up as Ku Klux Klan. Who’s joining us. Let’s stand our ground”.

She made the comments while arguing that the name of the Caernarfon pub The Black Boy should remain, while urging people to come over from her native Cheshire to help defend the town’s “history”.

A man who was filmed spitting blood in a female police officer’s eye has been jailed for eight months.

Temisan Oritsejapor, 41, launched the attack on PC Annie Napier who was arresting him at his flat in Vincent Wyles house in Wyken, Coventry on 18 April, after assaulting neighbour Alison Osbourne.

During his arrest Oritsejafor - who at the time was on bail for a previous assault on an officer - suffered a bloody nose before spitting in PC Napier’s face.

Oritsejafor previously admitted common assault and two charges of common assault on emergency workers at Warwick Crown Court in May.

Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of hurling racist abuse during a Black Lives Matter protest.

A 19 year old and a 14 year old allegedly made the remarks during a demonstration in Haverfordwest.

The pair - who have not been named - were taken into custody on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences.

Dyfed-Powys Police said the incident had caused “upset and distress”.

Jasmine Archer-Jones, the most recent winner of the beauty pageant Miss Swimsuit UK (I’ve never heard of her or it but ) has had her title removed. Her offence was to say ‘all lives matter’ and being critical of BLM. She also questioned the innocence of the sainted martyr George Floyd.
