Teaching diversity

Posted by Guest Blogger on Sunday, 02 April 2006 11:10.

The head teacher at a Berlin school has written a desperate letter to state authorities asking for help.

Teachers were no longer able to cope with the students’ aggression and disrespect, it had become almost impossible to hold orderly lessons, and students were ignoring or even attacking teachers and fighting among themselves.

One teacher complained to the Tagesspiegel newspaper that ethnic Arab pupils were in the majority and were bullying ethnic Turks, Germans and other nationalities. A student who was interviewed warned that pupils were coming to school armed:

Things have been getting worse and worse because people seem to be crazy here. They are bringing knives and weapons to school.

Nor is the problem confined to one school. On March 21st, an Arab student used a mobile phone to call in a gang of up to 15 Arab men to take vengeance on a black student in the Charlottenburg Pommern School. A quick thinking teacher ushered the boy into a nearby room, so the gang picked out another black student and beat him up.

Another recent case involved a female teacher at the Wedding Theodor Plievier School, who was shot at while at a telephone booth near the school. Teachers at this school have also written a letter in which they say that half of the students can’t be educated, and that a majority have no feeling for general standards, values and boundaries.

Rational Treatment of Ethno Secessionism vs Multicultural Accessionism?

Posted by James Bowery on Thursday, 26 January 2006 17:33.

The idea that ethnostates are the root of all evil is so embedded in political theory that it is considered axiomatic.  A case in point is Stanford University’s Encyclopedia of Philosophy article on Secession which blithely dismisses “Ascriptivist Theories” of secession as a “Primary Right” with the statement introducing such theories: This approach to unilateral secession has a long pedigree, reaching back at least to Nineteenth Century nationalists such as Mazzini, who proclaimed that every nation should have its own state… this appears to be not only unfeasible, but a recipe for increasing ethno-national conflict… given the historical record of ethno-nationalist conflict, the worry remains that institutionalizing the principle that every nation is entitled to its own state would exacerbate ethno-national violence, along with the human rights violations it inevitably entails.

So I have a question: Has anyone bothered to check—objectively and rationally—to assure themselves that accessionism has a history less tarnished by “human rights abuses”, violence/coersion (state directed violence/coersion/bias on behalf of politically enfranchized ethnicities) and other “inevitable” consequences of accessionism?

Certainly the origin of the word “racism” as an epithet was with Trostky aka Braunstein during the dawn of the less-than-exemplary Soviet State—with its very accessionist and open anti-nationalism.

Nitromethane for the SIBOS

Steve Sailer, fearless as usual, has pointed the way for Muslim repatriation in Europe.  His latest thoughts follow on his VDare article of November 6 and Peter Brimelow’s ponderings of three days earlier.

Steve proposes a carrot and stick arrangement to produce a wholesale Muslim exodus.  He would “deport lawbreakers, cut transfer-payment subsidies and lengthen prison terms to push the destructive Muslims with legal residency back to their ancestral homelands.”  Supplementing this would be “buy-out offers paying $25,000 (or more, if necessary) to pull the Muslims out.”

I think this notion has to be floated at some stage - and now, at the close of a fateful year for race relations in Europe, is as good a time as any.  Here, then, are a few off-the-cuff observations about Steve’s suggestion.

Mass migration destroys humanity?

Posted by James Bowery on Saturday, 19 November 2005 16:40.

A key distinguishing feature of humanity is its communication ability.  But what exactly is communication as opposed to manipulation?  How does communication arise?  What are the conditions for its continuation?  There have been a number of attempts at simulating the evolution of communication but till the simulation described in this article was run, none of them combined migration, climatic variation and the prisoner’s dilemma.

The simulaton is schematic but suggestive that migration can eliminate the very genetic capacity for communication and replace it with pure manipulation.

Pioneer Greatness:  Burt Rutan

Posted by James Bowery on Thursday, 17 November 2005 04:27.

A little good news is needed now and then. The pioneer spirit is still alive. As a person somewhat responsible for the resurgence in technology prize awards, I have a few things to say about Burt Rutan’s capture of the Ansari X-Prize by being the first to fly a man to space in a reusable craft twice within a week. He follows the great technology pioneers Henry Ford and Charles Lindbergh, both of whom came to prominence during similar fair contests: The Guggenheim Trophy and Orteig Prize respectively. (From these exemplars some might now see a reason the powers that be shy away from fair contests—contests where they can’t really control who wins the prizes—and it was left to an Iranian family, the Ansaris, to fully fund the X-Prize.)

A speech by Burt Rutan before the National Space Society is worth a view (requires QuickTime ). He repeatedly and angrily declares his embarrassment at the risk averse culture that has strangled the pioneer spirit since the feats of the 1960s—nearly 40 years ago. I’ve got my issues with his speech but we clearly agree that something went horribly wrong with the pioneer spirit subsequent to the 1960s. The turning inward of the human potential has resulted in the halting of human progress upward and outward with aerospace technology being bureaucratically and monotonously scaled up for jumbo jet transportation. The result is the sort of danger warned of by Charles Lindbergh in his 1939 Reader’s Digest article “Aviation, Geography, and Race”: a sea of humanity threatening our race which is, after all, a global minority. Indeed the technological exemplar of this era has been driven by the rise of finance to preeminence—the inward-turning microelectronic revolution. The unintended side-effect of this revolution you see before you now as a website, but it is small consolation for the damage to our pioneer spirit.  As we were warned by Henry Ford the great struggle of the 20th century was creative industry vs global finance.  Global finance has dominated the past 30 years or more. Perhaps men like Burt Rutan can lead us out of our malaise and realize the human potential.  If so it may be due to prize awards like the Ansari X-Prize that give men even younger than Burt Rutan a chance to make a name for themselves purely via their own grit and gifts.

FGM and the future of the West

Posted by Guessedworker on Tuesday, 01 November 2005 00:40.

“I had a beautiful life, but at the same time a tough one,” says former model and “Bond girl”, UN ambassador and global campaigner against female genital mutilation, Waris Dirie.  She is interviewed in today’s Telegraph on the occasion of the launch of her new book, Desert Children.  Working with co-writers she has produced two similar books and found time to establish an Austrian-based foundation dedicated to women, like her, who have suffered FGM.  It is a noble endeavour professionally pursued.

Her journey to this extraordinary life began, of course, in a child’s terror:-

Would electoral reform help?

Posted by Guest Blogger on Friday, 28 October 2005 12:37.

The lead article at the excellent VDARE website is interesting for several reasons.

First, it is a reply to some recent articles by MR’s own Geoff Beck. It seems that MR, with over a million hits now, is getting noticed.

Second, it discusses in a calm and reasonable way Geoff’s assertion that there are differences in the way that Congressmen of different ethnicities vote on immigraiton issues.

Bleeding the Third World

Posted by Guest Blogger on Tuesday, 25 October 2005 11:47.

It can’t get any clearer than this.

The World Bank has released a report heavily critical of skilled immigration into countries like Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

Why? There is considerable evidence that such immigration harms Third World nations. Such nations cannot develop when the majority of their university graduates emigrate to countries like Australia.

Consider this. Jamaica loses 85% of its university graduates to the West; Tonga 75%; Fiji 62%; and Ghana 47%.
