Boris Johnson will “stick by” Home Secretary Priti Patel despite a third senior civil servant accusing the Home Secretary of “bullying”. The allegations against Patel are to be investigated by the Cabinet Office.
A Tory source told the programme that members of the civil service were attacking Patel because they were trying to scupper government plans for immigration and the police. “Dark forces are trying to influence the findings of a cabinet office inquiry” the source said.
Senior Conservatives are already angry with a number of civil servants, who they believe attempted to derail Brexit. The first complaint made against Patel came from Sir Philip Rutnam, who has said he will sue the government for constructive dismissal.
Educated at Trinity Hall Cambridge and Harvard University, Rutnam, a civil servant for 33 years and a former employee of Morgan Stanley, was appointed Permanent Secretary at the Home Office in 2017.
On 30th April 218 Amber Rudd resigned as Home Secretary because she had been unaware that there had been targets for removals [ of Windrush overstayers ] and had claimed there were not. Sir Philip [Rutnam] was accused of presiding over this culture where “completely misleading emails” were sent by civil servants in the Home Office to Miss Rudd on this matter. (Wikipedia)
Rutnam is an archetypal liberal ivory tower dweller, unaffected by globalism and minted at the taxpayers expense. If Patel didn’t orchestrate a campaign against him, she should have.
Patel doesn’t conform to the liberal view of what a “woman of colour” should be, otherwise the liberal media would claim she was a victim of “white male privilege”. As it is, she may as well change her name to Cruella.
