The Beatles visiting a chip shop during filming of Magical Mystery Tour [Taunton, Somerset]
Friday 15/09/1967
The Beatles hadn’t been in Taunton for four years – they played their last gig in the Somerset town in September 1963 – but on this Friday afternoon it provided a charmingly odd interlude in a chaotic time for the group. On 27 August manager Brian Epstein had overdosed and died, and Paul McCartney, to prevent a likely split in the band, rushed them into completing the Magical Mystery Tour film. Taking their cue from Ken Kesey’s Merry Pranksters, the group, friends and actors piled into a bus and headed for Newquay, Cornwall. At their hotel they met Amy and James Smedley, who invited them to drop by their Taunton chippie.

I’ve been reading this book I got from a charity shop. It was written in 1958, and talks about London life from before the Romans to the 50s. I wonder how long it’ll be until they start removing books like this because they reveal the lies of the current narrative.

LOL: Their faces will melt…plastic people, oh baby now you’re such a drag..
Ryan Dawson is rather in a glass house, unkempt and morose of countenance himself, to be indulging in the sweeping criticism of London’s women..

Ryan Dawson said that he was repulsed by the women of London… don’t know if they’re exemplary.. .. I would also question his taste and his position to judge (no beauty himself).
But of this one, up in Blackburn, I see nothing to complain about physically… and wouldn’t it be nice to come to her rescue.
Katie Green, I’m not sure if she’s English or Irish ... apparently Green is one of the most widespread English names, though it can sometimes be Irish.
All Katie Green strives for is a 9-5 job where she has that ‘Friday feeling’.
Instead, the unemployed 25-year-old goes to sleep hungry every night and is left with just £26 a month once she’s paid her bills.
When she does have a little bit of money, she buys “the cheapest little frozen sausage rolls, the cheapest bread, the cheapest everything”.
Katie spoke to the Mirror earlier this summer from the Community Spirit soup kitchen in Blackburn, where she was desperate for a hot meal and a food parcel.
Somehow I find it difficult to believe that her wants will go unfulfilled indefinitely.
She’s lovely, has a very familial look to her.

‘Photographs of the winter of 1963’. that was a proper winter. Life didn’t grind to a halt unlike today, when an inch of snow can paralyse London but then I suppose many of today’s ‘Londoners’ have never seen it before.
